This Blu-ray Disc collection, a mutual project of Flicker Alley and San Francisco Film Preserve, has been mastered from archival film materials, including a high-resolution scan of the 35mm nitrate negative of The Street of Forgotten Men preserved at the Library of Congress. The film’s missing second reel has been reconstructed using film stills as well as text and dialogue based on a copy of the original script, preserved by the New York Public Library. All extant material of The American Venus (including trailers, test footage, and a Technicolor fragment) are presented. All of the surviving footage of Just Another Blonde is presented, including segments from five of the original six reels and the original trailer. Now We’re in the Air is presented from all of the 22-minutes of surviving material.

The films are accompanied by music scores composed and performed by Stephen Horne.

Supplemental material includes audio commentary on The Street of Forgotten Men by film historian Pamela Hutchinson; audio commentary on Just Another Blonde by historians Thomas Gladysz and Kathy Rose O’Regan; audio commentary on The American Venus and Now We’re in the Air by historians Thomas Gladysz and Robert Byrne; a restoration demonstation; featurette “Looking at Lulu,” with Pamela Hutchinson; image galleries; and an insert booklet with an essay by Thomas Gladysz and restoration notes by Robert Byrne.

This is our recommended home video edition of these films.
