Dhangsha (Bengali for "destruction"), the project of London's electronic musician Aniruddha Das, released underground cassettes such as cassette Future Tense (2019) and finally debuted with
the instrumental album
Broadcast Signal Intrusion (2024), which contains two lengthy compositions at the border between musique concrete and industrial music.
Broadcast Signal Intrusion Pt 1 (22:13) begins with
an abrasive drone that simulates alien radio interference, continues with a
layered section of
limping distortion, metallic hi-hat beat and synth glitches,
enters a land of chaotic industrial clangor and electrical discharges,
and eventually emanates grotesque dance steps until they are swallowed by
filthy dark noise.
Broadcast Signal Intrusion Pt 2 (22:04) opens with viscuous synth sounds that introduce a blurred session of post-dub hedonism which in the second half
becomes a free-form multi-layered electronic poem.
Insurrection Manual (2026) collect eight shorter instrumentals.
Sacred Rage is an African drumbeat smothered in distorted synthscapes.
Album standout Wretched of the Earth is a mini-concerto for violent radio interference.
However, after
the Caribbean orgy of Phoenix and the robotic fauna of
Resilience,
the album gets a bit repetitive and predictable.
