Because they know how to have fun....

Merry Christmas from my redneck heart to yours! We were too lame to put up a tree this year but I'm sure we had enough cans to do one like this :)

I hope everyone has a happy and safe Christmas and New Years!

Christmas Eve Activities!

What could be more fun on Christmas Eve than an early morning visit to the ER?! I got an early wake-up call this morning when the shower curtain and rod went crashing down at 5:00 AM. I got up to find poor Clint in the bathtub covered in blood! Apparently he went in to use the bathroom and blacked out, falling backward and landing in the tub. Of course he managed to split his head open in the process. Man he will do anything to get out of a family function! ;)

He made it 33 years before his first set of stitches...and he got breakfast at Mickey D's for being such a brave little buddy! And I probably won't take back his presents to offset the $100 co-pay :)

Girls' Night!

Katie, Megan, and I have started a Christmas tradition for our gift exchange and fun. First we go to Tepanyaki and eat too much. Then we complain about it and say we couldn't possibly eat anything else. Approximately 5 minutes later we are all seated at Cold Stone with our delightful ice cream! We lucked out and went early enough this year that we also had time for a movie (but we did manage to skip the popcorn). It was the best date I've had in a long time, no one even tried to feel me up!

Megan was less than cooperative during picture time, but Katie looks pretty!

We like to hang around outside public restrooms.

I decided to go homemade this year for their Christmas gifts and started working on their presents with my mom about a month before...the first one took for freakin' ever, but we got into a groove and got 'em both done. I hope they like them because there are no returns or exchanges!

This picture

Took a ridiculous amount of time with my mom halfway down the stairs and me dangling things over her head to get them both to look at the same time. We would make horrible pet photographers...

So...

Yeah this isn't even my kid and yet he's the only one I managed to take any pictures of at the family Christmas party. He's just. that. cute. Clearly I need to give this baby hog pictured below some grandkids he can hold...apparently puppies don't count :)

It's a boy!

But not for me! I am so happy for my cousin Trent and his wife Rikki and their brand new baby boy, Tiegan. He is beautiful and sweet and I love him already! I will try not to baby hog him next time (but no promises!) Congrats you two!

Caffeine to the rescue...

I am (self-admitted) very whiny this week. I was both whiny and feeling blah last night when my cute husband brought me in a Ghiradelli dark chocolate mint and a fresh cold Diet Mountain Dew. If that's not love I don't know what is!

Turkey Day!

I am thankful for so many things this year so I will spare you the long list and only give you the really important ones...

  • Tivo
  • A great parking spot at work
  • Cheese (as if I could skip this one!)
Hope everyone enjoyed their day as much as I did!

Clint and Russell

Aww, we are cute :)

P.S. Are my pictures all jacked up above? I'm seeing them not centered but I'm not sure if it's just my computer or not...help a sista out!

I appreciate....

Everyone who hated Twilight and didn't hesitate to blog about it. Thanks to my super low expectations for this movie I really enjoyed it! I wish I could say so much for the new 007....was there even a story in there??

Twilight Fans!

I have a new read for you! Okay so it's not NEW new, but if you haven't read this series I think you should! Since I am basically 14 inside my brain this is another young adult series (3 books I think) but they are a much quicker read.

Did you vote today??

Well I haven't had time to blog about my thoughts regarding this year's presidential election (my conservative Republican friends can thank me for that!). I'm sure it isn't a surprise to anyone who knows me who got my vote this year. For the first time since I've been old enough to care there is a candidate who represents to me a glimmer of hope and a chance that things can change....even for those pesky middle class folks who have been ignored for the last 8 years. Hopefully everyone got a chance to get out there and have your voice heard...even in states where your electoral votes are solidly against you (ha) I feel it is so important to cast my vote in respect to those who fought for me to have it. And now I must go take a nap so I can stay up late to watch the results :) Happy Voting!

November already?!

So I haven't updated in a while! Here's what we've been up to:

October 14 was Clint's 33rd birthday! We had a mellow dinner with my fam at our favorite Mexican dive (El Rancho Grande! Yum!) I am a lame wife and didn't take any pictures, but Happy Birthday babe!

A couple of weeks later was the family Halloween party and I'm happy to report that no political fights broke out (mostly because I kept my trap shut ;) )

Then it was my birthday! My fabulous friends took me for a zero calorie lunch at Red Robin (again no pictures) and then we met my parents for dinner at Johnny Carino's before heading back to their house for homemade chocolate cake. We took some pictures there!

Clint was on some sort of sugar high....

Clint decided it would be a good idea to stalk the cat...

She was not impressed :(

I bet my parents are super excited to be stuck with my crazy hubby for 11 days in Hawaii next summer!

For Halloween we avoided all the neighborhood kids, dropped the dogs off at grandma's, and headed to Wendover to see Carlos Mencia. He was so good! I don't know the last time I have laughed that hard. I would highly recommend seeing him live (unless you have your head up your ass and can't appreciate some good politically incorrect humor!)

Body Worlds

Clint and I met up with my family for a visit to Body Worlds 3 at The Leonardo. It was awesome and I highly recommend you see it before it's gone! You can get more info here. I'm not sure if there is a better time to go...we thought we'd be safe on a Sunday morning but it was packed and full of slow movers who got the optional audio guide. I swear it had specific instructions to move at a glacial pace in order to piss off everyone behind you. It was still very much worth the time!

New Fall Colors!

On my head, not on the trees. I acknowledge this is a lame-o self portrait but let's face it, the day I get my hair done is the only day it will *be* done until next time. I also got the adorable shirt from my Randy, thanks love!

And they said it wouldn't last....

Becca and I have been best friends since we were 1 year old and even spent a year together as roommates at USU (go Aggies!). My mom was worried we wouldn't be able to remain friends after living together but I'm happy to report I still love her to bits and I'm excited for her to move back to Utah! Becca's oldest brother Mike got married this week so thanks for giving us an excuse to get together! P.S. Don't mind Danny cheesing it in the background. That's just Danny for ya!

A good husband...

Only this time it isn't mine! Katie's husband Doug gave her an awesome 35th birthday surprise and sent Katie, Megan, and me to Park City for an overnight girls' trip! He reserved us a room and Katie was totally surprised and excited! Thanks Doug for a fabulous weekend for all of us!

We arrived to pick Katie up and she peeked out the door and slammed it in our face. This is her reaction when Doug told her to go pack her bag!

After lunch at MacCool's (yummy lasagna by the way!) we headed up to Park City to check into our hotel and Megan brought sexy back.

This lady lured is into her salon but they didn't have enough appointments to do our toes....

So we went here and took a nap!

Jackson the "service dog" was tired too. His (crazy) owner claimed he was a service dog but he didn't do anything for her and in fact seemed to be the boss. He was damn cute though!

After our toes were beautified we went to the outlets to spend our hard earned cash on things we couldn't possibly need. Needless to say this was a blast! The next logical step after shopping was wine and cheese at the Bracchus Wine Bar. How can you not love a place that thrives on wine and cheese?! We had a delicious dinner at 350 Main after appetizers at Bracchus and like the true party animals we are, we dragged our sorry selves back down the hill and went to bed early.

The next day it was back to the outlets and your eyes do not deceive you...we each bought a new Coach bag. And two of the three of us thought about returning them. And then all three of us kept them. And I love mine (Megan you can't have it!)

To my beautiful, funny, mostly-crazy friend Katie...I hope you had a wonderful birthday! You are more work than anyone I know but I am so blessed to have you as one of my BFFs. And I don't even need a TV show like Paris, you're *that* good.

Woof!

The county dog park in West Jordan is finally (unofficially) open and our fur babies have been loving it! The new park is only about a ten minute drive from our house and much bigger. Thank you county taxpayers! :)

Of course half the fun is the car ride over. What puppy doesn't love a car ride?!

An unfortunate necessity...poopy pick up!

It's what *fun* is!

We took a free trip to Lagoon with tickets from Kennecott (thanks Dad!) and aside from a few downpours we had a lovely time! Clint and I met up with Russell and a friend and after going on three crazy rides (Samurai, Wicked, and The Spider) we decided we are way too old and weak for that shit. We left Russ and Alex to the fun rides and headed on up to Pioneer Village. Then the day really became fun! We rode the log ride, did Rattlesnake Rapids twice (and got totally soaked) and even took the train ride meant for toddlers. We are clearly not very exciting anymore but we had a great day at Lagoon! :)

Killing time while hiding from the rain...
