I evaluated a patient recently that answered me like this when I asked about her son. "He's weird", she said. My question to her was if he played sports, was into music or if he likes video games. "He's weird". That's all she could tell me. That's the only thing she had to say about her son. Mind you, he wasn't even a teenager! He is a 5th grader!!!!!
I hope, and pray, to know my girls better than that, and to let others know how great they are also. I never want to give a negative, one word answer when someone asks what kinds of things my girls like to do. I want to know them, truly know their hearts. I want to not only be able to let people know what kinds of things they like to do, but also what makes them happy, sad or in between.
Disclaimer: I do realize that I don't know this patient front to back, but it just caught me off guard when she couldn't come up with one single positive thing to say about her son. I mean, even if my girls were into lots of trouble and hated me I would at least say that instead of saying "she's just weird". I would be honest and open. Weird is never a word that I would use. Our babies, no matter how old, are NOT WEIRD, they are human! In fact, we are all a little weird so there is no need to state it:)

First hospital stay
Well, it finally happened. Palmer was covered in sister kisses one too many times and she caught RSV from her sisters. She went from Mimi saying that she was fussy on Friday to the hospital on Monday. It was a whirlwind weekend full of crying, fevers and coughs. By Monday she was super congested, screaming constantly and quite rattly in her chest. The pedi confirmed that she was severely dehydrated and had just a bit of wheezing in her right lung. He sent us to be admitted for fluids and to monitor her lungs and breathing. It was scary, but I was very much at peace with her being admitted because I knew it would make her better. I felt so, so helpless at home.
One sick baby, but it could have been so much worse
By the next day she was all smiles
The big sisters were troopers during all of this. I sent an update to them, via teacher text message, at school on Tuesday so that they would know how baby sister was doing. This is what Huddy's teacher sent back. Notice that she is practicing writing Ellie's name. They have so much love for each other.
Our sweet angel is feeling all better!

University of Texas Girl Day
Every year the University of Texas hosts a girl's day of engineering. This year both girls were old enough to go! I can't say too much about the day because I really have no idea what happened there since George took them, but he did take quite a few pics, and it looks like they had fun, so I wanted to document them.
They made a stop at the Magnoilia which made me super jealous!
I'm pretty sure that they have no idea just how lucky they are to have such a great daddy!
They even caught up with a few friends while they were there. This was really crazy to me since there were over 5000 girls in attendance!

Palmer 3 months
Stats:
Weight 11.4 pounds (8th %ile)
Length not sure
Sleeping: She goes down around 630, wakes usually around 2 to eat super quick and back down until about 5, eats and out until around 7. She would probably sleep longer, but the mornings are cray around here so someone always wakes her up. She still takes two shorter naps and one super long nap most days.
Oh, and she sleeps in her swing. We have yet to make the bed transition.
Eating: She eats about every three hours during the day, sometimes two hours, sometimes four. Pretty much just whenever she eats her hands, I feed her.
Milestones: She's cooing, almost rolling back to tummy, loves tummy time, loves her sisters, loves to be the center of attention, hates the car, loves her swing, loves to just be right in the middle of chaos so she can see what's going on, loves to snuggle and be held

Hudson turns 6!
I'm really not sure how my brown-eyed beauty turned 6, but she did. She's wise beyond her years and her beauty shines from the inside out. She can drive me crazy and melt my heart all in the same minute. She marches to her own beat and lights up a room with her smile. I love my little Hud-buggins with all of my being.
We celebrated with cinnamon rolls, cake, bowling and movie night. It was the "best day" according to the birthday girl.
Of course the best presents are the ones that big sister picks out. A new shirt, skirt, watch and a folding brush. What more could a girl ask for? We got her a gift card to Old Navy and it wasn't near as cool.
Somehow we conned Mimi into bowling with us. I think she enjoyed it:)
Littlest Pet Shop from Mimi.
Cheap, artificial flavor-filled cake for breakfast is a tradition that we just can't part from.
Purple cake for the win!
This was 7pm on birthday night. I'm not sure if it was the sugar crash, being worn out or from being sick this past week.
George and I are starting to feel a little guilty that we never have "real parties" for our kids. I mean, we've had a few, but it's definitely not a yearly occurrence. The funny part is though that the girls never really ask or seem upset that friends aren't coming along for the "party". They are content with it being just us. So, we may have a party or two in the future, but for now I won't feel too bad.

Opposites Attract and Funny Huddy
I was putting up laundry today and something stopped me.
I tend to lump my "bigs" into one sweet little category together. They share everything, do the same activities, have the same friends, eat the same foods. So I have to stop myself sometimes and remember that they are VERY different individuals. This usually comes into play with discipline as they are very different in their responses to it.
Today I realized, or it was just reiterated, that they are very different when it comes to cleanliness and organization.
Exhibit A: Wesley's sock and undie drawer
Exhibit B: Hudson's sock and undie drawer
This should be real fun when they are teenagers sharing a room and a closet!
Huddy is always saying the funniest things. Most of it is her age and that she is learning new words, but doesn't know how to use them in context.
A few days ago George got frustrated in the kitchen and said "sweet baby Jesus". Huddy immediately rolls her eyes, throws her hands in the air and says, "our God, our Lord".
We cracked up. She was trying to say anything bad, but it sounded more like worship. Not at all like using his name in vain or anything like that. See, using things out of context just by what she hears.

Virus schmirus
The two big girls in this picture had low grade fevers and a nasty cough since yesterday so it was off to the dr we went today. They first told us it was a cold, but wanted to swab for RSV since we have a baby. You know, the baby that is right in the middle of the coughs in the picture:)
Sure enough, RSV positive for both, and Huddy too. Not the best news, but not the worst. We have to keep coughs off of baby and no kisses from big sisters until they are fever free. So far our sweet Palmer is in the clear!
All the sickies before Huddy went to school
Feverish baby asleep by 5pm
