Kitty Pride (later known as simply Kitty), the project of rapper Kathryn Beckwith, at the time a teenage white girl in Florida, formed an all-female rap group, Jokers in Trousers, and then began posting on the Internet her own laptop-made hip-hop music. Her 28-minute 12-song mixtape The Lizzy McGuire Experience (2011) contains the entire EP recorded by the Jokers in Trousers. The rapping is rather lousy, but the production is intriguing. The lyrics are typical of high-school girls, far removed from the apocalyptic mood of so much hip-hop, as "un-gangsta" as it gets. She rose to prominence with the harmless and jovial Okay Cupid, off the EP Haha I'm Sorry (2012), which also contains the first version of Ay Shawty, and with the eight-song EP DAISY Rage (2013), whose highlights are Ay Shawty 3.0 (a duet with New York rapper Aleksey "Lakutis" Weintraub), Scout Finch Bitch and the catchy $krillionaire (which is actually about drug addiction). She came through as a rich white playfully naive girl having fun who rode the fashionable wave of "cloudrap".

She turned into a singer and moved into conventional dance-pop with the five-song EP Frostbite (2014) and the 13-song album Miami Garden Club (2017), a collection of mediocre derivative ballads with a lot of 1980s dejavu in the beats and arrangements, whose main claim to fame was that it was crowdfunded through an Internet campaign. Rose Gold (2019) updated her music to more sophisticated beats and sensual/dreamy neosoul crooning (best in Look Demure), a trend continued on the obnoxious EP Charm and Mirror (2020).
