Crazy Story

Ok, so here comes a big long story, but its worth the read!

So Labor Day weekend, me and the fam went camping down in southern Utah.
About 30 miles outside of Moab.
We were at "bear camp."
This time of year, my dad and brother and their friends set up camp down there and basically go bear hunting every single weekend.
So this particular weekend, we all decided to join them.
It was quite the eventful camping trip, and an enjoyable one at that!
So i consisted of a lot of laying around, taking naps, playing games, and riding the 4-wheeler.
Here comes the good stuff.

So Sunday we decided to take a little drive to "the hole in the rock."
We wanted to get ice cream there and go in the "zoo."
I put quotes around zoo because there was maybe 15 animals and it was just real little.
We got to feed the animals though, which was really cool, but also REALLY terrifying!
The animals that i saw were:
-Deer
-Buffaloes
-A Zebra
-A Camel
-Sheep
-Wallabies
-Ostriches
-Alpaca
-Mini Horses
-Chickens and Roosters
-Something that i don't know

Here i am feeding the Ostrich and being scared to death:

And here is Eric feeding the Alpaca

It was quite the adventure! So after the zoo we toured the house in the rock, got yummy ice cream and headed back to camp.

So let me describe how you get to camp.
You turn off the highway, onto a road.
You turn off this road, onto a dirt road.
You turn off this dirt road, onto a "private" dirt road that leads just to our camp.

Ok, that is important for this next part.
So after ice cream, we headed back to camp.
My dad, mom, amy, and eric were in the truck in front of us.
Emily, tyler, lucy, and me were in the car behind them.
Randy, Cody (dad's friend), and Jake (cody's lil bro) stayed back at camp to nap.
So we are driving down our private road back to camp, when about half way there we see a truck stopped in the road. I figure this guy is broken down and needs help, but it was a little strange that he was on our private road when it only leads to our camp and nothing else.
Well, let me tell you, this guy was CRAZY!
So as we pull up behind him, my dad asks him if he was ok or needed help.
The guy instantly started frieking out and swearing and threatening to kill all of us, and all that fun stuff. So then he decides to walk back to his truck.
Dad and eric instantly pull out there guns, because they were afraid thats what he was going back to the truck for.
As he is walking back, my mom and amy turn to us with pure panic on their faces and motion for us to back up.
Keep in mind that we have NO idea what was going on because we didn't hear the guy. So we start to back up. Me, being the person i am, was pissed that he was on OUR road and was now making us move for him.
I actually said "This is our road! Why do we have to move for him? He is in a truck, he can go off the road to get around us!"
I was NOT happy that he was inconveniencing us! Little did i know, he was a psycho!
So finally i call my mom to see what she wanted us to do and what was going on. After the trucks moved around for a few more seconds she told us just to drive past and go back to camp.
As we drive past, Tyler notices the anger in my dad's eyes and says "You're dad is PISSED, i better hurry and get Cody!'
So he speeds down the dirt road!
As we drive past the crazy guys truck, he revs his engine and pretends he is going to ram us. EXCUSE ME! I was ready to knock a guy out because i didn't know he was crazy, and he was irritating me.
So as we pull up to camp, dad and them pull up behind us and everyone started running!
Emily and i ran into the trailer and took care of Lucy, Eric ran in to get Cody and Jake and their guns, Amy ran to get Randy and his gun, then all the boys ran back to the truck with their guns and took off.
Talk about an adrenaline rush! I was shaking like a leaf!
So the guys were gone for a little bit, then came back to camp.
They went looking for the guy, not to kill him, but to make sure he left. They didn't find him, but luckily my mom had taken down his license plate number. We called 911 and told them what had happened, so they said they would watch for him on the highway.
Well i don't think i mentioned this, but the guy threatened to come back and kill all of us.
I don't think i assesed the situation correctly, because i really wasn't even that scared!
Honestly, the guy was so crazy, he couldn't find us if he TRIED!
So the next morning all the guys went hunting, but before they left my dad taught my mom how to use the gun in case anything did happen.
The gun wasn't needed, but it made us feel better about them leaving us girls.

So i would say this was quite the adventurous camping trip!
Love spending time with my family, even when crazy things like this happen!

One Big Summer Update

Well now that we are approaching fall, i say its about time for me to review the summer!
It was such a busy, fun, crazy, eventful, AWESOME summer!
Definitely one i will never forget!

Here are the things that happened:

This sweet little angel was born

Picture overload!!!

But wait, I'm just getting started :]

Then my beautiful sister, Amy, married the love of her life, Randy.
Oh and did i mention Lucy came on the same day as the wedding? CRAZY DAY!

I don't have the pictures from the photographer on my laptop so these aren't good ones, but you get the idea! It was a great wedding and i'm so happy for my sister and new Bro-in-law!

These two things were the main part of my summer! A lot of work went in to preparing for little Lucy to come to this earth and be with us. Between the, what, 5 baby showers? I'd say we put a lot of work into things. There isn't a second that i regret! I can't even describe how much i love that little one and i would do anything for her!

Also, a lot of work went into Amy's wedding! Dress shopping, dress un-picking, decoration shopping, wedding showers, reception planning, hair doing, decorating, and much more! It turned out to be such a great wedding and reception! I don't think it could have been much better than it was! I think Amy was very pleased and all of our hard work paid off! I'm so grateful for my relationship with my sister and so glad i was able to help with all her wedding shiz!

This summer may not have been one that was full of crazy, spontaneous things, but it was sure great! There is nothing i love more than my wonderful family, and this summer i was able to spend lots of time with them and help them out. I couldn't have asked for a better summer!

I bet you didn't know....

That i am fully aware that my blog still exists!
That i am fully aware that it has been MONTHS since my last post!
That i am fully aware that i am hypocritical because i used to get mad when people didn't post on their blog!
That i am fully aware that i suck at blogging.

So here's to being better, right?

Although i am committing to this, it does not come in to effect(affect?) immediately.
Its 2 in the morning for heaven sakes and i have to be up at 6!

So the point is, i am going to work on updating about my summer, and about the future as soon as this weekend is over and i have time to be on the computer!

Here's a sneak peak of what is to come:

Life update

Well, as much as it would be nice to have life slow down a little, it hasn't! So here comes a big long blog post to share all the stuff that has been going on this summer!

As most of you know, my sister emily is having a baby! She is due on July 25th, so not too far away! We have been anxiously waiting for the arrival of our soon to be Lucy Michele Standing! In preparation for this we have had 4 (yes, 4) baby showers! It has been so fun to see how excited  everyone is for her and all the cute things that the 2 of them were spoiled with! Emily has worked long and hard sewing cute bumpers for her crib, and i made a cute quilt for the crib that i was able to surprise her with at the last baby shower! Lucy is already so loved and we can't wait to be able to have her here with us! As of last thursday she was weighing in at about 6 lbs. 14 oz. so she will be a fair sized baby! This will be my very first niece and is going to be the first grandbaby for my mom and emily's mother-in-law! I can't wait to meet her and be her favorite aunt!

Along with the baby coming, we also have a wedding in the family! Amy is engaged!
Here is the cute couple:

Haha not the best picture, but oh well! We are so excited to have Randy as a new addition to the family! It has been crazy trying to get everything ready for the wedding! They got engaged about mid-may and are getting married on July 19th. Amy is in nursing school and couldn't possibly have a wedding when she was in school so they had to just get it over with fast. It has meant a lot of work for all of us, but it will be well worth it! I can't wait to see them married and living happily as a married couple.

Saturday, the 2nd was a very exciting day! Me and my two friends, Vince and Bryan, went skydiving :] it was SUCH a thrill! I just want to do it again, and again, and again! Its definitely an experience i will never forget!
Here are some of the pictures i got:
Here i am all suited up and ready to go

Isn't the plane so nice all taped together?

I panicked for a second

Here goes nothing...

The jump

plummeting at 110 mph

what a thrill

don't know why he covered my eyes?

i had such a blast!

the great view i had

when he pulled the shute

almost landing

the graceful landing!

Oh my gosh it was SO much fun! I definitely recommend going! You won't regret it!

Then to top this day off i got to go to the Stadium of Fire!

I have never been before, so it was such a blast! I got to see the lovely Brad Paisley

Man, i love him!

Then the fireworks were AMAZING!

There are few things i love more than fireworks! The fourth of July is my favorite holiday! I hope you all have a wonderful 4th and be safe out there!
