Merry Christmas

Friday, December 11, 2009

I'm a slacker, but everybody already knows that. It took my sister calling (who never calls) to get me to update this.

The boys really wanted me to put up a picture of our tree. This year I went out and replaced all our ornaments with shatterproof ones. I should have done it a long time ago.

I made my mother in law's cinnamon rolls. They are the best tasting thing in the world to me right now. I made 3 dozen- it wasn't anywhere near enough. Good thing I bought two frostings so I can make more :)

My kids are seriously weird and I love it. These pictures remind me of some pictures of my siblings and me with some balloons and underwear.

Happy Birthday Christian. I was tired and admit to not taking many pictures. I have a few videos, but they are too big to put on here.

And because everyone wants to see more of my pee....... that's right. number 5, alive.

edited to add: I'm due June 8th so currently 14 weeks along.

Super Dad

Sorry the video is so short. I just wanted everyone to see how great Frank really is, even if he does refer to himself as adequate dad.

Soccer

Soccer games have started for the boys. They are on the same team and we've had so much fun watching them. Tomorrow's game starts at 8 which is some cruel and unusual punishment. I shouldn't have to wake up earlier for a soccer game than any other day.

Right as their first game ended Lorelei kicked a fire ant pile. Frank saw her do it and was able to get to her quickly. She ended up with about 50 bites. Ouch Ouch.

Rub a Dub Dub

Christian really thinks he's big. He can crawl now, eat table food, and even bathe with the big kids. Lorelei is doing her best to help him achieve his goals. We had doughnuts after dinner today and Lorelei gave a large piece of hers to Christian. I think she was worried we were neglecting him (I hadn't planned on letting my 9 month old eat doughnuts yet).

Lorelei really is a handful. Just at dinner alone tonight she got out of her chair 12 times, climbed onto the table 3 times and even lied down on the table before we could get her off. I bought 10 tomatoes at the store today and when no one was looking she took a large bite out of 8.

This week she has scribbled over Christian's head twice, all over her sheets, Joseph's sheets, the floor and light switches.

It's been over a month since Lorelei hasn't made it up to the pulpit in Sacrament Meeting. One week she made it up there 3 times. - In my defense let me tell you, she is really really fast.

Happy Birthday

Happy birthday Derek! I can't decide whether I'm shocked he's 4 already or simply surprised that he's only 4. Either way, he is super cute and had a great birthday. He was excited about his presents which included a scooter, a garbage truck (he's been saying for months that he's going to grow up to be a dentist and a garbage man), a dragon book, some money, and of course a new zelda game.

Before it was time to open presents, I heard the boys discussing who was going to open the presents. They agreed that they would open them together. In one of my videos Lorelei is even helping unwrap one with them. It makes me happy to see them share with each other. I did stop Joseph from blowing out Derek's candles lol. I guess I can see why people ask me if the boys are twins- they often act like it.

Derek asked me for a strawberry cake, so naturally I made a vanilla cake with red food coloring added. I promised myself and Frank that I would watch my daughter carefully while the cake cooled on the counter. At some point in the afternoon Joseph came in crying from a bleeding wound by his eye. I took him to the bathroom to clean it up and came out to find that Lorelei had struck yet again. I showed the cake to Derek and thankfully he didn't seem to care. Maybe Derek is just super nice, or maybe he's smarter than me and accepts incidents like these to be inevitable. .......... yep, most definitely smarter than me.

And here's a picture of my present that finally came :)

Alright Mother- a picture with all four kids. I was able to get her pacifier out (she looks thrilled about it doesn't she?) but couldn't get Derek's yaya (blanket).

Quick synopsis of my life to my devout readers:

Frank turned 30 in May and got a new computer so that he and I can play world of warcraft together.

I turned 26 in June and got a new tv for my birthday.
Frank and I both got lasik in June as a present from Pres. Obama for buying a new house. We are so pleased with the results and still periodically try to take on or off our glasses.

Derek's birthday is this week.
That's pretty much it. Our life is pretty great and simple.

edited to add a photo for Kate. Here's a picture Joseph took of me today- sans glasses.

Legend of the Seeker

So yes I'm blogging about a TV show. Frank and I really enjoyed this fantasy show. It's loosely based off of Terry Goodkind's Wizard's first rule. Only, I think it's way better than the books.

If you like fantasy, give this a try. You can watch all of season 1 on hulu

here is a 10 min preview

My Mom, Dad, and sister Natasha came out for a visit. It was wonderful to have them here. Frank and I were able to go on our first date in a year. We drove up to Raleigh and ate at P.F. Chang which was soo tasty. On Saturday We drove to Wilmington, NC and went to the aquarium and then the beach. The water was a good temperature so we all got wet helping the kids from getting knocked over in the waves. Then the boys built a sandcastle, and by boys I mean even the big boys.

Monday we embarked on a crazy journey of trying to fix all the projects my house needed. My parents and sister worked their tails off because they are super nice and since my husband and I are seriously deficient in the fix-it gene. We got it all done with just enough time for them to crash into bed to wake up at the crack of dawn to catch their plane home...... to go work on the projects in their own homes. I hope they all know how much I appreciate their visit and as Frank puts it, their slave labor.

Here's a few pictures of our Day trip to Wilmington...... and by the way it really does take 5 adults to watch 4 kids at the beach.

Happy Birthday

Joseph turned 5 today. He is such a joy to have, very sensitive and loving. He got his skittles from his grandma today and ate a few and then passed them on. I saw Derek chowing down on them and told Derek he needed to save them for Joseph. Joseph calmly said, "Mom, I already had some." So we all ate Joseph's birthday candy as a family. Derek helped him open his presents and blow out his candles. I guess I can see why so many people ask me if they are twins; they don't look that much alike but they are the very best of friends.

A month ago we went up to Frank's brother's house. While there visiting cousins, Joseph fell in love with a toy I very briefly saw. The whole trip home, Joseph talked about wanting a dinosaur castle for his birthday (whatever that is). I ignored it for the most part until a week later I was looking at bikes on the internet for his b-day. I didn't click off the pages fast enough and so Joseph asked me why I was looking at bikes. Not one for surprises I said for his birthday. In dismay he dejectedly said, "Mom, I don't want a bike for my birthday. I want a dinosaur castle." Needless to say, I called Jennie up on the phone and asked her about the toy. Of course stores don't sell it anymore, but thankfully there's always e-bay. Joseph got his dinosaur castle and is super happy about it.

Lorelei is a terror. I looked away for 2 minutes and she had done this to Joseph's cake. I yelled and then laughed and laughed some more.

Here's what we turned it into (a dinosaur castle birthday cake)
