My favorite time of year

Greg drew a picture of a truck for Grey- he carries it everywhere.

What a fun time of year- pumpkin patches, costumes, trick-or-treating, Halloween parties (in which 911 was called:), carnivals, apple cider, scary dogs, and witches fingers, yummy fall smells, pumpkin cookies and cakes, soups and stews, caramel apples, candy, candy, and more candy!  Is anyone hungry yet?  We have had an awesome fall and I am not ready for it to end and get cold and snowy:)

Em is 5!

Our little Emerson turned 5 last week and already she seems so much older to us.  She is such a smart little thing and always on the go- she never stops moving for long:)  She loves to make people laugh and loves to just be silly.  She is loving Pre-school and wants to go every day!  I am glad she is not in every day yet because she is my (& Grey's) little buddy:)

She always wants to have Mac N Cheese for her birthday dinner- even though when I rarely make it from the box she doesn't eat it.  Funny thing:)

Greg finally has some hair!

She wanted a Mermaid cake and this is my best attempt:)

Thank you so much to all our family on both sides for all her gifts and for celebrating her birthday with us!  We love you so much Emi and are SO grateful you are such a big part of our family!

We say Good-bye for now

We have been so blessed to have my sister and her family here visiting from England for a couple of weeks. We haven't seen them for 4 years and have never met their littlest cutie so it was so fun to let the cousins meet each other and play.  They are so adorable and it was very fun listening to their cute English accents and their polite ways of speaking.  They always say "Excuse me" and "as well"- something most of our kids wouldn't think of saying:)  At least my kids are pretty good with "please" and "thank you" right?  It was also fun hearing their English words compared to our American words.

They left yesterday and we are sad to see them go.  But hopefully they will get to move to America within the next year and we can see them all the time.  We love you Gilbert family and are so glad you came to visit!

Em's 1st Day of School Ever

My baby girl went to Preschool last week.

She was so excited she couldn't stop talking about it all summer.  It is only 2 days a week for 3 hours, but boy is it worth it to tide her over till next year.  She missed the cut off for Kindergarten by 2 1/2 weeks:)

She had to wear a dress and her "high heel" sandals.  She ran to the bus, turned and smiled for a picture, and didn't even tell me Good-bye.  She was beyond ready.

She came home and talked about all the treats she got to eat.  That is what is most important to this cute thing you know.  Anyone who knows her knows that she asks for food and treats every 10 minutes of every day.

You couldn't tell it by looking at her could you?

So I am going to enjoy these 6 hours a week not being bugged for food constantly, knowing that she will probably just be bugging her poor teacher to death:)  And Greyson will wander the house calling for "his Emi" to come play with him and he'll just be stuck with silly old Mom.

Back to School

Haven- 2nd grade

Anya- 4th grade- with her new braces!

Waiting to leave for the bus- we were way early and over prepared:)

They had to get a picture with their friend Michelle who waits at our house when her Mom works.  These guys have been friends since toddlerhood.
Since I am finally updating my blog after a very busy summer there are a lot of new posts so keep on scrolling down:)

August- 2012

Haven's new haircut.  She has been wanting it this way for a year so I finally gave in.  She made a good call I think.

Greg's birthday- another year older!

The girls helped design the cake- Dad would like to own all of these machines in real life just to play around with.  Not to actually have a business or make money with.  Funny Dad:)

We moved Nana and Grandpa from Cedar Fort to Nephi last Saturday so they could be closer to Mom and Dad since they are getting up there in years.  As soon as we drove up to their old house I burst into tears.  I am very sentimental about this house and property and all the time we spent there as kids.  It is one of my favorite places in the world and I am very sad I won't spend time there ever again.  Such good memories were made there- at least we always have those right?

His Obsession

This is how I often find Greyson- watching the tractor working through the field
It keeps him busy for quite a while

I'm not complaining

Burying Our Swords F.H.E.

We had a memorable Family Home Evening the other night and I wanted to share it.  I taught the kids about the Anti-Nephi-Lehi's (Alma 24) and how they promised to never shed blood again after they joined Christ's church and were completely changed.  So they buried their swords and even changed their name and covenanted with Heavenly Father that they would not fight ever again.  Then we talked about if we ever have wars in our house and that although we don't have physical wars we often have situations that keep us from having true peace.  We decorated our own swords and wrote some actions on them that we all struggle with that bring contention into our home (even Mom and Dad).  We went out back and Daddy dug a hole so we could bury the swords- and hopefully our behaviors that keep peace away.

We of course still have problems with some of these things, but pretty much every time- the girls remember this lesson and mostly Em says, "We buried that sword- remember?"  So at least they remember that we are trying to make our home a more peaceful, loving place to live.
