Hayes Two Week Update

Hayes Two Week Check Up
Height: 19.88 (21%)
Weight: 8lbs 3 oz (41%)
Head: 14.5 (52%)
This has been a rough two weeks for us.  I am so over having a newborn and it has only been a few days.  He doesn't sleep well on his own for naps or at night so that is really rough.  He also fights sleeping ever single nap and at bedtime around 9 pm.  He does nurse well which has been a huge blessing.

Nixon's 3rd Birthday

Nixon Age 3
Height: 37.75 (57%)
Weight: 31.2 (44%)
Nixon's birthday was on Sunday this year, so we had Mitch and Amy come over for dinner to celebrate.  We were all pretty tired since it was Hayes's first full day at home with us, but Nixon was still in heaven with all of the presents and attention he received.
Nixon is seriously the best kid ever.  He is so caring and concerned with how everyone is doing (including baby Hayes), and will literally give you his favorite toy to play with if he thinks it will make you feel better.
He is very animated and loves telling you about his dream and quoting lines from movies.
Nixon is still a pretty tough kid and does great keeping up with the older kids when he plays outside.
His talking has gotten quite a bit better the past month or so....which has been great!
His potty training went pretty well, but we still have accidents with pooping every now and then.  I think by next month he will have that part mastered.  He actually wakes up with a dry pull up every morning, so that was a nice surprise too.
He is obsessed with PJ Masks, Toy Story, baseball, being outside, army bad guys, Garfield, pizza rolls, and blankets.
He was an awesome swimmer this summer and loved doing crazy jumps into the pool.
If you say the word "stupid" he will call you out on it immediately...."don't stay stupid".
I am blown away with how well he has transitioned into a big brother.  Kelsey really struggled when we added Nixon to the family, but Nixon has been the total opposite.  He is always trying to be helpful, and he has been in a really happy mood the whole week.
Happy Birthday Nixon......we LOVE you!!!

Hayes William Forman Born October 10th 2019

Hayes William Forman
October 10, 2019
7:10 pm
7.9 lbs
19 inches

My due date with Hayes was October 16th, but I opted to be induced on the 10th since my doctor would be out of town the week I was actually due.
I started off the day by driving myself to the hospital at 7 am for check in.  Brady took Kelsey to school and then left Nixon with Mitch and Amy for the rest of the day.
7:30 am Pitocin was started and I was dilated 2 cm.  They put an IV in each arm in case I had hemorrhaging after delivering....they wanted quick access to be able to supply me with extra blood.
9:45 am Dr. Welborne came in and broke my water which was very uncomfortable.  I was dialed 3 cm at this point.
11 am I was dilated 5 cm and opted for my epidural...this is when things got tough.  It took him about 40 minutes to get the epidural right so I was in extreme pain each time he started over with the placement.  He said he usually only gets about two cases a year where he has difficulty placing the epidural, and for some reason I was one of them.  I was exhausted after the entire ordeal and he told me I would be pretty sore the next day.  I was really happy that it was actually working though.
12 pm my blood pressure dropped and I felt nauseous and started feeling dizzy.  They administered meds and gave me oxygen to stabilize.
2:30 pm dilated 7 cm and my blood pressure dropped again, so they had to administer the drugs and oxygen.
5:45 pm this time when my blood pressure dropped I threw up a ton of fluid.  I was exhausted from the ups and down with my blood pressure and just wanted to go to sleep.  I also had not eaten since the night before so I was starting to feel weak.
6 pm dilated 10 cm and we did a few practice pushes to see if he would come down a bit.
6:30 pm I actually started pushing but he wasn't making a ton of progress.  One of the nurses had me play tug of war with a sheet and herself and that actually helped me to relax and push correctly.
7:10 pm Hayes came out with his head turned sideways
They were very concerned about having another hemorrhaging incident since apparently it isn't common to have that happen for two deliveries in a row like I did. To help with that they basically shot me up with a ton of medication to make it so I didn't bleed after.  It actually worked and I was so happy I didn't have to deal with that like the previous two deliveries.

After I held him for a while the kids came in to meet Hayes before Brady took them back home for the night.  They were both pretty excited to see him and Nixon was very concerned with the tubes in my arms.
On Friday Brady and Nixon came to visit me in the hospital while Kelsey was at school for the day.  He brought a little army toy for Hayes to play with and was very concerned when he didn't have any toys for his first bath. He is the cutest most concerned big brother, and he is doing so well with the transition.  After their visit, Brady dropped Nixon off with Mitch and Amy for the evening so we could spend some time with Hayes alone.  We also wanted to enjoy our celebratory dinner of steak and lobster.
Saturday afternoon the kids came to pick me up at the hospital.  I LOVE Frisco Baylor and am sad in a way that I will never be back.  The nurses are all so nice and the food is amazing.  I would stay an extra week if they would let me.
