geesh Ali is a nice little girl - super shy but so willing to take a little one under her arm ... she is wrestling and snuggling with Louie ..
Louie has yet to hiss at us and he no longer freezes in place but he is not purring nor does he seek attention yet ...
they are awfully cute shy babies tho!

seven less responsibilities ... and I'm sad ...
It's always a little bittersweet this fostering business.

Some days ...
Are good days ... today I was busy at work in the am and busy with animals in the late afternoon/evening. Pulled 4 mice, a hamster, 3 kittens in one group, 2 kittens in another group and a lovely adult Siamese from the shelter this week. The hamster and mice are in homes. Seems quite sure the Siamese (and Delilah) as well as at least 3 of the kittens will be in homes by the end of tomorrow. An amazing day's work. (Add a Spaniel puppy leaving Monday, and a long haired chihuahua leaving tomorrow (cross your fingers) and it's been an incredible week already. I would be hard pressed to tell you the last time Project Jessie had more than 10 adoptions in one week let alone the last time I facilitated many of them. (Though I suspect it would be the All About Pets Show in March of 2007 or 2008)
This is our newest Simple Soul. A flame point Balinese he is about 3 months old and just as cute as can be. He is impaired but it's a pretty mild impairment so I'm hoping he will grow into himself and be able to find a home. He is very friendly.
Another freebie shot of a gorgeous kitten. On a sad note we pulled a LOVELY sweet Persian from a high kill shelter today. She was riddled with cancer and sores and had to be PTS this afternoon. Poor lady. I'm so glad her last hours were spent in a loving home having her mats groomed and getting scratches and love. My heart aches for Shelly and the cat having to go through that.
He has a sibling. She is healthy, happy and full of joy. I suspect she'll have a home by tomorrow.

Coma Kitten
2 weeks ago - or maybe 3 now the amazing Dr Au had a little kitten dropped off . He was pretty tiny and very flat. He had suffered a brain injury and been put outside in a box (presumably to die). A neighbourhood cat found him and picked him up and brought him home. The people quickly realized they couldn't cope with a kitten in a coma. Dr Au is carefully nursing him back to health. He had a couple of days of scary seizures and is now blind but his disabilities aren't stopping him at all. He needs a good name - I have been calling him Coma Kitten, others call him Dopey, Danny or just plain old Mr Kitten. I'll have to get Tom thinking about it. Please feel free to suggest away as well :)

(here Coma Kitty is mauling Thea in the hopes of getting a game going!)

For Love of Cats
went down to animal house calls last night to talk about our new writing project and show off two very very cute kittens
new set distracted me a bit but all in all I think it went well
I will say nothing could ever have made me comfortable in the spotlight except for advocating for animals. It helped that I had a nice steady start - first working behind the wings on shows like the Pet Project and Zooboomafoo then little panel gigs like the cat vs dog debate on Studio Two, then bits of news shows then finally Breakfast TV and Housecalls...now I really don't feel nervous at all - even when the show isn't as smooth as I want..
the kittens were pretty much perfect!
