What is driving the share price at this point in time when a successful completion of a sale of Olam Agri to SALIC would bring in more money than its current market capitalisation? Retaining this piece of lucrative business is not a bad thing either.

Since the update on the sale of Olam Agri to SALIC following ECOWAS’s approval, this company has racked up interest from the investing crowd and garnered higher trading volume along the way. This paves the way for institutional coverage from Maybank today which prompted a rerating of the share price and triggers a virtuous cycle of more trading volume and more institutional coverage.

It’s an interesting dynamic to follow. What’s peculiar to me is, why does a research report hold such sway over investors? Doesn’t my blog post explain the same? Is it the reach of such a report, or the perceived authority held by equity analysts? Why is the reaction so different?

Well Squirrel, I guess research reports would reach a far wider proportion of investors as compared to individual blogs.

I also think it would require a long history of making the right calls for an individual blogger to have a dedicated following. Those preparing the research reports have the backing and credibility of their brokerage houses.

Nonetheless, I appreciate the effort you have put into your analysis and I am sure those following you would be most thankful...
"You are right not because the world agrees or disagrees with you, rather you are right because your facts & reasoning are right."

I shall continue working to build up the reach, and the credibility! Although I seldom post to my blog. It serves more like a journal supporting my investment decisions than anything else.

It seems the controlling shareholders want businesses of Olam group to be liquidated progressively, and return back their investments ?
