Thankfulness Continued

I have so many things to be thankful for that I will never be able to put them all on here, but here are a few more that I'd like to share.

- Scott.  It's hard to imagine that there were times years ago that we just did not get along.  Now he's so my bud!  We have even been compared to Monica and Ross on friends because we're so quirky and sometimes have our own language.  Love you, Bro!  I'm thankful for his wife, Cheryl and kids, Caleb and yet-to-be-born M&M too!!
 - Indian food.  Seriously, I could eat it every day!
 - Safe travels for Barrett.  We are so glad he's back home!!!
 - God's answers of "yes" to some friends who have been wanting babies!  One of those friends just had her sweet little girl.  And the other friend is now pregnant!  I'm so happy for you!!!  Children truly are a blessing.  I just did not really know how much until having one of my own.

Playful Girl

Playing in her crib.
She really likes to crane her head around like this.  Too funny.

Again trying to crane her head around to be upside down in my lap.

As promised...

I have tried to upload the laughing video several times and it's just not working.  I'll try to find out what the problem is.  In the meantime, here are some recent pics.

These next two are right after one of the times she rolled over.

Waiting...

While I am waiting for some recent pics to load to the computer (it's taking forever!) I thought I'd just type a quick post.  Other bloggers are so good at posting every couple of days or every day, but that's just not me.  But hopefully, I'll get better at posting more frequently.

I know I keep saying this, but Lily is just growing so fast!  I really can not believe she is already 5 months old!!!  When did that happen?  She is just the most adorable little thing!  I got her to laugh big time today.  I even caught it on video...well sort of.  The sound is there, but I had the camera sitting on the floor next to her and when I was getting her belly, my hair got in the way.  But the sound of her laughter is what's key, even though seeing it is even better.  If my pics and videos ever load, I'll see if I can get it posted.  She rolled over two more times today.  She really amazes me.  She's strong (physically and willed) and smart and so cute and fun!  I'm so blessed that I get to be with her all day!  I'm really grateful!  And I have a great husband who even will help me with dinner when he gets home from a hard day.  My intention is to have it done so all he has to do is relax and play with Lily, but sometimes that just doesn't happen.  Oh well.  I'm glad he's understanding.  :)

We have the annual baby blessing coming up at church.  How fun to be a part of that!  Kelly, who took our professional photos, will take a picture of all of the babies born at PVCC during 2008 at the same time.  We also sent in a couple of pictures that we took.  It's going to be during the evening service on Sunday the 25th.  If you're in the area, feel free to come!

Talking about Kelly reminded me - I need to schedule Lily's 6 month photo session with her.  I know that will be here before I can even blink!

Another fun thing that we have started is something called MUGG at church.  Mothers Under God's Guidance.  Several moms meet weekly to study God's word, work through a study book and just fellowship together.  This past Wednesday morning (9:30 - whew, that's early for us!) was the first one this semester and I really enjoyed it.  I'm looking forward to the rest.  I have several friends that go and I'm looking forward to getting closer with them and making new friends too!

Ugh.  The pics are still loading.  The "quick" post turned out to be not-so-quick but I kept thinking the pics would finish.  Well they haven't and it's late, so I'm going to bed.  I'll post pics and maybe a video tomorrow or Saturday.

She rolled over!!!

I put Lily on her back with a couple of toys this evening while I was getting dinner ready.  I peeked around the corner at her several times just to check on her.  Secretly I was hoping to find her on her tummy.  And then I found her that way!  Yay!  I'm so excited!

She's been doing very well.  She gives kisses all the time now.  Oh and she laughed for me too!  It is absolutely the cutest thing in the entire world.  She's getting stronger and more fun every day.  I think she's going to have a stubborn and feisty streak.  It's already started making an appearance.

Last week she went to the doctor for a regular checkup.  Lily is 14 1/2 lbs and 24 in.  Amazing how fast she's grown!  The doc was very pleased with Lily's growth and development.  She even put my mind at ease about a couple of things I thought Lily might be behind on.  She said that you have to take the books with a grain of salt.  I knew that, but it was nice to hear it from the pro.  She said we should keep on doing what we are doing...well with one exception.  She did say it was time to get Lily falling asleep on her own.  I know she's right, but I'm afraid it's going to be hard.  We haven't started it yet...I need a few days to get used to the idea and to decide what my routine is going to be.  I know I should get started soon.  I have to tell myself that it's what's best for her and it's not about me.  We'll see how it goes!  :)

(I'll post more pics soon.)

Thankfulness

As 2008 wound down, I was very mindful of how blessed my year was.  And not only 2008, but my life in general has been richly blessed.  Here are just a few of the things that I am thankful for (in no particular order).

-I'll start with the obvious.  Our sweet Lily.  I am so grateful that she was in God's plan for us.  I am honored that He trusted me to be her mother.  I know I will not be even close to perfect, but I pray for His guidance as we raise her.  She makes Barrett and me so happy!  She lights up my entire day with just one of her smiles.
-Ice cream and chocolate.  Two of life's little pleasures.  :)  (Hey, I told you this was in no particular order!)
-My parents.  They are such wonderful examples of what Christian parenting is.  I hope I can do half as well.  Mom and Dad, I don't tell you enough - Thank you and I love you.
-Modern conveniences.  You know, indoor plumbing, electricity, microwaves, fancy kitchen gadgets, DVR (oh, what did I do without it?), cell phones...  The list goes on.  I know I am hopelessly spoiled.  But every now and then, like when the electricity goes out, I do try to realize how fortunate I am instead of taking these conveniences for granted.
-Great friends.  I have so many in all different states.  So many of you, near and far, have made such a difference in my life.  It's wonderful to have friends to help you through tough times, to talk about everyday things with, and celebrate good times with.  I wish I could see you all more.
-My in-laws - all of them.  It is truly wonderful to marry into a loving Christian family.  They have all welcomed me from the first time I met them.  I pray that Lily is also blessed in this way.
-God.  There is just so much I could say about how much He has blessed me and how grateful I am for His mercy and our salvation.  While we were at Mamaw and Papaw's house for Christmas, Mamaw commented on how much God has blessed our family and that she is going to make a point to look for Him and his blessings everyday.  She's absolutely right!  And she has inspired me to do the same.
-Barrett.  He is an amazing husband and father.  Even as I write that, it just doesn't seem to convey as much as I mean.  He is loving, considerate, intelligent, patient and so many wonderful things.  It is my favorite thing on this earth to see him interact with Lily.  He takes such good care of both of us in so many ways.  I really can't say enough about him so in the interest of wrapping up this novel I'll say:  I could not have picked a better partner in this life.  I love you, honey.
