What is the catalyst that you guys are looking at?

US continue printing. Currency weaken to push gold price up. Hehe.

😇天堂与地狱😈就在当下

Vice Chair is well known. Chair is supposed to be well-connected. I saw in their website their investor meeting coming so maybe you can pay them a visit, but say limited to 20 seats which I'm not sure if that's permissible Smile

Maybe you have a better idea after meeting them.

From AR23, pretty interesting guy I suppose:

(1) Starts the annual report with a recap of humanity progress, ala Niall Ferguson style, but in Chinese.

人类从野蛮过渡到文明,历经了一段漫长历史。
Translation as below (but unfortunately, doesn't capture that poetic essence)
Humanity has transitioned from barbarism to civilization, experiencing a long history

(2) Pendatang advisor to the Kelantan State Government who has been under Islamic PAS rule for 30years (and going).

(3) Artist by training, holding solo exhibits across ASEAN and visiting professor at the Chinese National Academy of Arts. Did he manage to cross paths with Zhang Yi Mou? Looking at this China credentials, (2) becomes more incredible in the  Pendatang context.

(4) Draws a ~3mil SGD salary, which is ~60% of NP for FY23.

Since emerging nations ain't no US (who can pass OBBA to reduce taxes even as the deficit rises), a State with emptying coffers need to find money from somewhere. Indonesia has already raised their mineral export taxes (gold, nickel etc) since late last year and a few years ago, the Msian Federal budget had a one-time prosperity tax to balance its books in 2022.

CNMC Goldmine to appeal against Kelantan’s higher gold, silver royalty rates

A circular – issued by the Kelantan State Land and Mines Office – indicated that the royalty rate payable for gold is revised up to 15 per cent from 10 per cent; while the corresponding rate for silver is revised to 12 per cent, up from 10 per cent, with effect from Jan 1, 2026.

CNMC Goldmine is currently working closely with all relevant stakeholders, including its joint venture partner – Kelantan State Economic Development Corp – and the Kelantan Mining Association, to make representations and submit an appeal against the proposed increases.

The group said that based on the advice received from its Malaysian legal advisers, it understands that any variation to royalty rates imposed by a state authority is generally required to be supported by publication in the official gazette for it to take legal effect. It added that no official gazette publication was attached to the circular effectively revising the royalty rates to the new rates stated above. “As at (Thursday), the company has not been served with such published official gazette,” said CNMC Goldmine.
