Desert Trip

This past weekend we headed out to the desert with the Hogans and Shwams. As always, we had a great time with close friends. Typical desert stuff - splashing, eating, drinking (well, not for me), golfing for the guys, laughing and more memories made at one of our favorite places!

Popsicles and glow sticks - what could be better?

San Diego Zoo

Yesterday we headed to the San Diego Zoo for a fun outing with grandma. I hadn't been there since I was pretty young, so it was cool to experience everything all over again. Of course we saw a ton of animals, did a lot of walking - pretty hilly there, especially while pushing a double stroller while pregnant - and played at the playground. I think we spent the most time looking at the snakes which Owen was completely fascinated by. Perfect outing for a gloomy day!

Miramar Airshow

As I have mentioned before on this blog, one of the things Owen looks forward to most throughout the year is the Miramar Airshow. This is the 3rd year that we have taken him, and this year we decided Colton was old enough to come along too. In addition, our besties the Hogan boys joined us as well, which made for even more fun.

Now, if you have ever been to an airshow you know how LOUD they are. Colton was pretty unsure for about the first 30 minutes we were there, but then he finally got used to the noise and I think ended up having a pretty fun day. Lots of fun climbing in and out of planes and helicopters, and watching all the stunt planes and "loud jets." We'll be back again next year for round 4!

Half Way There!

Hard to believe it but we are half way to meeting our little peanut! Feeling great now and constantly forgetting I am pregnant except when I look in the mirror. Owen couldn't be any sweeter, kissing my belly and talking to the baby all the time. He is still pretty confindent it is a girl - we shall see! I had my 20-week ultrasound today and everything is looking great. It was probably the most hard to not find out the gender today, as I know the tech could tell me with complete confidence what we are having. But, we stuck with it and are still waiting till his or her arrival! As of right now, the baby is measuring 2 days ahead so pretty much right on track. Getting very excited to meet this one, but trying to really appreciate every day of my pregnancy since I'm pretty confindent it is my last, and enjoy our time as a family of four!

First Soccer Season

Two weeks ago Owen started his first season of AYSO soccer! For those of you that know Josh, you know how much he HATES soccer! Needless to say, it took some convincing on my part for Owen to play, but with a few more years left until he can play football, soccer will have to be his sport of choice for now.

Unfortunately I got food poisoning the night before Owen's first game, so Josh had to take him by himself. According to Josh it was "the longest hour of his life." Apparently our son is not a complete natural at soccer (might have something to do with the fact that he had only touched a soccer ball one other time in his life), so the first day was a little rough.

But today was week #3 (they do their practices & games on the same day in his division), and Owen is slowly but surely improving. Most importantly he is having an absolute blast and looks forward to every Saturday game day. Today he actually scored his first goal during the game, so I think that gave him the extra motivation he needs! He may not be the next David Beckham, but as Josh will tell you, I am his #1 fan!

Ready for his first day!

Getting a little pep talk before the big game - this week their team was the Star Wars Sharks

Back to School

On Monday Owen started back at his 2nd year of preschool. He was very lucky to get the same teacher that he had for summer school, who he and I both love! There are also a lot of kids from his class last year, so that has made for a very easy transition for him.

So far this week has been great - Owen has gotten a nice compliment from his teacher every day, and is already talking about a few new friends that he has met. I'm so excited for this fresh new start for him and I think he is going to have a really great year in store!

16 Weeks

Yesterday I went back to the doctor for my 16-week ultrasound. Everything is continuing to look good, and based on the baby's head size he/she is measuring 4 days ahead! At my appointment last month the baby was measuring 1 day ahead so it has done some growing this month! This is probably due to the fact that food is once again my friend, yay! This first trimester was definitely the worst out of all my pregnancies - I felt carsick literally all day long, was constantly gagging and really just didn't want much to do with food at all. Brushing my teeth was the absolute worst. Thankfully once I hit the 12-week mark, all of this started to fade away and now I am feeling like myself again!

This is also the ultrasound where my doctor will usually tell you the baby's gender. But once again, just like we did with Colton, I think we are going to keep baby #3 a surprise! So tempting for me to find out because I am such a planner, but it really is an amazing surprise, so looks like we will have to wait another 5 months or so for the big reveal!

Besides that I am just starting to feel those tiny little bumps deep in my tummy that is making this pregnancy all the more real! It is so easy to forget you are prego when your main focus is on your two other kids. But the belly has definitely popped and I am finding myself slowly - and reluctantly - pulling things out of those maternity bins. Sigh.

Pearly Whites

This is how I find Colton many mornings while I am getting ready for the day and he is running around upstairs. He will run into his bathroom, climb up on the counter, grab his toothbrush and toothpaste and then settle in the sink. He loves brushing his teeth - way more than Owen does - and calls his toothbrush his "nee." I'm not sure how he got that word from toothbrush, but whatever, we understand him. He would probably sit like this all day if I let him, and is always on the search for his "nee" whenever we are upstairs. Unfortunately he is not so good at putting it back in the holder so many times we have to go on a "nee" hunt. Now if I could only get him to floss ...

Bay Club Babes

We met Stacey and the girls at the Bay Club today for one last beach day before the girls and Owen go back to school. Hard to believe that summer is almost over but I for one am ready to move on from this gloomy summer into all the fun fall festivities. So long summer!

Always ready to pose for the camera

Happy Birthday, Cade!

On Saturday we went to one of the boys' best friend's 2nd birthday party, Caden Hogan. The boys had a blast riding on the train and eating cupcakes! Happy birthday to our dear friend Cade, we love you!
