St. George & School

We went up to St. George the weekend of the 8th for my niece's wedding. Bethany & Lance were kind enough to let us stay with them (Thanks again Bethany!). The 8th is also Brett's birthday so we went golfing since that's what he loves to do. Unfortunately he played worse than he's played in probably 10 years- he was rather embarassed. It didn't really help that he was sick the week before and was still weak from it. But, you have those bad golf games sometime- hopefully it's out of his system now. :) We went to the Mandarin Buffet afterwards which was really good. Brett & I went to the reception for a while and that night we played games with Lance & Bethany- I killed them all in a card game... (he he he... j/k, I don't think you can win with a negative score...) We had a really great time though and it was so fun to get to spend time with the Hill's.
My girls started school again on th 10th, they were so excited. Mom was excited too, they were getting bored being at home all the time! The excitement has kind of worn off by now but I think they're still enjoying it. I started school this week. I'll finally get to graduate this semester! Sad that it's only my Asssciate's, but at least it's something! I'm taking General Biology, Music Appreciation, & Database Management. I went to my classes yesterday and all I can say is I'm going to be doing a lot of reading. I just hope I can keep up!

Excuses

So I just spent the last hour or so checking everyone's blogs and seeing how everyone is doing. I found out a lot of things I didn't know about pregnancies, school, boot camp, and all sorts of stuff and I realized- Geez I'm out of touch!! And then I realized that the last time I posted to my blog was in December... sorry, I just always seem to space blogging.
We've been having a great summer. We went to Roosevelt with some of Brett's friends from work and we had a blast! (Unfortunately I forgot my camera though so no pics, sorry!) Brett and I both went knee boarding for the first time and I am so proud to say that I kicked his butt! I stayed up way longer than he did- although I paid for it later- my arms were killing me for like a week! :) The kids loved swimming and riding around in the boat.
The girls have loved being home from school, but I think they're getting ready for school again, Mom is pretty boring! :) The boys have enjoyed having them home to play with though.
I went to the doctor about a month ago to get my thyroid checked. I had wondered for a long time if it was working right- turns out it wasn't. The doctor said I had the second lowest level she'd seen in 13 years- not bad huh? So needless to say they put me on medication- and I feel like I've woken up. Anyone who has had thyroid problems will understand this. It's like for the past however long I've been some caveman holed up somewhere hiding from everything and suddenly I'm remembering who I really am. It's amazing how much hormones affect your body.
Here's a few pics to end off- :)

Fasting- Day 3

So I found out that my adrenal glands aren't functioning like they should so I decided to do a cleansing fast to try and help my body get rid of toxins. Brett, being the wonderful husband that he is, offered to do it with me so I didn't have to go it alone. So starting Monday we did two days of nothing but raw fruits and veggies, then it changes to nothing but water and pure juices- we're on day 3 of that now. It actually hasn't been as bad as I thought it would be. I thought I would be starving and weak all the time, but I haven't been. Today is Brett's last day, I'm going to try for two more days, then we have to go back to two more days of fruits and veggies before we can go back to normal food. I definitely have to say it heightens your sense of smell- I seem to be able to sense even the slightest trace of the scent of food- and everything smells good. I went in to work last night and they had some left over Subway sandwiches there. I love Subway. It was very hard to sit there and smell that food and not go eat it. But I kept myself in control. Brett has noticed the same heightened awareness. And Brett loves sugar cookies, so of course, yesterday one of the ladies at work brought in some sugar cookies. He said they looked so good, thick with lots of frosting. But he was strong and didn't give in either. It's actually been kinda fun to go through the fast with Brett- and it has sure made it a whole lot easier!! :)
