Do I need my keys to take out the Garbage?

This morning, being garbage day, I was taking a bag of garbage out to the garbage can in the street. It was a lazy morning and I was still in my pajamas and slippers. Seeing as how I was just going to the curb and back, I didn't bring my keys....silly me. Addie must have been trying to open the door to follow me but instead she dead bolted the door. Boy was I surprised to find I was locked out in my pajamas. Addie was crying because she couldn't open the door and there I was, trying to talk to a frustrated 3 year old through unlocking the door. Didn't go so well. After about 5 minutes of negotiations, I just told her to go to the back and unlock the screen door. This meant I had to go around the side of the house in the deep snow with my slippers falling off...so basically barefoot. I guess from now on, I will take my keys with me whenever I go out

mmmm... Yummy Snow

Check out this snow! It just keeps comming down. I've actually enjoyed it this year. Maybe it's because we don't have to worry about waking up at 6:30 to shovel, like we did when we were the apartment onsite-managers. The kids have really enjoyed it too. Addie loves eating snow and although she understands that you shouldn't eat yellow snow, she doesn't see anything wrong with eating the snow from the bottom of your shoe or the Walmart parking lot. YUCK!
Kimball was pretty mad at me when I made him go inside. He really had fun in this new white stuff
Here she is eating the snow. At least it was clean
On another note, my wonderful friend Aubrey just moved away. She was my walking buddy and my sewing buddy and my venting buddy...me venting, not her. Now what am I going to do. Man I'm gonna miss you Aubs.

You'll have to pardon the red eyes. It wasn't fun saying goodbye

Christmas is here again

Is it just me or has December gone by super fast this year? I feel like I want to leave up all my decorations for another month at least but Christmas is in 2 days. I guess I could re-decorate our tree for Valentines Day :-). Here are just a few pictures of the last month. More will follow. I need to catch up on my posts before Christmas gets here.
Here we are getting the Christmas tree. Addie didn't last to long in the snow and spent most the time with my sister in the car (Thanks Varoo) Kimball did surprisingly well on my back. He seemed like he enjoyed it despite the fact that when I took him out, his pants, shoes and socks were soaking. Weather that was from snow falling in the backpack or an incompetent diaper, I don't know. We found a beautiful tree though.
See, I told you it was pretty
Good ol' St. Nick. Kimball wasn't too sure about Santa. Maybe that is because Ammon was chasing him around the house with a huge Santa doll. I'm sure he will need therapy later. Addie was sick this day but wanted to Thank Santa and ask him for a candy cane.

They have a Childrens parade and it was a lot of fun. Addie loved all the princesses and Kimball loved everything, especially the giant gingerbread man blimp...thing.
Oh I love Christmas

Thanksgiving happenings

Well for any of you who have read any of my siblings blogs, this will probably be a repeat of everything that you have read but since this is a journal for me, I'm writing about it anyway. So this thanksgiving was such a blast. There were 5 of the 7 kids (+ spouses and children of course) that came for Thanksgiving this year. Well with 12 adults and 13 kids we knew we would be pretty squished trying to eat in the livingroom so for the last several months I have been going over to Parowan whenever I can to help clean my parents garage and for those of you who have ever seen my parents garage, you would know this was NO SMALL PROJECT!!!! They have lived there for over 30 years and the garage is their storage space.....for everything. Ammon and I emptied out the entire top of the garage and that was interesting. They have saved so many things and it was so nice to just clean and de-junk it. My dad insulated the walls, and we laid carpet (pictured below). My mom makes beautiful quilts so we hung them up on the walls for her own personal quilt show and we added lamps, plants and a few other decorations and it turned out so wonderful. It was so great to have a place for us all to fit in and eat and play games together. I love my family.

My sisters Paige and Val hanging my mom's beautiful quilts.

The night before Thanksgiving, we have a tradition of having a pig dinner. This is actually where we eat out of trophs and we can't use our hands. I've posted several pig dinners on this blog before but none of Kimball and Addie so here they are at the pig dinner.

Well that is it for Thanksgiving part one. Michelle...my personal dictionary, I'm sure I will be hearing from you of I'm sure the many mis-spellings that may be in here.

what happens when Ammon uses the camera

So after the last post, Ammon felt reprimanded and started taking pictures. These are some of the ones that he took....that night. Well I took the last one because they were posing and needed someone else to take it. He took a picture that I laughed pretty hard at but thought that it might scare off the faint of heart from reading the blog anymore. It was a close up picture of his leg bent at the knee, but it looked like something else entirely. For you Thumbwars fans, you probably would understand better if I said "That's no moon". I found it funny that even though he was taking the pictures, most of them were of him and Addie. I love my hubby

Once Upon a time

Once upon a time
in a story rhyme
there were 3 bears,
yeah 3 bears

Papa Bear

Momma Bear
(who is a little camera shy....well if truth be told, she is just always the one behind the camera cause papa bear doesn't think about taking pictures. Momma bears usually are the ones taking the pictures. Isn't that right all you momma bears?)

And little bitty Baby Bear

One day they went a walkin'
through the woods,
started talkin'
when a long came a girl with long golden hair.
Knocked on the door
(knock knock knock knock)
No one was there,
she didn't care,
walked right in and sat right down.
Home came those three bears.....and decided she was cute and that they would adopt her, and they all lived happily ever after.
The End

It's a good thing we took pictures

Reminder to self...don't carve pumpkins in the future until October 30th. We carved these pumpkins last Saturday night and by Sunday afternoon, many of them were is sad shape. It's a good thing we took pictures because they look like unexplainable monsters now.

Einstein
Mickey Mouse
a fish....okay its not a fish, its a spider web and tombstone but I hope you could tell that without me saying

yummy yummy

While decorating for Fall, I was tying up some corn stocks and found a few ears of corn still attached. Addie loves shucking corn and soon found the left behind loot. She quickly got busy shucking and gave her brother one of the ears. Next thing I see is the 2 of them sitting on the porch, eating the raw corn and LOVING it. They know how to keep it simple. They are so darn cute!

News Junky Finds Fame, but no Fortune...unfortunately.

Ammon had a chance to be on the NPR news Quiz "Wait Wait Don't Tell Me." He got the "Listener Limrick" challenge (the rhyming riddles), where he was asked 3 rhyming riddles about this week's news. If you get best 2 out of 3 then you win Karl Kasell's voice on your outgoing home answering message. He won, and so we are trying to figure out what we want Karl to say. Can any of you give us any ideas? Who knows, maybe you can have your chance for fame if we use your ideas. We need your help!

Go ahead and listen to the show:

I am so lucky

Do you ever have moments where you just stop and think "Wow! this is MY life" I sometimes think if the child I was were able to look into the future and see what my life has become, what would they think. I feel like I have such a wonderful life. Yeah we are dirt poor and my husband still has years of schooling but we are happy and I adore myhusband and children. The other night I was checking on the kids after they had gone to sleep and I had one of those "wow" moments. It amazes me that I have been entrusted with these precious precious children (who sometimes drive me crazy). I am their teacher. Oh the things I need to teach them. Oh, the things they teach me. My family is my biggest blessing.

Yikes

So I have always loved Ammons nose. I decided I wanted a nose job so that I could have a nose like his. Since I wasn't going to be using mine anymore, Ammon decided he might as well use it. Well then we just got all crazy and started handing out facial features. Addie.....lucky little girl, got all our leftovers.

Kimballs Birthday celebration

Well my baby turned one. This year has flown by so fast and Kimball has added so much to our lives. I just can't believe how much I love this little guy. Well we split his Birthday up into 2 days. On the 12th (his actual birthday) we just relaxed a bit. My sister Michelle and her 2 boys came and spent the day with us so that was fun.

Kimball loves to play with bubbles.

That evening, after Ammon got home, we went to walmart to let the kids ride a few rides in the fun center. I guess that is a college students "Disneyland" some of the rides that they wanted to ride were'nt working so we just had to shake them a little to give them the effect. It was kinda funny.

We did not pose Addie in this next picture. She just wanted to pick Ronald McDonalds nose. We tried to tell her "you can pick your friends and you can pick your nose but you can't pick your friends nose" She did it anyway.
