This Blu-ray Disc edition has been mastered from a standard-definition scan of a very-good 35mm print. This is our first disappointment of the set as the standard-resolution scan (DVD quality) shows a number artifacts within the picture (that you don’t even need still-frame to see). Stair-step aliasing is seen in the picture on straight-edge diagonals like stairs, signage edges, the shadows of clapboard siding, and even in hat brims. There is a usual amount of dust, speckling, schmutz, frame jitters, print breaks, emulsion scrapes, and other print flaws. A good print that could have used a new HD transfer.
The film is accompanied by a music score composed and performed on piano by Ben Model.
Supplemental material includes the vintage documentary Ghost Town: The Story of Fort Lee (1935) by Theodore Huff and Mark A. Borgatta; the documentary The Champion (2015) by Marc Perez; a 4K scan of the Edgar G. Ulmer musical drama Cossacks in Exile (1939) from an original 35mm nitrate print; and a 20-page insert booklet with an essay and film notes by Richard Koszarski.

It is likely that throughout the presentation a faint “SHF-E” watermark appears in the lower right-hand corner of the picture to discourage pirating; as this edition was likely pirated from some other home video edition or from some Internet streaming source, we find this to be ludicrous.
The film is likely accompanied by a soundtrack compiled from preexisting music recordings.
Not recommended. We vehemently criticize this publisher for their overpriced offerings that give the consumer as little value as possible.
