Wasatch Back

How is everyone's summer going?    Things are good here, just working and trying to enjoy the little bit of extra free time since the semester ended.

Last weekend I ran the Ragnar Wasatch Back Relay.  I had SO much fun!  It definitely tested my speed, endurance, attitude, and my ability to function with little to no sleep, but it was so worth it.  If you're not familiar with the race, it is a 200 mile relay race that you run on a 12-person team.  Each person runs 3 times for various distances and at different locations along the course.  The race is continuous, you run through the night.  My team finished in 32hrs, 32 min, placing 384th out of 1087 in our division.  Not bad!  Here are my individual stats:

First Run: Leg # 7: 5:46pm - 4.7 miles in 49 minutes
Second run: Leg #19: 2:38am - 3.7 in 42 minutes (this was a tough up-hill climb)
Third run: Leg #31: 1:45pm - 4.1 miles in 42 minutes

At my first exchange, ready to get going

I totally dig this fake tat.  It made me feel tough

Coming into the exchange after my first run

Jake took a midnight - 4:30am volunteer shift so he could see my night run

All decked out in my reflective gear, just finished my night run

My team - We did it!
The bling!

I have to admit that my training for the race was lackluster.  I'm happy with my times due to that fact, but it definitely has given me motivation to train better for the next one.  Vegas Ragnar, November 2013 - here I come!
