Maren Morris

Texas country singer Maren Morris began in a traditional style on Walk On (2005) and All That It Takes (2007), but then employed keyboardists Aaron Wynne and Taylor Tatsch to spice up Live Wire (2011), so much so that the album opens with the gospel-ish Born Again over a hip-hop beat. She then moved to Nashville and promptly crossed over into pop on Hero (2016), containing her signature song My Church. The awful Girl (2019) was composed mostly by Nashville songwriters. She also formed the all-female quartet Highwomen with Amanda Shires, Brandi Carlile and Natalie Hemby that debuted with The Highwomen (2019). The introspective Humble Quest (2022), produced by Greg Kurstin, at least escapes the "industrial assembly-chain" feeling of its predecessor.
