More than 5 years have passed since the Gamestop retail mania first surfaced. The winners/losers are largely done and dusted but the repercussions have continued to this day. The retail revolution has evolved from "HODL" and "short squeezes" back in 2021 to the present time's "buy the dip" and "leveraged single stock ETFs".

An epic David-and-Goliath stock battle is under way

MEME mania swept through Wall Street in 2021. Retail investors gathered on social media and coordinated trading strategies to short squeeze high-profile hedge funds.

Everyday traders, on the other hand, are not worried about a handful of stocks dominating their holdings. Many chase them, purchasing single-stock leveraged exchange-traded funds to amplify their returns.

Their day-trading, dip-buying reflex at the onset of the Iran war gave them the upper hand, and active stock selection in the AI pick-and-shovel universe has further amplified their wins.

P.S. Anecdotally, I know a few ex colleagues who are now trading full time and their daily expenses are supplemented by option selling.

I have observed this as well. Dipping their toes in and finding the results positive

I am not saying it will end the same way, but during the dot-com boom, there were people quitting jobs for day-trading too

It is also interesting that the rules are being loosened in the US,
