Married to Order (1920)

This short comedy, directed by Charley Chase, stars Charley Chase and Oliver Hardy, with Rosemary Theby, Leo White and Bud Ross.

The film was shot in 1918 and released in 1920. The film is also available under two different rerelease print names: All is Fair and Her Near-Sighted Father.

The film is accompanied by a music score composed and performed on piano by Serge Bromberg.

Supplemental material includes an image gallery featuring photographs from the Library of Congress collections; and a 32-page insert booklet with film notes from film historian Rob Stone, as well as notes on the restorations from Lobster Film’s Serge Bromberg.

This DVD edition has been mastered from a good 16mm reduction print, with some dust. speckling and schmutz, scratches, and other print flaws.

This DVD edition has been mastered from collector film elements that include 8mm and 16mm reduction prints. The majority of these video transfers are presented from low-quality analog videotape, with some displaying the ghosting to the right of bright objects in the picture that is characteristic of analog videotape. Some of these editions of the films are outright terrible. The films are all presented with a digital “The Laurel OR Hardy Collection” watermark in the lower right corner of the picture; this is to discourage video pirates (which is ironic given the low quality of many of these transfers).
