Talk about an endorsement...

I am not usually the most political guy in the world but Colin Powell's desciption of what America is, is a beautful thing.

This was the best part of the speech for me.
I’m also troubled by, not what Senator McCain says, but what members of the party say. And it is permitted to be said such things as, “Well, you know that Mr. Obama is a Muslim.” Well, the correct answer is, he is not a Muslim, he’s a Christian. He’s always been a Christian. But the really right answer is, what if he is? Is there something wrong with being a Muslim in this country? The answer’s no, that’s not America. Is there something wrong with some seven-year-old Muslim-American kid believing that he or she could be president? Yet, I have heard senior members of my own party drop the suggestion, “He’s a Muslim and he might be associated terrorists.” This is not the way we should be doing it in America.
I feel strongly about this particular point because of a picture I saw in a magazine. It was a photo essay about troops who are serving in Iraq and Afghanistan. And one picture at the tail end of this photo essay was of a mother in Arlington Cemetery, and she had her head on the headstone of her son’s grave. And as the picture focused in, you could see the writing on the headstone. And it gave his awards—Purple Heart, Bronze Star—showed that he died in Iraq, gave his date of birth, date of death. He was 20 years old. And then, at the very top of the headstone, it didn’t have a Christian cross, it didn’t have the Star of David, it had crescent and a star of the Islamic faith. And his name was Kareem Rashad Sultan Khan, and he was an American. He was born in New Jersey. He was 14 years old at the time of 9/11, and he waited until he can go serve his country, and he gave his life. Now, we have got to stop polarizing ourself in this way.

A little article...

Here is a link to an article my bud Brad wrote up about some training that we went to in Denver for two weeks late last year. http://www.peoplelandandwater.gov/bor/11-27-06_hoover-power-plant.cfm It was the first time in a while that I had been to training that was really enjoyable. No doubt it was some of the best job related training I have ever been to. They also had a simulator there that they actually used as a learning tool. Oh yeah, I got to go see a Rockies game while I was there too!

NASCAR - Las Vegas

Bradley and I got to spend a great weekend, March 9th-11th, at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway for the Busch and Nextel Cup races. (Thanks Beth!!!)

One short weekend in Arkansas a few years ago and Pops turned Bradley into a Nascar junkie. I don't think He was really happy that Bradley ended up a 24 fan though :-) . Gordon has been his driver since the beginning.

Teammates and buddies on and off the track!!!!

Drop the hammer in the Busch race.

Sometime during the Busch race I told Bradley that there was a fair chance that he may see a few Rednecks here at the race. This was a fella sitting a few seats away from us for the weekend, Bradley looked at him then me and said "Dad, he is a pure blood" redneck. Surprisingly, not, he had an 8 on his hat and an Anheuser Busch tattoo on his arm. Yeee Haaa!

NASCAR Nextel

Up early to miss the traffic, Bradley and I get sunscreened up and head out to the Track again for the Nextel Cup race. With some good action at the end of the race the day before, Burton spinning Kyle Busch at the finish line, we were looking forward to a great day of racing.

'Welcome Race Fans' heading in to the track at about nine in the morning.

The press box a the speedway.

As you can tell we had some great seats, just out of turn 4 at the entrance too pit lane.

Me and Bradley hanging out!

You got to love the jets overhead just after the public prayer and the singing of the 'National Anthem'. 'AMERICANA at its finest' as Colonel would say.

Dropping the hammer in the Nextel race.

Had to get a picture of the big painted logo on the infield.

Bradley and I were thinking that across the way over there, on the back side of the track, is where Pops needs to park his fifth wheel next race so we can sit on top and be real REDNECKS!

Bradley and I had our In-car headsets on all weekend, which was real cool, except for all of the F bombs Tony Sterwart was dropping!!!

A one two finish for Hendrick Motor Sports and me and Bradley. Jimmy Johnson got first with Jeff Gordon right behind.

Hello again

Well, Angie is on me to post again so I guess I will.
It has been one crazy summer as you can read in Beth’s blog. The family got out here at the end of May and it seems like it has been non-stop since. There is just so much to do and see in a new place. It sure has been good to have the family out here with me. The job is still awesome. It has been good to see some familiar faces out here visiting and I hope to see some more soon. Dad and Dixie are supposed to be in tomorrow. I have been really looking forward to the family getting to spend some time with them and having Dad come visit the dam. I will post when they leave to let you know how it goes. LSU football is right around the corner and we are looking forward to that too. GEAUX TIGERS! Here is another cool picture of the Dam.
