Christmas email....

Instead of sending out christmas cards like everyone else I usually send out an email so I thought I would post my christmas email.....

Wow it is so hard to believe that 2008 is already over and it is time to start a new year. This past year has had its ups and downs but I am so grateful for the lesson and joy I have been able to accomplish. So here are a few highlights from Amy's travel log and an update from my normal day life.... As I looked back at pictures I have taken from a few of my trips I have to consider my self very blessed for the chance to travel and enjoy life. So here is the top 5 trips of 2008 1- The US open golf tournament in San Diego. It was so much fun to walk the golf course and see those amazing players play the game that I have fallen in love with. I was sitting in the grand stand on hole 13 when Phil Mickelson fell apart. We got to spend the first part of the week taking pictures and trying to get players to sign my flag. I even go to meet my favorite player Adam Scott. Thanks to my dad for getting us tickets! 2-Hawaii. I got to spend 10 days in the islands that I love so much. I was fun to take girlfriends who had never been there before and to be the tour guide. I always love the chance to sit back and enjoy the sun and surf. 3-San Francisco for Tanecia's birthday. For T's birthday we told her to choose some place she had never been and our group of friends would go for the weekend. She chose San Fran. It was a blast to have a few days away from work that the 8 of us could hang out and play in a city where there is so much to do. It was a blast!!! 4- Portland!!! (well kind of twice) One of my best friends took a traveling job in Portland so T and I went up there to spend some time with him and see where he works. I also went to oregon in the spring with my parents to see my Aunt and Uncle who live in Medford. Both trips were amazing and no neither time I ran into my little brother. 5- Southern California. Tanecia and I took a quick trip to california in the spring to go see a few shows down there. Wicked was amazing and it was so great to spend a few days with my best friend. There were so many others that I should of made the list but I don't want to make this the longest email ever but lets just say we did spend 2 hours sitting on the runway in Grand Junction Colorado. Well as far as my normal day to day life I am truly blessed to have the best job ever!!! I love the coworkers that I get to spend every day with, and the get chance to help people. I just moved into a house with 4 other girls. They are the best people ever. I am truly blessed to have such great girls in my life and look forward to great adventures. I am blessed to have amazing family who is supportive in whatever I do. I grateful for the amazing friends that I have and their support in everything I do. I am blessed beyond my means. I wish all of you the best and hope you are all doing great and having fun in life. Remember to learn from the past, look to the future but live in the present!!! love Amy

Black Friday..... what an adventure

I have never been one to go out the day after Thanksgiving aka Black Friday, but decided if steve could do it I could. Steve camped the night at walmart and I was pretty sure I wasn't ready for that. So I took the easier assignment to go to shopko. I got up at 4:20 and get went in my pjs. I got there and the line wasn't too bad I was in the first 100 people. It wasn't that bad exept that it rained on us for about 20 mins before the doors opened... It was kind of crazy, but really fun to see what everyone was getting and all the excited about the different sales going on.... It was alot funnier than I thought it would be plus I got everything on my list! I am not sure I would do it again I will probably just send a list of things with steve!!!

ok I give up....

So I promised myself that I wasn't going to make a big deal out of this crazy chick flick that everyone has been talking about for weeks and weeks and weeks, but I was sucked in. I had read the books and had loved everyone, but wasn't sure what I would think of the movie. So just so everyone knows I LOVED IT!!! I was not really excited for it because I was so sick of all the girls at work talking about it and looking on the internet all day long, and I really had no expectations of how good or bad it would be. And we all really know that deep down I am a huge romatic cheeseball so wouldn't this movie fit me? I saw it with my sister and best friend Tanecia. I made the mistake of sitting in between them because all they wanted to do was talk about it and I just wanted to sit and take the whole thing in.... But it really was the best!! We are already planning to see it again.

Only my 3rd BYU game ever!!!!

So anyone who knows my family or I you would know that we aren't that big of BYU fans, but now that we actually have someone to cheer for we have been following a bit more this year. My cousin Bri's husband plays linebacker and is alot of fun to watch.

I was able to go to one of the home games this season. (Thanks for the tickets Bri and Coleby) It really was alot of fun to watch Coleby play and to see all the players afterwards up close. So even though I am not the biggest fan of the Blue I will still cheer for family members.... Congrats on a great season Coleby!!!

Moving again.....

As I pushed the door combination for the last time and wheeled the shopping cart back down to the parking garage (I will explain this later) last night, I thought back about the 8 different times I have moved in the past 5 years.... wow that is alot!!! Almost all of the for the better with friends left behind and lessons learned, I have been able to reflect back and look at some of the things that I have learned about through these moves.

1- I have been blessed with great friends and family who are always willing to drop everything to help me pack or haul things... thank you!!!!

2- I was blessed to have a parents who have amazing packing abilities and who have passed them on. My dad is always the one who packs the car when we are going anywhere because he seems to see how everything will fit and not have to take more trips then needed. I believe this was passed down to him from my grandpa Bob who could fit a square peg into a circle hole. Thank you for passing on those simple but genius ideas!!!

3- Now to the shopping cart.... Thanks Lindsey and Steve for the wonderful shopping cart idea!!! For those of you who don't know what it is like to live in a major apartment complex where there are several levels and it is hard to haul everything in from the car... I would like to introduce you to the wonderful shopping cart!!! (at this point my mother is probably laughing because she thinks I am obsessed with the shopping cart) In the building that I just moved out of there were 3 shopping carts that were all parked in the parking garage and anytime there were lots of grocery's, junk from the car, and moving in or out you could just go down and get one then fill it up as high as possible then you could just use the elevator to go up and down.... really is the coolest idea... when Lindsey and Steve lived in SLC then had one that lived on there balcony.

So as I am in this transition between one place to another I am grateful for what I have and blessed very much... and no I will not be taking Chase's idea of living under the bridge!!!

Portland

A couple of weekends ago Tanecia and I went to Portland to visit our friend Ammon who is working as a travelling MRI tech there. The weather was amazing the whole weekend. It was kind of strange to in the same city as my little bro and not be able to see him, but it will make his homecoming even better in June. We had a blast her are just a few of the hundred of pictures we took.

We spent friday in the city just walking around, shopping, and eating good seafood while Ammon worked then on saturday took a drive alittle bit south to see some waterfalls (I can't remember the name of them) Then drove out to seaside and spent the weekend on the coast. We had a blast!!! We miss working and playing with Ammon but excited that he is having new adventure and that he will let us come and play anytime.

Who knew???

ok so lets say there was a little accident at the gas pump on monday... but it was not my fault. I was trying to do the nice thing and help a girl with an address when she pulled out the gas hose and forgot to turn it off. Well I ended up with gas all over my new jeans and my new hoody (which if you know me I was more worried about the hoody then anything else) I really wasnt sure what to do about taking the smell out of them, so after some research on the internet I found a suggestion that I thought I would try...... And guess what it worked!!!! So I am hear to testify about this interesting method.... first air dry the item of clothing outside for as long as possible then soak the item in a bucket of 1 liter of coke, one box of baking soda, and cold water. Let this soak for 24 hours then let the item dry until it is dry. Then wash the item of clothing by itself in the washer with laundry soap in really cold water...... crazy huh??? and really random.... but it worked for me!!!! Well that is most fun adventure for the week!!! So am going on vacation to Hawaii this weekend and wont be back for 10 days so I probably won't post for a few (bri!!!) but check back soon!!!!

This past weekend I got to go to Sacramanto for my cousin Justin's wedding. It was amazing!!! Congrats Lindsay and Justin!!!!

They were sealed in the Sacramento Temple.

Traci, Amy, Kim, Carrie, Sam

The family dinner and reception was held at some property that her family owns in Auburn. It was really pretty with lots of flower, tents, lanterns, lots of food, a lake, pigs, cows, a big barn, and lots of lights. It was amazing and really fun.

While I was there I got to hang out with one of my great friends Athina!!! It was great to see her!! And we can't wait to hang out in Hawaii in 2 week!!!

She took me to this really cool mall that has a fountain in the middle of a round-about that was designed by the same guy who did the belligo fountain. So it is a bit smaller but still dances to the music. It was really fun everyone enjoyed it!!! Here is some cool video!!!

The best week ever!!!!!

I got to go to San Diego to the US Open with my family!!! It was the coolest thing I have done. We had 3 tickets to the practice rounds mon-wed then 2 tickets to the tournament thurs-sun. So we took turns going different days (steve and I went everyday) I was so amazing to see how all these people get paid to play golf. Golf is my favorite sport so I had a blast watching these amazing players make some incrediable shots. We also went to the temple, old town, sea world, and eat lots of good food. Here are just a few pictures: (you can see all of them on my facebook page)

Tiger Woods the number one golfer in the world

Phil Mickelson the number 2 golfer in the world. Go lefty!! we were sitting on the 13th green when he had the melt down of 08. (he took a 9 on a par 5 hole) It was hard to watch!!!

Adam Scott my favorite golfer!!! he is currently number 3 in the world. He played the open with a broken finger. He is a great player and a fun guy to watch.
Dad, Steve, and I with the trophy!!! steve really wanted to kiss it.

During the practice rounds on mon-wed the players would walk by and if they were cool they would sign different things. I bought a us open flag and just started having playing sign it. I got about 20 different guys to sign it. This is Aaron Baddley signing my flag.

My mom and I on the fairway of the 18th hole. This trip was awesome!!! Thanks to dad for getting the tickets and letting us enjoy something that we all love. And thanks to mom for putting up with another golf vacation. Truely one of the best weeks of my life.

2008 so far.......

So technically this picture was taken in 2007 but I wanted to start my year in review with it. Lindsey, Brinley, and me at Walt Disney World in Dec 2007. It was so much fun to hang out with these two for a week in Florida (sorry Steve) Brinley was a blast to have a DisneyWorld and she loved the fireworks.

Since I was a little behind for this year I thought I would just show a few pictures of things that I have done since 2008 started so the first one here is golfing in St. George January 1, 2008. Dad, Steve, and I took a fast road trip to the kind of warm south for a quick round of 18 holes. It was so much fun and we all had a great time.

A weekend in Vegas with friends... we went to the Lenny Kravitz concert at the Palms resort and just had a fun weekend away from the hospital. And..........

We got stuck on an airplane because the airport in SLC was closed due to snow so we sat on the plane in Grand Junction Colorado for 2 hours!!!!

Tanecia and I went to Southern California for a girls weekend!!! We had a blast.... we went to the beach, a Cirque Du Soleil show, and we saw Wicked. Both shows were really good. It was fun to hang out with my cousin Kim who lives down there. I love Cali!!!!

Many road trips on the plains of Wyoming to see Lindsey, Steve, and Baby B!!! It is so sad to have them so far away but look forward to the time we do get to spend together.

I had the chance to go to Oregon with my parents just last weekend because they were running a race with my aunt and uncle who live in Medford. I was really pretty flying in to Portland, this is Mt. Hood from the air. It was also kind of weird because we drove through the town where my little brother is serving his mission. We didn't stop or try to contact him but it was just weird knowing that we were in the same state at the same time.

Congrats to all the runners!!! I was just there to support!!! I love Oregon!!! I forget how beautiful it is until I get there. Thanks to Aunt Debi and Uncle Jim for letting us stay with them and it was fun to golf and hang out with Mark and Traci. I can't wait for them to move to Utah. So there are just a few highlights from the first couple of months in 2008 so here on out I hope to just keep this blog up to date!!!
