Morgan Wallen rose to prominence in Nashville's country music with the EP Stand Alone (2015) and the singles Spin You Around (2015) and The Way I Talk (2016).
If I Know Me (2018), produced by Joey Moi and containing the hit Whiskey Glasses (written by Ben Burgess and Kevin Kadish), propelled him to the top of the country charts. It also contains Chasinâ You and Up Down.
The 30-song double album
Dangerous (2021) made him the most popular country singer of his generation, thanks to
the catchy
More Than My Hometown, the lyrical Sand in my Boots
and lots of soul ballads like
7 Summers
disguised as country music.
Almost none of the songs were written by him.
One Thing at a Time (2023) contains the hits Last Night (written by John Byron, Ashley Gorley, Jacob Kasher Hindlin and Ryan Vojtesak) and
You Proof (co-written with Ashley Gorley, Ernest Keith Smith and Ryan Vojtesak),
as well as Thinkinâ Bout Me and
Cowgirls.
One Thing at a Time (2023) beat all records of country music remaining 16 weeks on top of the charts.
Another massive hit was I Had Some Help (2024), a collaboration with Post Malone,
written by an army of songwriters (Austin Post, Louis Bell, Ryan Vojtesak, Jonathan Hoskins, Ernest Keith Smith, Ashley Gorley, Chandler Walters).
The 37-song I'm the Problem (2025) is certainly too long for such a monotonous experience, but it contains some of the most popular country songs of the era (not a compliment to country music), such as
Love Somebody,
Lies Lies Lies,
Iâm The Problem,
Just In Case,
I Got Better,
20 Cigarettes.
