Deiva Thirumagal

After the much hype created by the trailer I asked my husband to take me to this movie. So one fine weekeday we came early from our office and went for night show. It was worth watching this movie. I went to the movie with no clue about the story and also with out any expectations. The first song where vikram sings about his baby and how he will take care was good. It is amazing to hear Vikram's voice in a different tone. As the story evolved I was totally take deep into the story. Anushka Sharma has made a good choice of picking this charater. Usually in tamil movies the heroine's are just show piece. But she has made a difference in this movie.`Amala Paul has also did justice to her role.

But the kid tara swept all the scores. The way she takes care of her dad and the way she speaks and communicates to him was awesome. It is highly difficult for a small kid to understand what is wrong with his/her dad. But tara has excelled in her character.

This movie changed my relationship with my dad. The minute movie got over I felt like calling my dad and just wanted to hear his voice. It was past midnight so I could not call him. Everybody talked about the father daughter relationship when the movie abhiyum nanum came. When I saw abhiyum nanum movie I didn't feel a thing. But this movie scored well. Especially the final court scene where Vikram and the kid communicates with each other not bothering what is happening around them.

I need not tell anything about Vikram's acting since he has done lot of varying characters. I hope he gets national award for his acting skill.

Till now I didn't have any clue that the story was scripted from the hollywood movie 'I am Sam'. I watched the trailer of I am Sam recently. I was a bit disappointed when I saw the trailer coz Vikram has taken the guestures from Sean Penn. I am yet to watch the movie. Hope not every single frame is remade in Tamil.

First 3D in my life

After all these I have watched a 3D movie. I went for Pirates Of the Caribbean - Stranger Tides. Though the movie was not that impressive I was thrilled coz of the 3D effect. But the 3D effect was also much less since the action was also minimal. I have never had an idea about 3D glass. In our tamil movies they show some glass which is red on one side and blue on the other side. I had the same conception about the 3D glass and that the 3D glass will be like that. I was so embarrassed when I told this to my husband. But anyway this showed my ignorance and I have corrected it now. I felt that the 3D concept is very good for the animation since they are created with perspective and lot of angels. Hopefully I will be watching another 3D movie pretty soon.

French Open 2011

With the bad Australian Open for both Rafa and Roger, they became the highlight of the tournament. For Djocker it was entirely different. He was unstoppable and was continuing his winning streak.

Men's Draw:

This years upset started with Thomas Berdrych exiting in the first round of the tournament. Jurgen Melzer followed suit and exited in the second round of the tournament. All the top players were excelling well and there were no big upsets till the fourth round of the tournament.

All the top players went in to the semi finals. It became a usual thing where murray always meets Rafa in the semis and he will never win a title until rafa, roger and djocker are playing.

The semi finals were very interesting where Djocker and Roger were meeting again in the semi finals. Roger was having a good tournament. HE was having a good touch and feel of the clay ground and he did not lose any set till semis this year in Roland Garros. On the other hand Djocker was in a good form where he was having a winning streak and no one were able to stop him.

In the semis Roger put a full stop for Djocker's winning streak. Roger was impeccable that made me feel that he will win the second french open in his career. Rafa had an easy ticket to finals. He brought down Murray in just three sets. Murray needs to evaluate his strategy to win a slam.

Well after long time Roger and Rafa were meeting in the finals and that too in the French Open finals. Roger did not execute his aggression very well. He gave away the title in four sets. If he had put some more effort then I am sure that Roger would have clinched the title.

This time Rafael Nadal clinched his title and closing on to break Roger's record.

Women's Draw:

With Williams sisters out of the tournament, it was so evident that Caroline or Kim had a nice opportunity to get their slam.

The biggest upset came in the second where the super mom,Kim Clijsters was sent packing to her home. It was a biggest shock since I expected Kim to get her first french open. With Kim out of picture it was clear race for Caroline to get her first slam of her career.

Caroline joined Kim exited the tournament in the third round. With both the top players out light now switched to Maria who was coming up in her career. The sole Australian Representative Samantha also exited in the third round.

In the fourth Round, zvanoreva was sent packing to her home with other top players. This is the worst Roland Garros in women lot since all the Top 4 players exited before the semis being Azarenka to exit in the quarters.

The silent predator this time was Na Li who went into the finals of the Australian Open. She became the first Asian women to get into the finals of the slam. She thrashed Marias dream of clinching the title for the first time here in Paris. On the other hand Schivone entered into her second finals here in Paris.

The finals was not that exciting but it became a history when Li clinched the title and became the first Asian to win a slam.

Well this time we have got a new champion in the womens draw. Will catch you all in the next slam of the year.

Nanum Benchum

Being in bench is kinda good as well as bad and I think me and bench have a great affinity. In two years of experience I have been in bench twice. My bench days are nearing my working percentage. But I have had different experiences in both of my bench periods. In this post I will be sharing those experiences.

Fresher's bench:

Being a fresher and getting out of training any person will expect a break for sometime. I was also having the same thought and it worked very well in my case. I was in bench for more than six months period. Those six months were heaven like thing for me. I enjoyed the period with my friends. I was least bothered about anything. Read lot of books and watched hell a lot of movies. Being in bench as a fresher has advantage like can be least bothered about the timesheets and then the project. Getting into a project is important but being in a break is also an advantage. But this break can extend only to certain time later any person will become an issue. In my case I became a issue. They wanted to push me into a project and finally I went into a project which was chaos from starting to ending. Later it took me around 3 months to switch project.

Expert's Bench:

After being in a project for two long years, I applied for transfer and was in bench for a week. This one week was very different. Being a experience person I came to know the loop holes in policies so I was not reporting. I was taking my calls (so called interviews) from home itself. In this case you can find N number of excuses to avoid reporting. But being an experienced resource anyone cannot be in bench period for a long time (more than 2 weeks). Otherwise you are a risk product. Resource group people will start playing with you, asking to attend more than two interviews a day and also different location. There is another problem in this case is the appraisal and eval.

This is what I learnt from both the experiences, taking break for a short time is good and make sure that you get into a good project which allows you to relax urself and also allows you to have some personal space.

KO - The Movie

After a long time I watched a quality movie in theater. The story line and cast was very apt. From time to time jeeva has been doing different movies and this is one of a kind. Ajmal did his job perfectly. I never thought Ajmal would do the negative character perfectly.

The story also speaks out that getting into politics requires cunning and rather not honesty and truth. Perfectly depicts the political outlines and all the related double games. I also liked the way the reporters job is displayed in the movie.

Every movie has its own pros and cons. The songs 'ennamo yedho' and 'amali thumali' added essence to the script. But there were unwanted songs like 'aga naga' and 'venpaniyae'. Pia Bajpai has done a good justice to her role. Bubbly in her own way. Karthika has done more than wat expected. She even has chances to beat her mom in acting.

All the more K.V.Anand has done a great job bringing politics, journalism, love and friendship in just two and half hours. It is worth watching this movie on screen rather than the mini screen.

Oscars 2011

Another year where I took a day off to see the Annual Academy Awards for one and only reason, A.R.Rahman. Again this year he was nominated in two categories. I thought he would get in any one of the category but failed in both. But I am satisfied with the two awards that he got last year.

The choice of the host was not good. I think James Franco was not the right choice for this year. Anne Hathway was stealing the show and he was not able to cope. Last year Hugh Jackman bedazzled everyone with Anne Hathway. I think he could have done this year also. With the bad hosting the Annual Academy Awards started.

Colin Firth proved that he is the best of the lot in the Best performer as an actor in leading role in the movie King's Speech. The movie was ethnic in its own way not spoiling the traditions of the english culture.Colin Firth was the right choice for the award. He has done an excellent job in King's Speech. Colin chooses his character in an efficient way. I liked him from Darcy in Pride and Prejudice and today I like him as the King. I expected Leo to be nominated either for Inception or Shutter Island. But he did not get nominated. This was the disappointment for me.

Natalie Portman who did the queen role in the Star wars swept the actress award. The role of Black Swan really needed a performer actress and it was Natalie Portman. Black Swan was an amazing movie which captures the dark and lighter side of a ballet dancer and how she pushes herself to become the black swan performer in the stage. Natalie Portman has given her best in doing both the negative and positive side of the role. Inception proved as a competitor in most of the categories for Social Network and King's Speech.

Focusing on the biggest hit (Facebook) in the general public life, Social Network grabbed the Best Motion Picture of the year. Christian Bale swooped the award for the Supporting role as an actor in the movie The Fighter and the best supporting actress was bagged by Melissa Leo for the same movie. I am yet to watch the movie and hence I cannot comment on their performance.

Animation world has its own imaginary world. Lot of films has made impact. Toy Story is no exception. The third sequel of Toy Story and most probably the final episode bagged the award of the best animated picture. The most talked movie Inception got the award for the Visual Effects. I need not speak about the movie for the movie itself has spoken.

When Eli Wallach came on to the stage get his honorary award from the legendary director Clint Eastwood it was awe inspiring. Eli Wallach has given lifetime's worth of indelible screen characters to the Hollywood. According to me Hollywood is very privileged to have Eli Wallach in its pocket.

Irving G. Thalberg Award was given to the legendary producer Francis Ford Coppola for a consistently high quality of motion picture production. Some pf his works include "American Graffiti", "The Black Stallion" , "Koyaanisqatsi" and "Don Juan".

The Lord Of the Rings - Book?? or Movie???

For a long time this question haunted me. Book or Movie??? Finally I got the answer. They all say that it is great epic and I accept that. But nothing can equal our Mahabharata.

It took me nearly 6 months to complete LOTR book. I made up mind and challenged myself to finish this book when few of my friends and one of my cousin gave up in the middle. Today I finished the book completely. With this I should mention that I have also watched the movie for umpteen number of times (Lost track of the count).

BOOK:

The essence of the book entirely lay on the vocabulary and language that was used. More than that the number characters that were brought together at some points. When I completed the first part (with respect to movie) I was so sure that the book and the movie are different. It was very difficult for me to complete the second part (with respect to movie) since it was very dragging. I was reading only 10 pages per day. But eventually took all the effort and speed and came to third part (with respect to the movie). I found that there was lot of difference. I even felt that there were certain unnecessary parts in the book like Frodo and Sam fighting in the shire. This is just an instance and there we were lot of things that branched out and confused me. Still I feel that the book is quiet good in its own way. All it requires is the patience and time by the reader. I was amazed by the maps that were drawn by the author. This shows his creativity and more than that the clarity in his approach.

MOVIE:

I need not speak for the movie for it speaks for itself. The movie is too good that I watch it like a mad women. I was not able to identify any flaws in the movie other than the dragging part of the gollum in the third part. Otherwise It is a must watch movie. I think I have put a separate post earlier about the movie which speak about the movie itself.

Both Movie and Book are different and I would surely give a 100% for the movie and not the book though it is considered the epic. Please check Mahabharata which is the greatest epic in the world and then think why I have not supported the book.
