Its the Water!

We're not sure what we drank that morning, but we were sure glad it was temporary--especially for Brenna's sake--her scrunched up eyes and nose sure were cute but I imagine it could cause a headache after a while.

Amber and I got a good laugh anyway!!

And Off She Goes

After fretting and worrying and getting a bit worked up. . .both Kaylee and I survived the first day of kindergarten. Now, it's not that she wasn't excited and it wasn't that I am not ready for her to go, but there was some definite anticipation of the actual first day of school. Kaylee had a bit of a history when it came time to leave mom to go to school. Preschool was pretty much a disaster in that respect. Every day she would cling and cry. Her teacher would peel her off of me and I would have to run out and leave her crying in the corner. They said that after about 20 minutes she was ok, but it got to the point where she wouldn't even get out of the car and I just really didn't want to fight her every week--so we quit going, hoping that next year would be different. So we show up for back to school night and try to meet Kaylee's teacher. She very effectively hides behind my legs and doesn't even manage a wave. The next week is assessments. A one-on-one meeting with the teacher. She covers her face and can barely get her name out. But with some coaxing she is able to get through the assessment. So you can imagine my trepidation for the first day drop-off. I was afraid that I could end up spending the whole first day with Kaylee wrapped around my legs. She was excited that morning--watching the clock and giving me reports on how close it was to being time to go. She was a bit nervous but was giving me good vibes about staying alone.

We arrived at the school and I had to step into the office and check on a bus schedule, so I asked Kaylee to walk on down to her classroom and when I finished I would check on her. Off she walked!! Waving back at me as she turned the corner--YEA! I was very pleasantly surprised. She really is growing up! We did check on her and she was doing great--no tears shed (either of us!). I'm so proud of her.

Kaylee is loving school so far--a whole two days in! She rides the bus and keeps telling me not to come get her at the bus stop--I probably won't take her up on that one anytime soon.

The only downfall is Parker is a little bit lost with out his playmate. He doesn't start preschool for a while and I'm trying to pull myself out of boring mom phase. It has been so easy with the two of them to entertain each other and I have really taken that for granted. Oh well. . . we all have some adjustments to make!

YEA KAYLEE--WE LOVE YOU!

Boating

Some friends took us to see Utah Lake up close and personal. We had a great time. Even considering the many tummy's full of lake water we transported home. We have found that Utah Lake Water isn't too caustic to our systems. We all survived--the water and tender and sore muscles the next week brought.

Parker liked the tube--as long as we didn't hit any bumps. He kept telling us slower, slower--even when we were barely moving. "NO Bumps" he would yell.

Kneeboarding was a fun. It has been a long time since I have done it. It brought back many memories of boating with Grandpa Harward. Learning to kneeboard and ski at Yuba and Lake Powell. The patience of Grandpa and Uncle Paul as they had to continually circle the boat in our repeated efforts to get up. Or standing in knee deep water holding us in position as the boat took off from the shore--I'm sure there was some "no wake" rule breaking in that process. Oh and many more.
I worked up the guts to attempt a 360 and was successful! It was exciting to do something new.

Kaylee and Gabriella (a friend from our ward) on the tube. Kaylee had a blast. Wanting her turn over and over and over, and offering to ride with anyone. She didn't mind the "Bumps" and had a few great rides!

Style 101

These socks came from Dan's Grandpa Smyth. He was always on the lookout for cheap socks at Target. Parker and Kaylee had fun with the oversized socks when Grandma Smyth brought them for everyone to share. The tinker toy in hand is Parker's version of a sword or gun--which ever he prefers that day.

Sometimes

Kids are so wierd

Update: this was originally supposed to be the post with Parker and the cool socks, but I got interrupted during posting and accidently posted just the title and one sentence. I finally got around to posting the pictures later but didn't realize that this was already posted until I got comments on it. For all of you who think (or know) know that I am crazy--this is proof.

Wheee!!

Happy Birthday to Coy!

Thanks for letting us celebrate your birthday with you. We loved the slides at Jumping Jacks. We didn't even break any bones--(although Parker tried, and we didn't let your dad get on those things--that. . .could be dangerous!)
