It's been that long, really?!

I can't believe I haven't written anything since March.  WOW, time has flown by so fast and so many new things are happening now.

The Utah Half was not my best run by far.  It was hard and way more up hill than they said it would be.  I'm sure if I had trained the way I wanted to it would have gone better than it did.  Realizing that I've had a few set backs during the training of this run was hard to accept, but it is what it is.  Then there was the fact that I was in the early stages of pregnancy and cramping quite a bit so I had to walk the majority of the run.  My partner in crime was great and very supportive, although next time we run together it won't be so much like just a stroll in the park.

The kids have kept me busy all summer.  We have been down South more than I have wanted to be and am VERY happy to be taking a break from driving that way.  Both Kaily and Conner did great with their swimming lessons and advanced like pros to the next level.  That took up most of June and then there was a crazy month called July where I think we were home for maybe a total of 5 whole days.  I was happy it came and went.  August has been a bit less busy than July was, for which I am grateful.  Kaily started school on Monday and Clint will start next Tuesday.  Conner will go to Preschool after Labor Day and then it will be just Corbin and I at home most of the time.

I'm going to the gym every now and then and trying to get back into going everyday.  Being a mom of 3 very busy kids makes it difficult sometimes to get there, but I am trying.  Labor Day weekend Clint and I are doing a triathlon.  He is doing the whole thing, where as I am dong only a part of one.  I have teamed up with my SIL and MIL to do it.  I'm a bit nervous as I haven't trained for this at all really, at least not for a couple months.  I'll do it though, and I'll hurt and be really sore, but ultimately, I'll just be happy that I did it and so proud of Clint.

Well, there you have it.  That's what's been going on around here.  Hope you all had a great summer!

March goals

On my family blog I updated some family goals we had set for March and I wanted to add some personal goals for March here.
  • Go to the gym 5x a week
  • Run 3x a week, at least 3.1 miles
  • log food everyday
  • Do at least 1 load of laundry a day
  • Do at least 1 load of dishes a day
  • read with kids
  • go far a walk on the days it's nice enough to
There ya go, some simple lifestyle goals to strive for this month. The idea is to change my lifestyle and improve my family at the same time.

AHHH

It was hard to get up this morning at 4:45 and it was equally hard to get to the gym, but I did both and survived and I'll go back again.  I didn't make it at the time I wanted to; I'll have to go back to get my cardio in later this morning, but I'm happy to be back at the gym.  I went on Saturday morning and that was nice too.  I haven't lost much weight in that last month, but I feel like I've lost a lot of inches through my waist and belly.  Also, I can see a difference in my face.  I talked to Ashley about it and she said not to stress about the weight because I've gained a lot of muscle so my body is trying to balance it all out.  I know that I have gotten stronger because today while I was on a certain machine doing the exact routine I did a month a go my heart rate never went over 145 and it used to go up to 160.  It was easier to do the exact same workout as I did a month ago too.  My abs are getting stronger and I feel like I have more energy than I did a month ago.  So even though I haven't frequented the gym as much as I wanted I haven't gained any weight and I haven't lost any either, but I have lost inches and I have gotten stronger.

It's Been A While

Sick kids and a new schedule for Clint has made it hard to get to the gm like I should.  However, I have managed not to gain weight and even loose, a little.  This is due to portion control and trying to be aware of what I put in my mouth.  Even though it's been hard, not having chocolate and other "goodies" around the house has been very helpful in those stressful moments when I used to binge eat all the crap in my house before I realized what I had done.  Now, I eat a piece of fruit, which is way more filling and it gives me the sugar I want.  It's not always what I really WANT, but it's enough to curve the appetite of what I want with what I need.

I'm headed back to the gym this week with a new, revamped, schedule.
