Puerto Rican singer-songwriter Ileana Cabra-Joglar, aka iLe, who studied piano at the local conservatory, was a member of Latin-rap trio Calle 13 (three siblings, of which the was the youngest), disguised as PgG-13, a group that recorded five albums between 2005 and 2014, notably Entren Los Que Quieran (2010), and was awarded a record 24 Latin Grammys. She debuted solo with Ilevitable (2016), whose songs, a mix of vintage Cuban bolero and bugalu (Canibal, Triangulo) and modern Latin-jazz (Te Quiero con Bugalu'), were mainly vehicles to showcase her vocal skills. Almadura (2019), co-composed and produced by drummer Ismael Cancel, with electronic arrangements by Jeff "Trooko" Penalva, contains Dejame Decirte, a collaboration with Puerto Rican jazz and salsa legend Eddie Palmieri, and only one bolero (Temes), and is a stronger artistic and sociopolitical statement (protesting against the USA's apathetic response to the 2017 hurricane that ravaged Puerto Rico) with proud anti-imperialist anthems like Contra Todo and Odio. The non-album single Afilando Los Cuchillos ("Sharpening the Knives"), a collaboration with Benito "Bad Bunny" Ocasio and her brother Rene "Residente" Joglar, became a political anthem during protests that forced the island's governor to resign.

Nacarile (2022) perfected her fusion of neosoul, hip-hop, Afro-funk and synth-pop, especially Donde Nadie mas Respira.
