I’m da-AL. This space is a collection of love letters to the unconventional—to pets, to authors, and to anyone who has ever feared they are too odd, too damaged, or too old to find happiness.
My writing explores the intersection of resilience and the beauty found in our scars. If you’d like to keep up with my journey, please follow this blog using the button in the sidebar or menu to receive updates whenever I post something new.

Where to Start
To get a sense of the heart behind my upcoming novels, Flamenco + the Sitting Cat and Tango + the Sitting Cat, I invite you to explore these three deeply personal essays:
- [The Unexpected Lesson My Dogs Taught Me] – Reflections on finding joy in unconventional places.
- [My Abortion Story and Jury Duty] – A candid look at bodily autonomy and the unexpected intersections of life.
- [Surviving Childhood Trauma and Reclaiming My Voice] – The story of how I learned to navigate my past and find the courage to tell my own truth.
Thank you for being here.

My wife and I are obsessed with our dog Walter, a Boxer who turns four this week. In fact, we’re throwing him a party this weekend; not the first one. Recently while in bed—her watching TV and me writing a blog—my wife said, “Why don’t you write a blog about Walter?” Guess what? I started immediately, and an hour later voila. It’s so easy writing about the things you’re passionate about.
