How did you get your name?

I have 4 preggo friends right now thinking of what to name their babies, so I started to wonder how our parent's came up with each of our names. I know my parent's thought I was going to be a red headed boy named Michael. However, when a dark haired girl came out they had no idea what to name me.

Throughout my mom's pregnancy, my 3 year old cousin, Linsey, always talked to my mom's tummy saying "I can't wait to play with you Holly Bunny". Even though she was corrected countless times saying I was a boy, she didn't care. I guess she figured Holly was an appropriate boy name as well. Needless to say, my parents kept coming back to Holly when they were giving me my name. Thankfully they dropped the Bunny part...although that did turn into a nickname and was shortened to Buns for many years.

My middle name, Lyn, came from my Dad's cousin Lyneve who went by Lyn. Randomly, Lyn was also my mom's little sister in drill team when they were in high school. I wish they would have kept Lyneve just because it isn't as common as Lyn. My mom wishes she would have spelled my middle name Lynn so that I would have double letters in all of my names. :)

How did you get your name? Or how did you come up with your child's name?

I am just not a good blogger...

Well I was reading through my NY resolution blog, and apparently my resolution of blogging once a week has not really happened. I LOVE reading everyone else's blogs, but for some reason I have no motivation to write one of my own. So...here is a brief synopsis to what has been going on in my life for the past 6 months....

In February, I turned 30! It was a milestone birthday that I was really not looking forward to at all. However, we had a blast at my 80's themed roller skating birthday party!
In March, we had a girl's weekend / business trip to Vegas which was so much fun! I miss my Austin besties (Becca and Dana) all the time!
April and May were really busy work months for me.

In June, Brian and I took a vacation to Maui! We had such a great time. It was a lot of fun just hanging out the 2 of us for a week.

July has been a fun in the sun month for us. We had a great 4th of July pool party and went with our Austin friends to Aquapalooza on Lake Travis.

New Year's Eve 2009!

Brian and I went to Austin for NYE this year. We had a great time hanging out with the Burtons! On NYE, we went to P.F. Chang's for dinner and then over to The Belmont for the evening festivities. The next day I went with Dana to pick her kids up from her mother in law and it was so fun playing with Blake and Haley. They really are the cutest kids!

New Year's Resolutions

My New Year's Resolutions this year...I wanted to publish them with hope that it will help me be more accountable in actually doing them!

*To have a GOOD quiet time each day with just me and God
*To blog at least once a week (*this one is going to be a tough one for me...I love reading blogs, but I always have a block when it comes to writing my own!)
*To work out at least three times a week (I am hoping my Wii Fit will motivate me!)
*To keep my desk organized. My study looks like a paper tornado came in!
*To recycle. I think it would be one less land fill needed if I recycled the Diet Coke can that I drink!

I can't wait...

Brian's new job has been very travel intensive so far. Since July, he has been home for a week and a half during the week days. Up until right before Halloween he was able to come home on the weekends or flew me out to where he was, but since October 29th he has been in Australia. Obviously, he is unable to come home on the weekends since the flight is almost a day long. He is FINALLY going to be home on Friday! I am so excited to have my hubby back!

It wasn't so bad when he was gone just during the weeks because (a) he came home on the weekends and (b) I could call him whenever I wanted to since we were basically in the same time zone and he had a working phone. Since he has been in Australia, it has really just sucked. Weekends are super lonely. I can't call him whenever because his personal cell won't work in Australia and his work cell has since broken and won't be replaced until he is back in the States. And oh yeah...there is a 16 hour time difference. So he is sleeping for a good chunk of my day.

I feel so bad for him too because at least I have had my family and friends here. He is pretty much by himself for 3 weeks. And to make matters worse he was all by himself on his birthday! He went to a nice steak restaurant and ate alone. How sad is that?!?! He has been working until 9 or so every night (including the weekends) so he hasn't even been able to go around and see Australia either.

I can't wait for him to get here on Friday! And the best news is that so far he is not scheduled for any more trips until next fall when is supposed to go to Korea!

For the past couple of weeks, I have wanted a new hair do. My hair was in desperate need of a haircut! I thought I knew exactly what I wanted, but as it turns out I don't like it. I wanted to have a cut like Silver on 90210.

However, it doesn't look like that on me. It looks more like...

I am hoping it will grow out fast!
