A New Decade is Here

Image
I want to thank my regular readers for sticking it out with me. I do appreciate it. It's so nice to know there is someone out there reading what I have to spew. I want to wish everyone a Happy New Year. Let's put 2009 to rest this blue moon Eve. Good Night, TTYL and Be Well Everybody!

Winter Doldrums

Image
I started this post on Boxing Day (12/26). I have been feeling like crying lately, but unable to do it. An ennui has overcome me. It sucks. I blame MS for this - this lack of spirit, of waning energy, of memories of good years gone by, this encompassing wistfulness. I'm sliding into depression. This is what it feels like. Now it's 12/28. Depression is a strange beast. I can recognize it now, and so will start taking my Zoloft again. It doesn't take much to re-elevate my seratonin levels, so I will keep sharing with DH, as he does need them more than I do. FWIW, my Rx is written so that it's enough for the two of us if I stick with taking 50mg which I didn't. Here is a meme I picked up over at Letters from a Hill Farm. Write the first line of the first post of each month of 2009; see what patterns, if any, emerge. I got one purchase, two post-writing-gap apologies, two awards, a fireworks, an apology for a mis-statement of fact, Radagast lisence came due, not...

First Day of Winter

Yes, I know it's getting lighter now, and I am very happy for that, but I have to remind myself that along with being the Winter Solstice, the shortest day of the year - and thus the longest night - this is the first day of Winter, and Winter brings with it cold, often wet, weather... and SNOW. I have a love/hate relationship with snow. I love to watch it, but I hate to be out in it anymore. It is one more thing that MS has taken away from me; my inability to move well keeps me from enjoying SNOW! No snow angels for this one anymore - if I got down on the ground to make one, there I'd be - my own three dimensional snow angel. I could flap my arms to make wing impressions, but my angel wouldn't have much of a robe, I'm afraid, as my legs would not cooperate for that. I look out my window at the sparrows and chickadees eating from the feeder. They are bickering, and also feeding off the ground. Because we have kitties in residence, DH put some thorny rose branches beneat...

Best laid plans

There are things I wanted to get done today that didn't get done. I overslept, and I have a persistent headache, not a migraine, but a dull thud. And my head feels thick, like congested sinuses or something. Plus, my left leg has been jumping ever since I got dressed. Must take another baclofen . Yes, I know ... it sucks to be me right now. I didn't get out to the drugstore or to Great Harvest today, even though I did manage to call them before I rolled over and tried to go back to sleep this morning. GH will be making their Yulekake today and Friday, and Tuesday - Thursday next week. So next week I'll go thatta way on my errand running. We put off grocery shopping using my headache as an excuse, so that will happen tomorrow. Tonight, after I post this, I think I'll watch A (you'll poke your eye out!) Christmas Story and write Christmas cards. Occasionally I can multitask. That will at least be one more thing to cross off my list. Good Night, TTYL and Be We...

Lynn's not coming to stay

Image
I feel like it's the middle of the afternoon but it's really nearly 8 AM. That's what I get for staying up all night (well, with some light dozing in my chair) and finally going to bed after 1:00 PM! I lead a crazy life, yet not. Last Wednesday, I stayed up all night as I had a lunch engagement with the girls at Noon, and I knew there was no way I would get up at 10:30 after five or six hours of sleep. So I did the next best thing: I stayed awake. I felt fine! And it has screwed me up all the days since! Are you tired of hearing about my weird sleep patterns yet? I should think you would be. So on to other news. Lynn got home from Ghana without problems. She came over Friday to tell me that instead of coming to live here, a friend of hers in Port Angeles rented a cabin for her just North of Sequim . It's a one-room cabin, and she was moving the next day. Needless to say I am disappointed, as she never gave this living situation a chance, not having stayed for more than...

I have pictures of the rest of the pets in and around the house. This is Nishita . She is one solid little love bug. She is an outdoor (mostly) kitty, because she just never got the hang of using the litter box, and that was not okay with us. She has a very nice little setup on the covered patio, however, and seems quite content with it. She has lovely green eyes which the camera flash washed out. And this is our Beulah, doing what she does best. She lives for food, and this is how she spends the rest of her day. At this point (nearly 15 years old), she is blind. She is a nice dog, but really doesn't have a lot to offer. She's not very smart, and not particularly affectionate, unless you're handing out treats! Other than that, as Elvis put it, "She ain't nothin ' but a Hound Dog, cryin ' all the time." What can I say? One day I got "Basset Consciousness" and my car drove me to the pound intent on getting a Basset Hound when I was heading f...

New Digital Camera!

Image
We treated ourselves to a Black Friday Christmas bargain present - a GE A1235 camera for less than $70. We just missed out on a slightly better camera, but Oh Well, beggars can't be choosers! So without further ado, I will present to you two of my little precious-es: This is big brother, Rajah. He is the sweetest cat I've ever owned. Really smart, too! And this is Purnima. She's our beauty; a little clumsy, but very loving. And this I received from Herrad today, well, yesterday, but we are on opposite schedules on opposite sides of the globe, so ... whenever. Thanks Herrad, I heart your blog too! Soon we will get pictures of Nishita, and of course Beulah. Once done I will post. Good night, TTYL, and Be Well Webster JC: See what I mean about Raj and Purnima being so similar to Ashton and Jasmine?
