A New Bed, 1st Thanksgiving, and 3 Whole Years of Marriage!

I don't know why these pics weren't working, but I think i might have fixed it! Sorry, i'm just not very savvy with all this stuff! I gave up on the pics of the bed--it was taking too long and i've got too much to do, so just imagine a beautiful log bed.

The last couple of weeks have been rather eventful for our little family. A couple of weeks ago Brandon and I got my dream bed. I’ve always wanted one of my Grandpa Lanny’s custom made log beds, and now we have it. Grandpa and Brin (my lil’ sister) have been working for weeks on it and it turned out beautiful! I’m such a lucky girl! Maybe someday we’ll have a bigger bedroom to put it in, but as long as we can walk around it we can’t complain! Thanks Grandpa and Brin, we love it!
Brandon and I also celebrated our 3rd anniversary on November 20th! Three years doesn’t seem like a long time, but a lot can change! We went from being single to married, graduated from college, moved to Fillmore, bought a house, and had a baby—to name a few. Who knows what the next few years will bring!

For Thanksgiving we braved the outside world and took Breah to Vernal. She was an angel and slept the whole 4 hour ride, except to eat in Heber. We are hoping she is always that good in the car as she will probably be a traveling girl for most of her life. She was excited about meeting all the fam, especially her uncles Trevor and Jace, and wooed the crowd all weekend. We had a wonderful Thanksgiving at Grandma Nellie’s with G&G Martin, the Martins, the Wilkens, the Enloes, and the Morales’. Sunday Breah got to talk with her Grandma and Grandpa in Brazil via the internet (Photo: The Flower meets G&G, bottom right). We had a great weekend, but learned that traveling with a baby is a lot more exhausting than it used to be, so we were glad to be home!

Happy 24th Birthday Shaylah/Mommy!!!

Yes it is true today, Nov 29, is Shaylah's Birthday. Breah and I would just like to publicly wish her a wonderful day and upcoming year. We would also like to tell her how much we love her. Breah showed her love by being a really good sleeper last night so Mommy could get her rest. We plan on going to a very upscale restaurant in Nephi tonight to celebrate.

Bathtime Blues

Have you ever hated anything so much that you just cry yourself to sleep hoping that when you wake up it will all be over? Well, that is how Breah feels about baths. Either that or she fakes it hoping I will feel bad about interrupting her sleep (Hasn't worked yet though). I wish I could have taken a video, but I was a little tied up. Lucky for me she is quick to forgive. As soon as she was dressed she was happy and playful as can be and is now sleeping soundly in her bed. Today's bath was a special one cuz I got to take her O2 off! Life is so different when I only have a baby to carry and not the monitor and the O2 tank! I felt so free! This also allowed for me to dress her over her head for the first time! All things you other parents take for granted i'm sure, but it's all foreign to us right now! Anyway, here is so more pics of Breah without the tubes. I even got to take the stickers off and wash her poor little cheeks!

Breah's been tagged!

7 random facts about Breah, now that's something I can get into:

1. She has more clothes than she will ever know what to do with--we love all the hand-me-downs from her cousins Jorie and Ivy--thanks girls!
2. Everyone she meets comments on her big, wide eyes, and her abnormally large, yet still adorable, hands.
3. She has mastered the art of looking away from the camera everytime it's pointed in her direction
4. Has had more pictures taken of her in her short one month of life than anyone i've ever known, including her uncles Trevor and Jace (and before the invention of digital cameras i didn't think was possible)
5. Unlike her buddy Daphne, Breah hates bedtime and will usually fuss and whine for an hour before finally giving in (any hints Chelsie?)
6. She loves watching sports with her Daddy
7. Unless she is extremely tired or in need of some serious comfort, she prefers not to be held or cuddled (much to the dismay of her parents :( )

Darling Breah

As promised, here are some new pics of Breah. The one in the blue ducky jammies is from a while back when we were changing her canula, isn't it so nice to see that pretty face under there! We had a nice visit with the doc yesterday and we are now trying to wein her off the oxygen while she is awake (she still struggles in her sleep). She is doing pretty well and hopefully within the next couple of weeks we can be rid of it all. Breah weighed in at 9 lbs 8 oz, so she is definetely growing. And I think that if i could let her, she might sleep the majority of the night, but since she's been sick, and because she is so young, I have to wake her up if she doesn't eat in 5 hours. Hopefully this trend will continue!

One Month Old!

Well, Breah is one month old today. It seems like just yesterday I was doing everything I could think of to get her here, and now sometimes I find myself wishing I could freeze time and keep her little forever. I love everything about newborn babies, especially my own, but I have to admit she gets more fun everyday (not to mention cuter, too). Anyway, I thought I would write a little about Breah for those of you that are interested in hearing more about her daily life.
Breah is only one month old and I think I could potty train her. All I would have to do is hold her over the toilet every time I go to change her diaper. This is no exaggeration, every single time I’ve changed her diaper today she has either peed or pooped on me. And those of you with kids of your own know just how many diapers a baby can go through in one day. One time she managed to keep her own clothes clean by projecting it all on me. Sorry if that’s more info than you were wanting, but it is a big portion of our day.
Of course as her mother I think everything she does is just adorable, but I have to tell you about one of my favorite Breah moments. She is getting a lot better at taking naps now, but occasionally wakes up half way through needing a little extra love, so I take her out and try to calm her down without spoiling her too much, but when this doesn’t work, I rock her back to sleep. She usually settles right down with a big wide open mouth smile, and as she is drifting back into dream land, she laughs out loud and wakes herself up again. This process repeats itself several times, probably cuz I’m too in love to put her down. It is just so cute. I know you are all thinking babies don’t laugh…and maybe most babies don’t, but mine does—even if it is just in her sleep. I suppose she’s probably laughing at me, thinking “Gee, my mom’s such a sucker for this cuddling thing.” And I am too, when she’s awake she prefers not to be held so I have to take what I can get.
She’s always been a very alert baby, but never much cared for anything like a bouncy seat or swing. Her favorite activities include talking to walls, staring at windows and lights, and watching her bears (her mobile) in her playpen. She has recently taken an interest in being read to, and listening to BYU radio in her sleep. The poor kid has had to learn to sleep in the middle of everything since she is confined to a 5 ft radius all the time, so I leave the TV on so that every little noise doesn’t startle her. She’s getting to be pretty good at sleeping through most everything though, and is finally starting to go to sleep on her own without fighting it so much.
She is growing and changing with every day and is anxious to meet you all. I was going to post some pics but it’s getting late so I’ll try and do that tomorrow!

Can you tag your own blog?

For the record, , I don't think the rules allow you to tag your own blog, but here it goes anyway:

1. I was once a hunter and have killed 2 deer
2. My social life as of late consists of going to the grocery store, and i actually look forward to it (seriously, where else can I go and see everyone I know in one visit?)
3. I hate mice, spiders, surprise parties, doctors, being the center of attention and making decisions
4. I take more pictures than I will ever know what to do with and pretend to be an avid scrapbooker (truth be known i'm more of a wanna be)
5. I'm seventeen days from turning 24
6. I recently learned that all those things I've sworn never to do as a parent are already happening... Breah has a binky!
7. I'm addicted to anything containing chocolate or ice cream, and surprisingly it has no (aparent or immediate, i'm probably not doing her any favors though) adverse affects on the baby like everyone said it would! She's a perfect angel all the time, i think she maybe even like it as much as i do.

Oh i almost forgot, i'm tagging Chelsie

I've been Tagged

I would like to thank Ricks for tagging us, and giving us the chance to make our lists of 7 random facts/things. Here are the official rules as laid out by the Commissioner of the Tagging League.
Rules: Write 7 facts about yourself...silly, serious, random - you decide. List who tagged you and then who you will tag at the bottom. Leave a comment on their blogs and let them know you tagged them.

Although she tagged both of us, I, Brandon will be doing my own list while Shaylah thinks of hers.
1. There is nothing better than a calm baby during a good BYU game. I recently found out how great this is during the last BYU game when Shaylah wasn't home. Breah was a doll; this must mean she is a Cougar fan too.
2. I like the smell of Mushroom Compost.
3. I became a Jazz fan after Hot Rod stopped announcing the games on KJAZZ.
4. Lou Gehrig is one of the finest Americans to ever live.
5. I have seen every Seinfield, Save by the Bell, The Office, Everybody Loves Raymond (well the ones shown on syndication) and sadly Friends ever produced.
6. I made Shaylah cry the night that I proposed to her, smooth I know.
7. My first son is going to be named Seven.

I tag Paul and Shaylah, that’s Paul Sampson not Kid Rock.

More Baths

Here is a video of Breah's bath. As you can see, she doesn't like it very much.

Darn Hiccups

Breah, like most babies, is often afflicted with hiccups. To her credit, she is very patient and never cries when she has them. She has even been known to fall asleep with the hiccups. She is so cute when she has them though we had to take a quick video, so enjoy.

Update: Here is a quick update on how she is doing. Breah is doing much better now. When she first got home from the hospital her oxygen levels started to go down. After even more Dr visits, they decided her pneumonia may have started to come back. After a week on medication she is doing much better. She is down to 1/16 liter of oxygen, and doing really well on that. She is doing so well, we were able to get some pictures last night without her oxygen. We are hoping to be completely off oxygen in a week or so. Thank you all for your continued prayers for all of us.

Viva Brasil!!

Here are some pictures of Breah wearing her outfit straight from Brasil. She wants to thank her Grandma and Grandpa for sending her such a cute outfit, and tell them she loves them very much. She also would like to thank her Great Grandma Dansie and Aunt Sandra for bringing it all the way to Fillmore. Don't be confused though, she is still learning Spanish from her Daddy. There needs to be another one in the family that speaks the divine language.

First Bath

Here are some pictures from Breah's first bath. Obviously this is the first bath when she got home, and these pictures are a little old. We did bath her before her three week birthday. Once again, she didn't enjoy this much, but at least she won't be the stinky kind at school.

Muy Caliente!!!

Here are some pictures from Breah's first Halloween. She was a Chili Pepper if you can't tell. We waited until the night time to put her in the costume and it was a good thing because she hated it. As you can see she screamed the whole time. What she doesn't know is this is just the first time we will torture her for a cute picture. We think it was a little too hot for her. It was a fun Halloween anyways and one she will never forget.
