478 – She Always Wanted a Honda

Yep. We bought my wife a new car Tuesday, a 2012 Honda Civic EX.IMG_2732

She’s always wanted a Honda, and she likes smaller cars, so alas, here it is!

I have to say, it’s a lot nicer than the 2011’s, as it has a few exterior changes, and a big change in how the dash looks.

Here’s a look at the interior which is gray/tan in color.IMG_2734

So far, she loves it, and is having fun with the Bluetooth feature of the car so she can hands-free talk on the phone while driving!

What’s everyone got planned for the holiday weekend?

We’re doing some work around the house, I’m hoping to get the Vette out, and we have some friends we met on the cruise stopping by on Monday!

Can’t stay, but I hope you all have a great weekend if I can’t get here tomorrow.

477 – I’m Going to Build an Ark!

Well, it’s rained every day since we got back from vacation. Saturday was the best day, with rain very early morning, and late evening but so little sunshine it’s weird.

Friday night, I had a wonderful dinner with friends. Saturday, we spent about 5 hours car shopping for my wife and she finally found one she likes. A 2012 Honda Civic EX. Thank goodness, as she’s VERY hard to please when it comes to cars. We pick it up on Tuesday.

As for vacation photos, IMG_2603 the one at right is Labadee, Haiti, a beach day. Royal Caribbean owns a huge part of land there and converted it into a beach paradise, complete with 5 beaches, outdoor cooking areas where the ship’s crew cooks all kinds of great food right there for you.

There’s also a roller coaster ride and a real long zip-line over the water called the Dragons Breath.

There’s also an area where IMG_2607 locals sell their
wares (see picture to right, click any one of them to ‘embiggen’). From wood carvings, to T-Shirts, walking sticks to masks, they have it and all hand made.

All in all, it was a wonderful trip, and many people who we met on this cruise are going again on one next May. Not sure if we’ll go along, we’ll have to see what happens.

Have a wonderful week all!

476 – Finally Friday

It seems like this week dragged by because of the awful, rainy weather. Well, Friday is finally here and I’m going out to dinner with my brother and 2 other friends tonight which should be a lot of fun.

Here’s some more pictures from the cruise:IMG_2653

This is my favorite photo (click on any photo to ‘embiggen’). It shows the boardwalk area back to the water show area, and off the back of the ship. There are balcony cabins lining the right and left. If you ‘embiggen’, you’ll even see a man zip-lining across the opening at the top just over the R in Allure.

At left, is a water show put on with the characters from the movie Madascar! It was a lot of fun, and nice to relax in the shade and watch.

More at another time, but I think you can see the weather was outstanding, and the ship was outstanding!

Have a wonderful weekend!

475 – Rain, Rain and more Rain

That’s our weather for this week. I go away and there was perfect weather here and on vacation, I come back, and 7 day forecast of rain. It’s pretty dreary out.

Vacation was outstanding. Perfect weather, a ship that was so large and had so much toIMG_2608 do, we were never bored.

At right is a picture of our ship docked in Labadee, a beach day. To get an idea of it’s size, it’s 3 football fields long, plus a bit.

The rooms were gorgeous with big, flat-screen TV’s, the restaurants were fantastic, and the shows absolutely breathtaking. There were water shows, ice shows, a comedy club and 2 Broadway shows in the large theater that were just fantastic.

There was a Central Park area, a Coney Island looking Boardwalk area, the Royal Promenade, zip lines, and two FlowRiders (shown at left).

You can body-boogie, stand on them or even ride the wave with a boogie-board. Kids and adults loved them!

Well, more on Friday, got to run… have a wonderful Hump-Day (and don’t forget to click on any picture to ‘embiggen’)

474 – In 3 Letters – OMG!

Because of the lack of time, only a photo today of the Rising Tide Bar which floats between deck 5 and deck 8 (I’ve taken the ride a few times!) *S*

473 – And Away We Go!

I’m pretty excited about exploring this enormous ship that we’re going on with 26 restaurants and over 40 bars on it! I can’t wait to see the Broadway show, “Chicago”, the comedy club, and all the other great places on board.

I’ll post again when I get back, but until then, keep safe everyone and smile!

Now for something funny:

Mr. Cikoch was a biology instructor at a snobby suburban girl's junior college. During class one day he asked his student, "Miss Simison, would you please name the organ of the human body, which under the appropriate conditions, expands to six times its normal size, and define
the conditions."
Miss Simison gasped, and then said, "Mr. Cikoch, I don't think that is a proper question to ask me. I assure you my parents will hear of this.
"With that she sat down red-faced. Mr. Cikoch then called on Miss Hakar and asked the same question. Miss Hakar, with composure, replied, "The pupil of the eye, in dim light."
"Correct," said Mr. Cikoch. "And now, Miss Simison, I have three things to say to you. One, you have not studied your lesson. Two, you have
a dirty mind. And three, you will some day be faced with a dreadful disappointment."

Have a great weekend and week all!

472 – Almost There….

Just 3 more days of work before vacation. If you’re sick of hearing it, I’m sorry, but I get as much enjoyment waiting as the actual vacation! *chuckling*

It’s funny, for most things, I’m very impatient. For vacations, or waiting for Spring to take my Vette out, I’m patient. Go figure.

My daughter now has my iPad1, and is having a ball with it. She was over last night for dinner and we did a bit of shopping together (got a couple pairs of shorts for vacation).

Here's a bunch of pics of the ship we're going to be Cruising on!

Oh, and Monday’s joke I should have credited to my friend Mike H.

On to something funny:

Two friends went out to play golf and were about to tee off, when one fellow noticed that his partner had but one golf ball. "Don't you have at least one other golf ball?" he asked. The other guy replied that no, he only needed the one. "Are you sure?" the friend persisted. "What happens if you lose that ball?" The other guy replied, "This is a very special golf ball. I won't lose it so I don't need another one." "Well," the friend asked, "what happens if you miss your shot and the ball goes in the lake?" "That's okay," he replied, "This special golf ball floats. I'll be able to retrieve it." "Well what happens if you hit it into the trees and it gets lost among the bushes and shrubs?" The other guy replied, "That's okay too. You see, this special golf ball has a homing beacon. I'll be able to get it back - no problem."

Exasperated, the friend asks, "Okay. Let's say our game goes late, the sun goes down, and you hit your ball into a sand trap. What are you going to do then?" "No problem." says the other guy, "You see, this ball is florescent. I'll be able to see it in the dark." Finally satisfied that he needs only the one golf ball, the friend asks, "Hey, where did you get a golf ball like that anyway?" The other guy replies, "I found it."

Have a great Hump- Day!

471 – 5 Days till Vacation!

It seems Osama bin Laden has been killed by US Navy Seals. It’s taken a long time, but today, we have a bit more closure, over the events of 9/11.

Five more days till vacation. I’m sure it’ll go by slowly, as I’m sure the vacation will go by too quickly! I guess I should start looking for my suitcase huh? *L*

Did I mention I bought an iPad2? I’m going to give/sell my old one to my daughter. The coolest new app for the 2 is FaceTime, a program for doing video calling without using the phone lines! I tested it out with my friend Dan who also has an iPad2, and it’s pretty darn cool!

I took the Vette out for the first time Saturday, as our club ran a small show for a senior community home, and it was gorgeous. It was a beautiful day, and you could tell everyone was dying to get their cars out.

On to something funny:

Vaseline.......

A man doing market research for the Vaseline Company knocked at the door and
was greeted by a young woman with three small children running around at her
feet. "I'm doing some research for Vaseline. Have you ever used the
product?"

She said, "Yes. My husband and I use it all the time."

"If you don't mind my asking," he said, "what do you use it for?"

"We use it for sex," she said.

The researcher was a little taken aback. "Usually people lie to me and say
they use it on a child's bicycle chain or to help with a gate hinge. But, in
fact, I know that most people do use it for sex. I admire you for your
honesty. Since you've been so frank so far, can you tell me exactly HOW you
use it for sex?"

The woman said, "I don't mind telling you at all. My husband and I put it on
the doorknob and it keeps the kids out."

What were you thinking ..........???

Have a wonderful Monday all…!
