Memphis Trip

We Had a Great Time Ya'll

It was so wonderful to be with BreeAnn again! I miss her. She made a wonderful tour guide for us all through Memphis and the surrounding areas. In the evening when Bret got home from school we enjoyed playing games together and then on the weekend were able to enjoy more of their beautiful sites with him. The weather was absolutely gorgeous the whole time, hooray. We enjoyed hunting armadillos in the dark, eating tons of fabulous food, again and again, going on many beautiful nature walks by the great Mississippi and through the heavily wooded forests with the beautiful changing leaves, and just being together. The boys also enjoyed flying on the airplane. Thanks for all your southern hospitality Bret and BreeAnn, we are so excited for all the adventures you will have in Horn Lake, Mississippi.

Happy Birthday Nana

Happy 99th Birthday Nana

We had a fun weekend celebrating Nana's birthday. At 47 I ache so bad that I can't imagine the fun that 99 will bring. Nana makes it look good though. How I love Nana and am so grateful for her goodness in my life. When I was young Nana would always give me a book for Christmas or my birthdays. She taught me to love reading. Nana has always been busy with her hands making my first kids sweaters and blessing blankets beautifully knit. She always loved the outdoors and her flowers. The thing she taught me the most, in her most difficult times with Papa Joe, was to love, be patient and always look for the positive. Nana is always so grateful for everything! Her positives will always out-weight her negatives due to mind over matter. What a wonderful gift. I miss my weekly shopping trips with Nana now that she is living with other family. I have some very cherished memories from those days. May we always remember that the life we live, daily touches others for good (or bad). Make every day a positive one!

PS Thanks Jenny for the pictures!

White Coat Ceremony for Bret

We are so proud of Bret for receiving his white coat! The optometry school has a big ceremony for the 1st year students to give them their coats. Bret's mom and grandmother came into town for the celebration. BreeAnn loved having company and seeing more of the sites and sounds of Memphis with visitors. We are anxious to try out her tour guide skills - when we come to visit! BreeAnn finally will have to give up her bead wreath skills and go to work. She got a job at a call center that helps people with their diabetic supplies. She says that she seems to be picking up the Southern drawl, having to speak with so many people all day long. Life seems to be going well for Bret and BreeAnn, we are so happy and proud of them. BreeAnn has now started her own blog so jump over there to see more of their fun pictures with Bret's mom and grandma. http://breevisandbrethead.blogspot.com/
