Some fun news...and some bad

Its been a little while since my last post. We have been busy with family! For Thanksgiving we went to California to spend time with Kenny's family. Between Magic Mountain, going to Venice Beach, and just cruising the streets we had a blast! I highly recommend Venice Beach for anyone going to Cali on vacation. Not only do you get to see a bunch of wackos but you get some great deals on very unique artwork and clothes. Magic Mountain was really fun too although I was only able to go on 3 rollercoasters cause of dang motion sickness. I hate it! Anyways, the rollercoaster pictured below is of the Coaster called The Riddler. Its definately a screamer! It takes you on some wild loops while you are standing up! Definately a different sensation than you get on your average sit down rollercoaster. But that was not my favorite rollercoaster. My favorite is call Tatsu! This is one where the chair lifts you on your tummy so you feel like your flying! Man oh man was that an adrenaline rush! It takes you way above the trees and drops you and loops you and everything else you can imagine!

Ok so I told you I had some bad news to all of this excitement...The morning after Thanksgiving I got the phone call I had been dreading for a looooong time. My Grandpa Gull had passed away. I was really sad I couldn't be there with my family to mourn with them and help confort my parents. My Grandpa was a great man. And I wish that someday I can be as great of a person as he was. Although he was very stubborn I don't think that man had a selfish bone in his body. I consider myself very lucky to have such great grandparents....and parents! I will miss my grandpa very much. And now find joy in knowing he has reunited with the love of his life and that he is still here with us in spirit. I am forever in debt to them for giving me such a wonderful family.

I love you Grandpa!

Oh yeah and This is Christina Aguilara's house. Formerly known as Ossy Osbourne's house.

Lucky Me

Look at what I won! A few weeks ago I heard that the Planet 94.1 and Blackridge were having a drawing to give away a furniture set so Kenny and I entered our names into it. On Friday I got a message on my phone saying my name was drawn and I was eligible to win it. I didn't really understand what that meant, but he also said everyone would win a prize. Since that was the case I was totally gonna go even though I was pretty sure I wouldn't get lucky enough to win the grand prize. So I checked in yesterday afternoon at Blackridge and was told that everyone that's eligible is gonna be playing a game. That made me a little nervous so I dragged my little sister and my husband with me for some moral support :) Alright, so the deal was. They would call out everyone's name one at a time and we had to go to a car with a balloon on it and stand by it. Once everyone was standing by a car they counted down from 3 to 0. We got to open the car and inside the glove box was a envelope that would reveal what we had won. Suprise, suprise I didn't win the awesome furniture set...wasn't even close to it! But the great news was I didn't win a lowsy T-shirt either, which is what a lot of people walked away with. Instead I won 3 cute baskets and a spray bottle of shout. Coincidentally the day before all this happened I had been talking to someone about buying some shout. Now I don't have to!

Yeehaw!

Last Saturday I got to do a little of advertising for St. George Ford. My coworker and I got a few other girls together and put this pretty baby blue Ford Flex in the Rodeo parade. We were number 95 in the parade. Who would have thought a parade in St. George could get so big? Well it did, and we had to wait in our line for an hour before we moved anywhere! Boring! But once we got going it was soooo much fun. There were so many people and it seemed the kids doubled the amount of how many adults were there. We bought 6 big bags of candy to throw out and we ran out about halfway through! We had a blast and the Flex is a super nice ride. Very comfy.

That same night Kenny and I went to the actual rodeo. We got there a little late though so we ended up seatless. I don't really understand why they would sale more tickets than there are seats, but oh well. I guess people love rodeo's that much they would be willing to stand for hours. Me on the other hand am not a huge fan of rodeos, but seeing as Kenny got free tickets from his work. I thought it would be fun for us to get out for once. The only part I do like about rodeo's is the barrel racing and the clowns can be pretty funny. Other than that I always end up feeling bad for the animals getting tied up and wrestled to the ground. This year they did have some pretty cool entertainment. The Frisbey dogs! Its one guy and about 6 or so dogs that do tricks and catch frisbees. One dog was a grey hound and he demostrated how fast the breed is. It was outrageous. They can run like 35 mph!!
Even though I don't care for rodeo's too much we still had a great time!

Doggy update and a Happy Birthday!

I am extremely sad to say that Kenny and I decided that our home was not the right home for Zeke(the dog we were fostering). We just can't give him the attention and backyard we think he deserves. Unfortunately, this dog had gone through something really traumatizing and needs someone who can give him their full attention. This was probably one of the hardest things Kenny and I have gone through in our marriage so far. Even though we only had him for 3 days I kind of felt like I was giving a child up for adoption. We grew to love him that much and he is such a GOOD dog! One of the ladies at the shelter told me they really like Zeke and would never let anything bad happen to him. He is a great dog so I trust that they will help him find a perfect home....

Now on a brighter note. Kenny's birthday was one Sunday Sept. 14 he turned 22. A good family friend of his and his sister traveled down from California for his birthday weekened. We did a lot of guitar hero and just hanging out. It was a lot of fun and it made Kenny's birthday more special for him :)

Foster Doggy!

The other night Kenny and I were watching the tv show Dogtown. It's on the National Geographic channel and it's based in an animal shelter in Kanab Utah called Best Friends. This shelter volunteered to take at least 20 of the Michael Vic dogs. If you don't know who that is. I believe he is a football player but now he is spending time in jail for dog fighting. All the details and the images shown just made us sick and so sad. How could anybody treat an animal that way? Anyways that show kind of inspired us to adopt a dog. Pretty crazy for us since even before we started dating we both agreed on absolutely NO PETS! Never ever! Look at us now not even a year after we're married and we got one :D The images above are the dog that we decided to take home. Right now we are just fostering him to make sure he will fit in well at our townhome. So far so good! He is sooo calm and mellow! Completely against the sterotypte of a pit bull, which is what breed he is. The animal control officers think he is part pit and part boxer. Someone in Kayenta found him and called so he could be rescued. They aren't quite sure what happened to him. They are guessing he might have got hit by a car. He has a few stitches on his head and near his front legs. He's only been with us a day and we haven't figured out what to name him yet. The shelter calls him Zeke. But we don't really care for that name much. If anybody has any suggestions let me know!

Gone Fishin

Kenny and I went fishing with my dad last weekend. It was Kenny's first time fishing. I have to admit I was pretty nervous about how he would like it. I didn't think he would have much patience for it. Boy did he suprise me. Honestly, he has more patience for it than I do. My excuse for that would be because he caught 14 fish compared to my uhhhh....ZERO! Beginners luck I tell ya. Then again I've only caught one fish my whole entire life, so there goes that theory. What makes the whole thing even more funnier is he didn't even start catching anything til I started heading back to the car for our lunch. By the time I got back with the lunches he had caught 7 fish. I suppose fish just don't like me. That's ok though because I don't like them either. YUCK!

My Heart <3

I forgot in my last post to take a picture of this heart that Kenny carved for me while we were camping at our family reunion. Isn't it the cutest? Something so simple, it only took him like ten minutes to do. And yet if I can find a safe place for it it will be something that can be a memory for a long time. I never knew Kenny could be so creative and romantic like that.

Gull Family Reunion

This year's Gull Family Reunion was Kenny's first. It was fun for everyone to meet him. He got to see how crazy and fun our family can be. My favorite part of it all would have to be the water fight. Which is kind of ending up being a family tradition for the reunions. It never fails, one always gets started. But this year my grandpa ended up in the middle of all the action. Just chilling there in his Jazzy while everyone around him is chucking waterballoons and containers of water. He didn't seem to mind it, he could have moved if he wanted to. It was pretty hilarious and fun to see everyone having a great time together.

Twilight!

The first Twilight movie comes out December 12! This book is a must have. A lot of people are saying it is the next Harry Potter. Me personally...I put off finishing the last Harry Potter book so I could read Twilight. I am super excited for the movie to come out. Woohoo!

Independence Day

It's only been about a month since I've last blogged :) Sorry I'm boring guys. I suppose that is what married life can do to a person. Anwyays, I actually have something worth talking about. On the Fourth of July some of my family got together at my house for dinner and fireworks. It was pretty fun. The food was yummy (I am getting better at the cooking thing). We mostly just hung out played guitar hero and watched one of my favorite TV shows Dirty Jobs. The host, Mike Row, is one of the many tv show boyfriends I have. Ok, back to the fireworks. I live pretty close to the Temple so the view, as seen in the above photo, is awesome! Although the fireworks display the city put on this year was kind of lame. After like 10 minutes of fireworks the grand finale came and then I was left there to wonder what happend to the rest. Oh well, it was still a great time enjoying the company of my family at mine and kenny's home. Hope you all had a great 4th as well.

Weekend Project

This is mine and Kenny's weekend project. It was originally supposed to be my project, but Kenny had a little too much fun helping me. He is a jack of all trades! It adds more sentimental value to it too. When we have our first child we can tell he/she that we made the blanket together. And no, I am not pregnant. Hopefully that won't happen for a few more years.

Leo Carillo continued...

Alright everyone I was having issues trying to get that slideshow posted and in the process it erased all my wonderful stories I had typed up TWICE! So I am sorry I am sick of typing it all so my stories aren't going to be as elaborate as they were. Kenny and I went to Leo Carillo, CA last weekend and spent time camping with some family and friends. Leo Carillo is pretty much in Malibu. Ya know, where all the famous people live. Although, I didn't get to see any of them. Just their beautiful houses. Camping by the beach is the most fun camping of all. Being able to walk to the beach whenever you want is cool. Even though we only went like once a day (we were there for 3 1/2). The water was way cold. We did get to see a bunch of different animals. A rattle snake, deer, hermit crabs, sand crabs, some kind of colorful crabs, starfish, dolphins, and a shark! And of course there were the really annoying squirrels and birds everywhere around our camp. We were also camped near the famous Neptune's Net. Its in a bunch of films like Fast and Furious. That means Paul Walker has been there (woo woo). Its also in the new Miller Lite commercial.

Breadstick Recipe

Melenie asked me for this recipe a little while ago so I will just post it on here and share it with all of you. Everyone who has tried these breadsticks fall in love with them. They are sooo good!

Ingrediants: 4 cups hot water
3 tsp. salt
3 yeast packets or 3 Tbl. yeast
1/3 cup sugar
8-10 cups flour
I ususally end up using 3 or 4 cubes of margarine or butter
For the seasoning you will need: garlic salt, paprika, and parmesan cheese.
Put the 4 cups hot water in a large mixing bowl then stir in the yeast. Let the yeast sit for a few minutes. Then mix in the salt and sugar. Gradually add in a cup of flour at a time until the dough is a little sticky but not too sticky. After you let the dough rise for 30 minutes roll it out and cut it into strips about 1 or 2 inches wide. I like to twist the strips and pinch the ends. Then get a casserole dish or something that you can melt butter in and soak the breadsticks in. After they soak for a few minutes put them on a pan and sprinkle garlic salt, paprika, and parmesan cheese. Then I let them rise on the pan for a few more mintues. Preheat the oven to 400 degrees and bake them for 15 minutes. When they are done baking I use a pastery brush to put on some more of the melted butter.

Zions

On Saturday April 12 Sherri and I hike Angels Landing in Zions. It was a blast. I had only tried to do the hike one time before with Jenny and Missy. We stopped to rest halfway up and started talking then we realized it was getting dark so we had to head back down the mountain. I am pretty proud of myself for making it all the way up this time. I used to be in good shape playing volleyball in highschool. But that was geez....5 years ago...wow. Angels landing is 2.5 miles one way ALL up hill! I'm sure a lot of you have done this hike before, so maybe I'm just a wimp. I don't know. The first look out point (pictured above) I started to get nauseas and dizzy. Most of this hike is on a path right next to cliffs, so this is not a good hike to get dizzy on. I told sherry I was just gonna stop there and wait for her. I had sat there for a few minutes then two 80 year old guys passed me up! I decided if they could do it then I could do it! So I did it. And boy was the view at the end worth it!

By the way everyone. Today is my birthday! I turn 22. I talked to my dad this morning and he tried telling me I was 24. He probably doesn't even know how old he is. How Funny. I guess the family is gonna get together for dinner tonight. Kenny gave a present like a week or two ago. I kept complaining to him about my phone so one day he came to my work and stole my phone then came back with the new blackberry phone for me. Its cute and Pink.

Hope everybody has a fabulous day!

Am I crazy...

This is Kenny's new '08 Yamaha R6. I'm still debating on if I'm crazy or not for letting him get it. What is even more crazy is Kenny hates Yellow and he hates flames! However, he LOVES this bike! It's a cool bike. I do like it...for the most part. It gives kenny a hobby and he's passionate about it. Not to mention it saves a lot on gas during spring and summer. I am such a worry wart though, that's the bad part about it all. By the way, we still have his '99 Yamaha R6. We're gonna sale it so if any of you know someone intrested we're asking $3500.00.

Enough about the bike I have a story. Kenny drove my car to work on Monday (I drive an '02 Honda Accord). He called me and asked me what the big gash was on my back bumper. I'm not very good at parking and backing out vehicles so he thought I might have hit something. But nope, I didn't. He later found out that someone from an outside company came to do a job at his work and back a truck into my car! They weren't honest about it, but Kenny put two and two together and now they say they will pay for it but they won't pay over $150. They tried to tell us where to get it fixed but Kenny said, "No you're not gonna pick who fixes my car. I will pick who fixes my car and I'll give you the invoice." Well we got the car quoted by Kenny's friend who does painting. He said there's no way its gonna get fixed for under $150 its gonna cost at least $200. Not good...That's where we are with this now. It will be interesting what happens. They better pay up. I mean my car was parked. We are at no fault.

Another Day

Kenny and I haven't really been able to get out much and have fun. A lot of you know how its like to be a newleywed. Too many bills your not used to having you don't know what to do with yourself. Its a hard adjustment, but we are getting there. So mostly we just hang out at home and enjoy each other presence. The last couple of weekends we've been able to get out and have some fun. Last weekend we went on a motorcycle ride to Zion's National Park with a couple of friends. It was a lot of fun. The weather was perfect! Although we weren't expecting to see snow when we got to the mountain, it was beautiful. We also got to eat at one of the restaurants there. I would definately drive there just to eat their grilled cheese sandwich and french fries again!

The week before last weekend we went bowling in Mesquite with the same friends we went to Zion's with. It's always fun to go and see all the crazy people there. After we went bowling we ate at Mcdonalds. After ordering I filled my cup with soda and then I couldn't figure out which lid went with it. One of the workers helped me and started telling me how he has a really hard time with it too...that went on for a few minutes. Who knew someone could carry on a conversations about lid sizes. Then somehow that conversation led to the guy telling me how drunks go into Mcdonalds all the time. Then that one led to him telling me how his dad is a cop and he hasn't seen him for five years and if he did see his dad then his dad would beat him....ahhh! Ok, then Kenny came and saved me. The moral of that story is...Don't ever make eye contact with weird people in Mesquite.
