Dream in Dream (2025)
Japanese producer Saeko Killy, who had moved to Berlin in 2018,
debuted with Morphing Polaroids (2023).
Unfortunately she sings. A terrible monotonous singer, her vocals ruin whatever soundscape her intricate electronic patterns create.
Best examples of her tragic downtempo style are Belgium and
Sun Shower. There are also a couple of
more energetic songs, almost synth-pop in Alt and
dub-tinged in Intimate Flame.
There is no real improvement on Dream in Dream (2025), another set of
monotonous litanies over simple beats with amateurish electronic arrangements.
However, Next Time could be an atmospheric synth-pop hit of the 1980s
and Jede Farbe could be an alienation hymn worthy of early industrial music.
So maybe there is progress: progress in better emulating her inspirations.
Dream In Dream is probably meant to be the catchy pop tune, but it sounds like millions of similar electronic melodies.
