Out of Hibernation

June already? It is finally starting to warm up here. Monday Jason had off of work so we braved the rain and went searching for waterfalls. Oh you didn't know that Ben had a major obsession with waterfalls? He LOVES them.

I was navigating so we got lost a few times and drove past the waterfall without noticing it once. (Jason did say that it was still safer for me to navigate than to drive)

We are experiencing some pretty bad flooding so the Snake river was especially high.

Of course we couldn't leave until the boys studied some of the local wildlife, in this case a snail. Ben was pretty bummed that we couldn't take it home with us.

Through the eyes of a three year old

Here are some pictures Ben took with his new camera.

It is nice to know that the burden to taking pictures of Spencer is off of my back, Spencer is ben's favorite subject. No need to include mom's head though. He even let me take a picture of him after I promised I would give him his camera right back.

Indian Summer

The look of terror in Spencer's eyes is because Ben had just informed him they were sitting on a moose's bed.

The snow has started to fly here but before it did we had the most beautiful fall. The first Saturday in November was unbelievably warm. Since we knew that winter would come soon enough we packed the boys up and did our favorite hike one last time. We managed to also get a picture of all four of us which hasn't happened yet. Ben was pretty bummed that he didn't see a bear. He kind of had his heart set on it.

This is what happens when mom is busy cooking dinner, poor Spencer really is a sitting duck.

Brothers

Before Spencer arrived I pretty much thought of every worse case scenario when it came to Ben and this baby. Lots of people of more than one child, I know I am not the only one that has a 21/2 year old and an infant so babies must be resilient right? Ben isn't exactly gentle with the cat though so I was worried. But Ben has surprised me, he is a terrific big brother. If Spencer makes even the tiniest noise Ben has to go check to make sure he is okay. He always makes sure Spencer has his binky. But most of all he loves to cuddle up next to Spencer on the floor. Someday I am sure Spencer will drive him crazy and Ben will probably tie him to a tree but today Ben told me Spencer was his best friend.

Spencer

Even though other family members have posted pictures of the new baby I figured it was part of our parental duty to contribute too. Here are some pictures of Spencer in his first week of life. So far Ben has been adjusting pretty well although at times he requests that Spencer be "put away". Spencer is proving to be a pretty easy baby so far which probably means that a year from now I will have another wild toddler.

Out the door

Someday my son will probably hate me for posting this picture of him. This morning though he thought he was pretty funny. Most of our days aren't bad they actually involve lots of hilarious moments like this one. Thats right he is wearing my high heels, holding a basket of Easter eggs, that bag well he calls that his purse and lest you think he is not manly that is holding his hammer, screw driver and drill. Luckily I caught him before he headed out the door to get his wheelbarrow.
