friday Flaunt

Made some applique drink coasters for Christmas presents - these are for someone who loves purples - and having friends over for drinks.
Hope she enjoys using them.

These are some of my 'twosies' of the first clue for Carolina Christmas.

mid week flaunt

Actually not sure that I can really call this a flaunt!
It is the arrival of the newest member of our family.

Thanks to Diana, a long time friend in Michigan, this arrived yesterday.

Maryke was here and she absolutely LOVES opening parcels - so I let her have the honours and I clicked away with the camera ...

So here she is ... waiting patiently for some TLC, restoration and a name !

Thank you Diana, you are awesome.
Also thanks to Dawn in Florida for encouraging Diana - all unknown to me till the baby was on it's way!

Meant to be Friday's flaunt but I am late

All the prompts were in for the Loosen up!! ATC card swap
so here they are cut apart and finished off.
They are now on their way to the recipients.
Well those that are being swapped are on their way - my background piece of fabric was a little larger than stated but I did not cut it down to size so now I have spares for casual swapping.

Have received one card and it is soooo different to the way I made mine, will be interesting to see how others interpreted the theme.

There were two choices given for each prompt
my choices were:
#1 - "randomly with eyes closed choose a fabric from your scrap bucket"
I had been cutting up the shirts for Carolina Christmas quilt so it was the shirt seams that came to hand.
#2 -"add something you find in the kitchen"
Used an onion bag
#3 - "add two more colours"
I threaded two rinnons through the mesh of the onion bag
#4 - "do a fancy embroidery stitch"
My machine for embroidery is at the doctors so used a stitch on my ever reliable old workhorse machine using variegated thread, was disapointed with the result - used the same thread for the edging of the cards.
#5 - "add beads"
added small brown beads
#6 - "partly cover something"
Used red tulle.
Certainly took me out of my comfort zone.

Friday flaunt 1st week December

Next prompt for the "Loosen up" ATC swap was to attach something from the kitchen, so I used an onion bag, couldn't think of anything else.
Next prompt was to add two other colours, so used two very narrow ribbons and wove them through the mesh of the onion bag.
Next prompt was for decorative stitching, used a variegated thread and went over the lines of stitching that held the mesh. Photo was not uploaded.

Next prompt is to add beads, going to the city by bus on Thursday, a five hour return journey might be made more pleasurable by using the time to sew on the beads.
The cards should be winging their way to the other participants very soon after the beads go on.
.
Then hopefully will start seeing some progress on things other than small cards!!!!

H is for ...? was the theme for these cards in the alphabet series.
I chose to use hieroglyphics to depict H.
The alphabet shows H to be drawn similar to the way I decorated these cards.

This is my last birthday card of the year 2009 to be sent, the recipient has recently moved so my card of choice has a wrought iron lace work gate opening on to a garden and the ATC was made with lace to reflect the gate, hope she likes it.

Since last Friday the purple and silver Christmas cards have been sent, they were sent in photo cards with some silver holographic card being used in place of a photo.

Have started on Bonnie Hunter's mystery so am hoping for progress by next Friday.
