Friday Fun

Last Friday we actually had a warm day for a change so Woody and I decided to take advantage. I thought I'd share a few funny pics with you of my fur-baby and his favorite past time!
(my apologies for the bad quality, they were taken on my phone)

Party like its 2009!

New Years Eve day, once Lauren got off work, I went shopping for party supplies for our New Years Eve party we were having that night at the Cameron casa. We grabbed what we needed, went back to her house and prepared some munchies for the party then it was time to get ready! It was a great night with plenty of old and new friends! I am so glad that that many people wanted to bring in their new year with us! Happy New Year to all of you who I didn't get to see that night!

New Years day was spent watching a very disappointing bowl game. Clemson vs Nebraska, we lost 26-21. It was a good match up but they had a better second half.
Friday Mom, Jess and I went to Lupis for some calzones and bruschetta for lunch then I headed to Mel's to meet up with her and John to make our reunion facebook and myspace pages. That was of course entertaining trying to figure out what to do and playing on the internet for a few hours while watching football. John and I later met up with our friend Kevin to watch the night bowl games at the Roof Bar downtown. This bar is on top of a restaurant and is closed in with a porch but can be fully open in the warmer months. Its a really fun atmosphere if you haven't been!
Saturday night Chris, the Cranes and myself met up for a little dinner and game night. We ate at this restaurant in downtown Chattanooga called Genghis Grill. If you haven't been, its below the Vaudeville Cafe across from TGIFridays. Its a really cool place. You go in and there's a buffet. They give you this little silver bowl and tell you to pack in as many raw ingredients as you can, season it, put some sauce in a cup then hand it to the chef. So we gathered our ingredients and left it up to the chef to grill our concoctions. It was so cool! And I think we all enjoyed our meals.
Here's miss Em at the restaurant!
After dinner we went back to the Crane residence for some Phase 10. Phase 10 is this really neat card game that you can play with as many people as you want. It's challenging and competitive and it's all about strategy. You can find it in your local Target with the decks of cards for about $6 I believe. Give it a shot! Just make sure you have plenty of time to play because it is time consuming.
Sunday I sadly packed up my many bags of belongings and hit the road for my 5 hour trip back to Charlotte. It was an un-eventful ride which was just fine! I had a blast in Chattanooga and already miss all of my friends as always!

Attention OHS Class of 2000 Alumni

While I was in Chatt, a few of my fellow alumni and I got together with the class president to start planning our 10 year reunion! Can you believe its only a year away?! We met, had a brain-storming session and toured a few venues. I can't wait to plan this event! So one of the first steps is getting in touch with our graduating class. We began the process by creating a facebook group and a myspace account. If you are on one or both of these websites, hopefully you were invited to join these groups. If you were not invited, let me know so I can get you set-up! If you aren't on either of these but would like to join to check out the groups, you can go to www.facebook.com and www.myspace.com to set-up profiles. Its a great way to keep in touch if you aren't already on the face or the space and we've actually had great response to our groups so far! Here's the link to our myspace site: www.myspace.com/ohs2000alumni, I think you can view it without joining. You have to be a member to join the facebook group. Please check them out and join if you are Ooltewah class of 2000. And let me know if you'd like to be a part of the planning process. We've got a committee started but can use all the help we can get.

Home for the holidays

On Christmas day Mom, Jessica and I went to see Marley & Me. It was a really funny movie that I enjoyed a lot. Warning: make sure you have tissues with you if you go to see it! Luckily I had been carrying around some in my purse because I hadn't been feeling well.

Friday night I got together with some of my best friends at the Crane residence for some spaghetti and Wii. I brought my Wii and Wii fit with me for a little twist on our normal game night. For those of you who don't know what a Wii Fit is, it's a balance board for the Wii that comes with hilarious games to get you in shape and help work on your balance and posture. Watching everyone hula hoop and try to walk across the zip line and head soccer balls was hilarious! After playing with the fit for a while we decided to get Wii sports out and played some pretty intense games of Wii bowling. It was a blast!

Saturday we had our first planning committee brainstorming session for the OHS class of 2000 reunion. We toured a few venues and had lunch at sticky fingers. It was a productive meeting I think but we have a lot to do, thank goodness we have a year! Saturday night I met up with some of my Ooltewah buddies and went to our friend Wade's house to watch the UFC fight. For some reason, I enjoy watching those fights!
The next few days were spent shopping and running errands during the day and then either watching a movie or playing Wii bowling with the fam at night. They went by way too quickly of course!
Tuesday night I met up with a few more Ooltewah buddies at the Fox and hound to play some pool and beat the boys at Silver Strike! :)

It was a very relaxing vacation. I'm so glad I got to see so many of my friends while I was in Chattanooga. Next post.. New Years Eve!

Festival of Lights

For those of you who don't know, I'm Jewish. I know that seems like an interesting announcement after my Christmas with the family post but we get it from my father. We still celebrate Christmas with my mom's side of the family but Hanukkah with my immediate family. After Christmas in Seneca, I headed back to Charlotte for two days of work then headed to Chattanooga on Christmas Eve. Upon arrival, mom had dinner ready for us so we ate as a family and then it was time to light the menorah and open presents! We light candles for 8 nights but now open all the presents on only one night due to schedule conflicts and me usually not even in town in time. We had a wonderful time opening presents and ended the night watching a movie! Good times!

Christmas in Seneca

Ok I know I am really far behind on posting and I really don't have a good excuse as I was off for a week and a half from work, but I'm catching back up today so be prepared for several posts!

The weekend before Christmas my mom's side of the family met in Seneca, SC (near Clemson in upstate SC for those who aren't familiar with the area) for our annual family Christmas get together. Friday I got off work a little early because I had to take Woody to the vet. He didn't need shots or anything and actually I just needed to buy some more heart worm pills for him, but the vet insisted on checking him out because they haven't seen him since he was a puppy. Yep - same vet we went to when we lived here before! So I brought him in. Normally he is pretty excited about going for a car ride but not this time. I don't know if he knew he was going to the vet (doubt it) but he was just whining and whimpering and acting really nervous the whole 10 min car ride to the vet. So we get there, go back into the room and he's ok. The vet assistant takes him out of our room to the back to weigh him. He went willingly but I think he thought I was behind him. Not long after he went back I heard a lot of commotion and just hoped that wasn't my dog! About 15 min later they brought him back in my room and the vet explained that she thinks my dog had an anxiety attack while in the back. Seriously?! A dog having an anxiety attack. Ok, so I am gathering from her concern that he freaked out a little and didn't want to cooperate. Not something I've ever heard from a vet or a kennel when leaving him. Our vet in Birmingham was upset to hear I had taken him away from them when I called for his records. Anyway, so after a really serious, stressful talk with the vet who wanted me to tell her why my dog had an anxiety attack, we left the vet. I have no clue what happened and thought he was acting a little funny on the way there, guess he was just having a bad day. So with a much happier dog now that he was back with his mommy, we went back home, grabbed our belongings for a weekend trip and headed to Greenville, SC to stay with our cousins Jeffrey and his wife Rory. My Aunt Connie, Uncle Tef and cousin Jason met us at a restaurant to watch the 1-AA championship football game that was going on in Chatt-town then we headed home for some rest. Saturday was a rainy day so the cousins, Woody and I just laid around until it was time to head to Seneca for the family Christmas gathering. As always, our Christmas dinner and present swap was a lot of fun and it was great to see all of my relatives, minus cousin Morgan who had to work the next day. We missed you kiddo!

This Christmas celebration normally ends after the gift exchange and we all go our separate ways. The adults still did that but the kids stayed together this year. Our cousin Jason turned 21 the next day so we all went back to Greenville to Jeff's apt and celebrated! We hung out at Jeff's with the cousins and a few of Jason's friends from college and then all went downtown at midnight and met up with some of my guy friends from Columbia. It was such a fun night! I'm so glad we were all able to stay and celebrate with Jason! We took a ton of pics, even a few videos of the boys dancing ;), but I'll only post a few... Enjoy!
