It's great to be eight!

One of the great days...Gracie got baptised today. Can't believe my baby is eight. Last of the kids. It was a great day - Matt gave a prayer, Joey and Kyle gave talks, and her dad baptised and confirmed her. I have really lucked out and have a wonderful family. I wish Alli, Nate and their families could have been there - then it would have been perfect!!! It was pretty close already.

Salinas High School - Graduation 2010

Salinas High School Graduation 2010

The principal got up and talked a bit about this class. This was his first year and he was talking about what a great class this was. The finest accomplishment was they put the "spirit" back into school spirit. He mentioned the infamous "S" cape -shown below. So glad to have such a good kid!
And what a year for basketball - some oh crud moments and some oh my gosh moments!

Walking in - he is the one with the light khaki pants and white shoes (I still don't know whose shoes those were)

The class of 2010 - 510 strong

Getting his diploma

Family shot

Kyle, Mom and Amber (we are facebook buds) She is one of Kyle's friends and has been for a long time - she is wonderful!

they call this a bromance - Kyle and Joe are such good friends. I am so glad Kyle has had such terrific friends at SHS!

Kyle and Amber

Just some fun that was had by all....

We spent the day at Universal Studios after my graduation in SoCal. This softened the blow of a boring and political graduation ceremony the night before!

It's graduation season...

Kyle is at Disneyland for Grad night. I can't believe he is ready to graduate! It just seems like yesterday that Alli attended her grad night...then Nathan...then Joey...whoa!

I decided to do it! I officially graduated in December but I walked with my CNS class on May 21 in SoCal.It was fun to see everyone and catch up talk about our plans. I went to school with a great group of women and am so glad to know them and lucky enough to work with one of them! Thanks Lisa!

Lesson 1 - How to play basketball with a broken arm..

I can hold the ball like this.
Or like this...

I can shoot free throws one handed...

I keep my arm elevated...

I play through it. And can still lead the game in scoring.
Sorry for such a rough Senior year - concussion, sprained back, pink eye and a broken arm. But you played through it and taught us all a lesson in dedication and commitment. Can't wait until next year - I will start saving for our deductible now.

How to talk so your kids will listen...or....

This was the scene at the Salinas High gym Friday night. You can read about it here It was a very scary night as they talked about putting him on a helicopter and sending him to a neuro/spine trauma unit. He laid like this for 20 minutes...very little or no movement. He had numbness and tingling in his hands so, of course, they were concerned about a spinal injury. I was worried he hit his head again and had lost consciousness. I was thankful he opened his eyes for me and was talking. It was a very scary night...did I already say that? He had no broken bones in his back but encountered a severe sprain. We will see his ortho doc this week to determine how much damage was done. He's shooting to be back on the court by the end of the season.

We could feel the many prayers on his behalf and are thankful for all of them.
