Thailand hasn't had much political stability for an extended period of time since Thaksin was overthrown via a military coup over 20 years ago. So it is not surprising that while Thai SDRs were the first on SGX but they never really took off. I suppose Sporeans prefer spending thai baht over getting rich via the baht. Smile

The Indonesian banks look interesting if one has at least a 10year horizon. Nonetheless, HK SDRs look to be the winners here and so I suppose there will be many more to come.

Alibaba, BYD, Pop Mart: The winners and losers among SDRs on the SGX

SGX’s total SDR count grows to 29 securities across three markets as at November 2025

SDRs first debuted on the SGX on May 29, 2023, with the launch of three blue-chip Thai names. Since then, the SGX’s total SDR count has grown to 29 securities across three markets as at November 2025 – 10 SDRs from Thailand, 16 from Hong Kong and three from Indonesia.

The Hong Kong SDRs boast various mega-cap names across the technology, consumer discretionary and financial sectors. They include Alibaba, Pop Mart, BYD and Ping An Insurance. The latest launch of three Hong Kong SDRs on Nov 12, 2025, feature Laopu Gold, Trip.com and Baidu.

Indonesia is the latest market to join the SDR line-up. Indonesian SDRs began trading on the SGX on Oct 16, 2025. They comprised three blue-chip names, Bank Central Asia, Telkom Indonesia and Indofood CBP, all of which are members of the benchmark IDX30 Index that tracks Indonesia’s top 30 stocks.

Across the different markets, Hong Kong’s SDRs had the highest October turnover at S$13.7 million, while Thai SDRs were a distant second at S$250,000 turnover and Indonesian SDRs had a S$100,000 turnover.

TSMC, SK Hynix among 5 new SDRs to be launched by SGX

[SINGAPORE] The Singapore Exchange (SGX) is introducing five new Singapore Depository Receipts (SDRs) of different companies in Asia tracking the global artificial intelligence value chain.

They are:
TSMC;
SK Hynix;
Montage Technology;
Zhongji Innolight; and
Z.AI.

Data from SGX showed that for the first nine months of 2026, retail investors recorded a net purchase of S$100 million in SDRs, and were net buyers across all SDRs of Hong Kong-listed companies.

BYD, Tencent and Alibaba attracted the largest inflows during this period, too.

SDRs allow investors access to foreign-listed stocks in smaller denominations via one marketplace. Including the five new additions, the Singapore bourse’s SDR offering will comprise 43 counters across Hong Kong, Thailand, Indonesia and the US.
