Berlin's Golden Showers released only one album, The Golden Showers (Reptilian, 1999).
Their drummer Chris Imler became a vocalist and released
solo albums such as
Nervos (Staatsaktu 2014) and
Maschinen Und Tiere (Staatsakt, 2018).
He matured with Operation Schoenheit (Fun In The Church, 2022), produced by
Benedikt Frey.
He crafts an effective post-human anthem,
Temperature, a hybrid of
Kraftwerk,
Trio and
Neu.
Even better is Movies, a dizzying descent into ethnic percussive chaos.
Instead, the designated anthem, Operation Schnheit, falls flat.
The hypnotic, transcendent Shining, caressed by a moaning jazz trumpet,
pens new horizon to his music.
Disappoint Me offers a kammerspiel version of industrial music.
Whip Me harks back to aggro of the 1990s.
The biggest drawback is that,
over the long distance, his monotonous vocals (which are little more than spoken word) become... monotonous.
The Internet Will Break My Heart (2025) marks a step backwards.
If the lame litany The Internet Will Break My Heart nad
the
amospheric downtempo ballad Agoraphobie
are devoid of paassion,
the techno locomotive of Un Solo Corpo derails in infernal cacophony
and the metallic industrial noise of Liturgy Of Litter feels like a funeral march for Buddhist robots.
Volatile is a brief nod to
Suicide
before the magniloquent finale of Boundless Love.
