6 Weeks Old

Drew is now 6 weeks old.
At his one month appt., he was 10 lbs and 22" long.  He's even bigger now.
He's colicky in the evening, can be a fussy eater,
and is beginning to show signs of cradle crap (as my kids like to call it).
And just like his grandpa, he is a punctual early riser,
waking up between 4:02 and 4:20 EVERY single  morning.
And we are all 100% completely smitten with him.

We are starting to see some smiles...

Except when he wears certain shades of blue.

Last week I caught Nate trying to stop the crying by pinching his toes (he, he)

Our First Trip to Indy

Sam is just about done with elementary school.
My oldest will be starting middle school in the fall.
We have been so very lucky, his school has been a wonderful place for him to grow.  I can't say enough about how wonderful his teacher is this year, and last year too.
And he has some good friends and they are good kids - as a mom, I'm really grateful for that.

The school planned a special field trip, just for the 5th graders.  They went to the Children's Museum in Indianapolis, IN and then to Hard Rock Cafe for lunch afterwards.  The museum was amazing.
Sam really wanted his dad to go, but there wasn't enough room for parents on the bus and Jer didn't want to drive alone.  So I went and because I went, Nate & Drew went.   Olivia stayed at school and got sprayed by the firetrucks (all in fun of course)

I wanted to get more pictures for Sam to remember this special day with his friends, but I didn't want to embarrass him too much.  I feel like I'm entering dangerous territory these days.  I know I'm not the cool mom, but I hope to at least avoid becoming the "uncool" mom.

The Bedtime Fairy

Lately we just can't seem to get to bed at a decent time and our evenings are starting to get a little too crazy... school is still in session and that darn bus comes so early,

A little bedtime fairy has been visiting kids who get to bed on time...
or at least at a reasonable hour

He cuddles in bed and will stay a while...

Play a little dress up

And tuck them in snug and tight
(cross our fingers they will stay there)

Sigh - I'm so ready for our summer vacation to begin.

Sam's 11th Birthday Party

For Sam's 11th Birthday party, we went with an Angry Birds theme.  I found some fun ideas on Tip Junkie months ago and we have been saving boxes ever since.

The goody bags (I found the printable for these guys here)

The cake

I was really excited about these little guys.  I have never so much as touched fondant before, but there are some good online tutorials and I decided to give it a shot.  It was kinda fun.

For the party activities, we built edible towers with all sorts of junk food.  I wish I would have given the boys equal portions to begin with, but I let them select what they wanted.  There were some crazy buildings.  These boys had some clever ideas, but I think it was a race to see who could get the most junk food on their plate the fastest.

After the boys built towers out of boxes they took turns knocking them down then rebuilt the structure.

Race Day

On Saturday, our school district sponsored an open 2000 meter cross country race for all 3rd, 4th and 5th graders in our county.  Sam and Olivia both raced and had alot of fun.  Sam took 11th overall in the boys race and placed 5th among all 5th graders.  Olivia placed 8th overall in the girls race and 1st for all 3rd graders, making her the fastest 3rd grader in the county!

Taking Care of Baby

Taking a bath - in the bathroom sink.  Getting out the baby tub just seems like too much work.

Big sister Liv gets to wash his hair, while Sam is the photographer.  These kids are the best helpers, I couldn't do it without them.
