Eli and I love you!

"Mother's Song, A traditional lullaby"

My heart is like a fountain true
that flows and flows with love to you
as chirps the lark unto the tree
so chirps my pretty babe to me

There is not a rose wherever I seek
as comely as my baby's cheek
there's not a comb of honey bee
so full of sweets as babe to me

There's not a star that shines on high
is brighter than my baby's eye
There's not a boat upon the sea
can dance as baby does to me

No silk was ever spun so fine
as is the hair of baby mine
My baby smells more sweet to me
than smells in spring the elder tree

A little fish swims in the well
So in my heart does baby dwell
A little flower blows on the tree
My baby is the flower to me

Ten thousand parks where deer do run
Ten thousand roses in the sun
Ten thousand pearls beneath the sea
my babe more precious is to me.

Who is this toddler, and what has he done with my little baby??

*Eli at Orr Park*

We've been enjoying the 'spring' weather that has suddenly arrived here. Each day I put Eli in his red wagon and we walk down to the lake and look at the ducks and turtles - then we head to the playground to play and enjoy the sunshine. I think we have both had 'cabin fever' lately, so the change in temperature was quite welcome.

*at our neighborhood park*

We took Eli on his first hike at Oak Mountain on Saturday. I carried him in the moby wrap the first half of the hike, and Chris carried him back (because the way back involved lots of hills...)
We had such a nice time - It was a much needed day together as a family. Just being able
to get out and enjoy some fresh air and some quiet was so refreshing for all of us.

The beginning of the year always brings the inevitable...
New Years Resolutions.
They usually are the typical:

~eating healthy
~losing weight
~working out
and so on...

My goal this year is somewhat different.
I've already been doing the previously mentioned things this past year,
and I plan on continuing that healthy lifestyle.
I've decided on a project for myself.
A gratitude project.
I found the inspiration on this website the other day and really like the concept:

My goal this year is to be more thankful for the things in my life (big and small) and to take the
time to acknowledge the One who has given me everything.
What are some of your personal goals for 2011?

Our baby turned 1 this past weekend.
~
Hard to believe that just a year ago he was this tiny...
*sniff sniff*
Stop growing up!
Now!
Stop it, I mean it!

 This is a recent picture..
*waaaahh...*
he is so big now!

It has been a wonderful year. Definitely one of the happiest
years I have ever had, and also the most difficult.
We have been blessed to have a pleasant, laid back child, so
he definitely brightens every day for us.

His recent achievements:

* taking a few steps at a time by himself
*decided that his favorite word is 'Dada'
*eating everything in sight (I can't imagine how he will be as a teenager!)
*getting over his shyness and once again being silly and outgoing
*two bottom teeth

Happy Birthday, Eli!
I can't wait to see what year #2 has in store for you!
We love you!

Happy Fall Y'all!

We enjoyed an afternoon at the pumpkin patch on Sunday.

Eli almost got eaten by a giant rogue pumpkin.

Cheese!

I didn't realize that each day was a different Food Holiday...
I guess more frequent celebrations are in order.

I was thrilled to see that my birthday is National Peach Pie Day.
Eli was born on National Cookie Day.
Chris's birthday is National Truffles Day. Oh. My. Goodness.
I'm going to have to say that I think we were definitely born on 3 of the best days of the year.

Tomorrow, October 14, is National Chocolate Covered Insect Day.
I don't believe we will be celebrating.
Oh yeah, and December 13 is Ice Cream and Violins day... What?

~

What Food Holiday is your birthday on? I'd love to know!
