The Grow Boxes

Well, Curtis got the Grow Boxes finished with dirt, manure, and seeds planted! Before the soil and organic matter went in, we had to decide the configuration of the boxes. Lydia said, "I think a yellow X would be nice." She still wants her daddy to paint them!!!

Maren's First Taste

Tonight, Maren had her first taste of Rice Cereal. She liked it! There will be more to come....

How do you like them?

Lydia and Curtis were outside building Grow Boxes for our garden this year. They got finished and Curtis stood back to look at them and asked Lydia what she thought. She stepped back and looked and said, "I think they're ugly. You need to paint them!"
What do you think???

When I asked Lydia what she built out there, she said after a lot of thought, "I don't know. Wood?"

Should We Curl Daddy's Hair?

We were getting Lydia ready in her new Easter dress and curling her hair and I asked her if we should curl daddy's hair. She replied, "He doesn't have hair." After dad heard us from the other room and said, "Hey! I have hair!" She said, "Just a little bit."

HAPPY EASTER!!

A Few Pictures...

I don't want Maren left out of all of this, so I have to share a few pictures. She was doing a funny thing with her lip on Sunday and I was able to capture it!!
No one can make Maren chuckle as much as Lydia!! They love being sisters!!

Kisses and Snort

Tonight when Curtis got home from work, Lydia was eager to play with him. We ate our dinner and Lydia started climbing on Curtis' chair to kiss him. Then, she told him to get down. He got kneeling down on the floor as she instructed and then she said, "Let's be kisses!" He stuck out his cheek for her to kiss and she said, "No!" She turned his head and started kissing him smack on the lips!! Where did she learn that one!!?!?!?!?

Later, they were playing around and Lydia told him, "You are a biggest SNORT ever." (We have been reading, "Are you my Muder (mother)?" She called him a horse, cow, pig, and Snort tonight.

Side note, Lydia drew her first "L" tonight. It was backwards and for Leo instead of Lydia, but hey, she did it!!

I Like Tea!

Funny Lydia looked at her wrist today and said, "Uh-Oh! Look at the time! I better get started!"

During Sacrament Meeting, I went to the stand to sing with the Young Men/Young Women Choir. While I was gone, Curtis said that Lydia stood up on the pew and loudly said, "I like tea!" Curtis said, "Lydia, we don't drink tea. It isn't good for us." Lydia replied, "No! I like sitting, and singing, and drinking tea! I love tea!!" Curtis is worried that the whole ward now thinks we break the word of wisdom!

Madeline

Today the Madeline Costume arrived and Lydia wanted to put it on immediately!! She loves to be Madeline and she can tell you:

"In an old house in Paris that was covered in vines
lived twelve little girls in two straight lines.
In two straight lines they broke their bread
and brushed their teeth and went to bed.
They smiled at the good and frowned at the bad
and sometimes they were very sad.
They left the house at half past nine in two straight lines
in rain or shine-- the smallest one was Madeline.
She was not afraid of mice-
she loved winter, snow, and ice.
To the tiger in the zoo Madeline just said, "Pooh-pooh,"
and nobody knew so well how to frighten Miss Clavel.
In the middle of the night Miss Clavel turned on her light
and said, "Something is not right!"
......And all the girls cried, "Boohoo,
we want to have our appendix out, too!"
...."

They are going to love it!

We were curling Lydia's hair this morning and she said, "They are going to love it(talking about her hair)!" I said, "Who?" She replied, "Your visiting teachers!" (Mind you-- I haven't seen visiting teachers since Maren was born and she is going on 5 months.)

She is playing me music now on two combs. She said there is the songs about Jesus and .com and the Mommy Song. Then, she bows....

I've got a Smile!

I went outside to throw a dirty diaper away and when I returned Lydia said, "I've got a smile!" I said, "You do?" She said, "Yes, right here." In her Vanna White arm actions, she directed me to Maren who was smiling.

Ready for the day...

Lydia: "I brushed my teeth and shaved, but I need a toothbrush to get the bug out of my mouth. He is kinda stuck."

(We talk about getting the sugar bugs off her teeth so they don't eat them!)

Church and Kravers

Lydia heard Curtis come home from his early morning bishopric meetings, and she said to me, " I am gonna ask him, 'So how was Church?'" Curtis walked in and Lydia said, "Hi, Dad! How was church?"

For those who don't know, Kraver's is our local hamburger joint and they just moved into a new building on Village Blvd. by our house, so on Saturday night we went to eat there to celebrate their move. After we were done with dinner and going back out to the car, Lydia was dancing all around the sidewalk and singing things like, "I love Kraver's! Yes I do! Kraver's is the best!"

That's You!!

Lydia and Curtis were looking at gospel pictures from the Joseph Smith Manual in Sacrament Meeting. They saw a picture of the resurrected Christ appearing to Mary by the tomb and Jesus with the Children. In the picture of Jesus with the Children, she pointed at a girl and said, "that's mom. " And pointing to the goat she said, "Dad, that dog is you!" Curtis replied, "that is not a dog. It is a goat." Lydia said, "Oh, yeah you look like a goat!"

After Church we were sitting around reading Church Magazines and Lydia saw a different rendition of Christ appearing to Mary. Lydia saw it and said, "There are Jesus and Mary again."

Ask Nicely

Today Lydia was making Curtis make forts for her out of couch cushions. As you can imagine, the forts aren't too sturdy. So, Lydia promptly would knock them down as soon as he would build one. Finally he told Lydia that he wouldn't make any more. She asked him to again, saying please. He said he wasn't going to make one. She said, "I am asking nicely." Then she said, "Okay Dad, you ask me to make a fort for you!" So he said, "Lydia, will you make a fort for me?" She replied, "Dad, ask nicely."

Mommy's Girl

It was our RS Birthday Dinner tonight. I got ready and fed Maren right before I left. I went to enjoy an hour with adults without my children. Well, I had eaten my roll and some salad when the cell phone rang. I heard a screaming baby. Curtis said he thought she was hungry, but he would try for a little longer. I had just finished my lasagna and got call number 2. So, I came home hungry to a screaming baby. I tried to feed her, she wasn't hungry. She calmed down for mommy. I guess we have a Mama's Girl on our hands!

Cleaning Day and Dominoes

So far today, it has been cleaning day! Lydia was angry and threw a glass cup in the sink. It shattered. So, I cleaned it up. Shortly after we were doing laundry and I left for a moment. I came back and Lydia said, "I splashed all over!" She had sprayed Spray 'N Wash all over the walls, floors, dryer, and washer! So, we had to clean that up too.

On a different note, Lydia wanted to play dominoes. I told her we didn't have dominoes. "Who has dominoes?" I asked. She replied, "Grandma doos."

Daddy Dog

Lydia can get her Daddy to do anything!! Tonight she told him that he was a horse, dog, and llama. He did a good job being all three. The best was when the doggie needed a bath! He climbed into the imaginary tub and had all fours up while she scrubbed him!!! What a good daddy! (BTW, he didn't enjoy eating carrots as a horse. I think the llama treats were tolerable.)

Trains and Music

Well, trains are still popular today. Maren and I had to stay in our seats with seat belts fastened on the "H-T-W-X-Y-Z Train". Then, Lydia informed me that we needed some loud music for our train ride! Lydia would get off and put her Kennecott Construction Hat on and would go do some "c-struction" work. It consisted of a play wooden spoon pounding the walls and couch. All the meantime, Maren and I were required to stay in our seats!

Baby

This is the conversation that Lydia and I just had:

L: "I love having a white baby (talking about Maren)."
K: "I am glad you do!"
L: "I need another baby now!"
K: "How will we get another baby?"
L: "We need one to find my address."

Toast and Trains

Today Lydia woke with trains on her brain!! Her Grandma was tending her all day, so she got to go on mant train and plane rides. I guess Lydia would get off the train and go run "rerands" and jump back on! When Grandma made some toast this morning asked Lydia if she would like "some of her toast". She just looked at her a second and said, "it's OUR toast."

Lucky Grandma Porter- she got to travel ALL DAY LONG!! Thanks, Grandma! We love you!!

Chocolate

Today Lydia informed me, "We eat chocolate everyday. Lots and lots of it!" She is a chocolate girl!!!

Pink Dresses

WARNING: this may disturb you.

We turned on the Osmond's 50th Anniversary Get-together on for a moment last night. Lydia enjoyed the music. She walked up to her daddy with both hands and rubbed his crotch and said, "Now we both wearing pink dresses. Let's dance!"

As for today, we went to visit the cousins tonight and Lydia and Spencer got along quite well. At dinner, they were sitting at a kid-size table and neither felt the table was close enough to themselves, so they kept pulling the table back and forth to get closer to it. Finally we just pushed their chairs both in closer to the table so there was no need for the pushing and pulling. Lydia had a tendency to spook Carson out by showing up and squealing at him when he wasn't expecting it. Lydia and Spencer also got their marching in as they "marched, marched, marched " down the stairs. I wish I had a video camera!

Sleep Dreams

Maren was falling asleep in my arms tonight and Lydia said, "Sleep Dreams!"

Earlier she told her dad, "it is pbskids.com." The scary thing is that she knows about .com. It really is pbskids.org! Crazy Techno-Girl!!!

Mopping Day

Today was mopping day. Lydia was playing with steak sauce at the dinner table and dropped it on the floor, the bottle broke and steak sauce went everywhere! After we got that mopped up,Lydia was drinking some cold water from a water botttle and then spilled water all over the floor. After pulling down the whole window treatment offthe window, it was time to contain the little girl! So, I gave her a bath. I got Maren out first and was drying her. I closed the shower curtain so Lydia can splash and soon she said, "I getting water all over!" When I looked she was throwing cups of water out onto the bathroom floor and yes indeed there was water everywhere! Needless to say someone was right out of the tub and wiping up the bathroom in 2 seconds flat! So, I guess today was mopping day!!

Must be Growing!

Lydia must be growing! Last night at Grandma's she ate noodles, pizza, and then Grandma came home and she ate Grandma's tossed salad! She doesn't stop eating!! This morning, she ate a bowl of Frosted Mini Wheats. Soon after she came up to me and said, "Mom, I need pancakes right now!" So, we made pancakes. She ate a whole pancake.
