Pseudo Nippon, the project of London's singer-songwriter and electronic
programmer Peter Caul, achieved an impressive degree of production clarity
and complexity on
Universal Pork Tai Chi (One Inch Badge, 2011), containing the
jovial catchy mock Far Eastern novelty Jebubu And The Whale.
Colorama (Tigertrap, 2012), featuring live drummers, expanded the
concept via the
surreal dance-punk ditty Universal Brotherhood, the
extroverted rap music of Lady Cactus Fog and the
intricate and aggressive German Octopus. Silly lyrics met unlikely
rhythms.
