Dad/Mike decides to take Sarah out on a date. Now that she is 16 1/2 he wants to make sure she gets some 'good' dating practice in while living in Santiago. He decides to show her the town. Here is what they did:
He asked her if she would like to go, and of course she was surprised, and said, "sure, how random. Why, where will we go, etc?" just like a typical teenager would ask any guy who wanted her to go out with him somehwere. So he's not just ANY typical teenager, so he brought her flowers, favorite Gerber daiseys, hot pink, and then she dressed up so they could go to the Hyatt Restaurant, the 5 star hotel here in Santiago. They went to a favorite restaurnat, Anakena, that has incredible service and delicious food. It is beautiful setting, and gorgeous with Sarah looking so fabulous. She had on her new lovely lace shirt she is so tickled to find, and her tall, gladiator shoes that puts her another 4 inches taller, practically even with Dad!
She only wears those for dances or special occasions, and this was special. They talked and talked, and I heard from both of them that it was so great...just a fun way to spend the evening. Of course Dad opens her door, treats her so well, that she will not settle later for just anyone taking her out in the future!

YES, you did hear correctly!
We are happy to report, that yes, Greg did make the BYU Football team. He tells us it is just unbelievable and like a dream come true. Here is what he reports to us....
He did the tryout on Monday, and then in about 1 hr they had the list posted. He was so excited. They had about 80 tryout for the 10 walkon openings they were holding. He said that they filled out a mountain of paper work, and then had to be back later for the first day of practice. They told him he would get the works; shoes, clothes, pads, helmet, and even a locker. He said the rookies are in a different section that the starters, but he doesn't even care. He told us that Coach Mendenhall came in and chewed them out saying they were nothing yet, and had to EARN their rights. Greg loved every minute of the chewing out. They were told NOT to hurt or injure any of the starters in any of their plays, moves, tackles, etc or they were in BIG trouble. They lift weights MWF at 6am, and then come for actual practice 5 days a week, from 2-6pm Daily. I gently remind him that he also has to go to class and study, to be eligible. The rest....he should tell you about, if you ask him_ Read more!

A bit of culture never hurt anyone?
Mike and I went on a date one day to the Cultural Instituto de Providencia, here in Santiago. They had some beautiful exhibits from Russia Czars and their opulence, along with some impressive Silver displays from the wealthy in Peru.
We took the metro, and that was an experience like always, fun and international, because we are always reminded that, "we aren't in Kansas anymore, Toto!"
We took fotos and had fun being out together. Read more!

Sarah is playing Volleyball
This year Sarah decided to take on Volleyball. She hadn't played officially, but this is a great opportunity for her to learn.Sarah is taking a full load of classes, trying to decide if she can have enough credits to apply early to BYU. Playing another sport, showing girls' Volleyball here, will help on her application, along with English Editor of the school yearbook, 2 English classes, and IB Biology, High Level/AP History of Americas, Choir, Alg 2, and Consumer Math with BYU on line. She is one busy girl here.
