Day 5 - "Almost Broken"

"Almost Broken"
Today on the trampoline Landon crashed head and nose with a friend and came running in the house (screaming and wailing, as our dramatic boy does well) with a very bloody nose.  When Kenny yelled for me to come and said it could be broken - I knew it may just be our first trip of the year to the ER (we have bets on when that will happen).  No ER was needed though, just a bruised up little boy with a headache.

Day 4 - "Learning to Pray"

"Learning to Pray"
While we try to teach our children about life, our children teach us what life is all about.

Paige has recently started to say prayers and hearing them come out of her little mouth with her sweet voice melts my heart.

Day 3 - "Out of Air"

"Out of Air"
Ken dropped us off at Costco to do the shopping, while he made a not-so-quick run to the tire place to fix a tire with a slow leak (discovered the culprit was a nail AND a screw).  We shopped, checked out, ate lunch, roamed again and again...and finally settled on a sectional until he arrived.  (Costco, by the way, is a great place to hang out... full of comfy furniture...yummy samples and big screen TVs!)

Day 2 - "Pinned a Fresh Scent"

"Pinned a Fresh Scent"
Ahh....How I LOVE Pinterest! A few weeks ago I "Pinned" a homemade laundry soap recipe with hopes that I may actually make it someday.  Today was that day!  With four little people in our home we do a lot of laundry and it is usually...very dirty, stinky laundry.  This stuff is supposed to do the trick with only 2 Tablespoons per load - "haha....right," I thought.  Cheznee enjoyed the process of dumping all the ingredients together and smelling the "fresh scent."

So far we have been using this stuff only 2 Tbsp at a time and I am surprised at how wonderful it is... I LOVE IT!  Tide has been my go-to soap for years, but this does a much better job and it is a ton cheaper - and I added a couple bottles of the Downy Unstopables fabric softener granules so it includes the fabric softener.  It cost me less than $30 to make enough soap to last us months and my laundry smells fresh!

You can try it for yourself here.

Day 1 - "All Sorts of Fun"

"All Sorts of Fun"
This is what we did today, took a bin full of a gazillion Legos and sorted them by color.  It was a full family effort and WE DID IT!  It took 5 hours and was not as horrible as we thought it would be.  The boys were so excited to find parts, pieces and people they thought were lost at the bottom of the pile.  Seeing everyone pitch in and work together was very rewarding for us parents to witness.

I plan to tackle my boys room this month. They have great bedding and furiniture, but I hope to get it painted and tackle the Legos that are taking over!  Can you tell we LOVE Legos? I came across this plan on Pinterest for and tweaked it to fit the boys needs and space.  We have the bins and space for building already in place - YAY! The boys really like to keep their special "pieces" on display (EVERYWERE - UGH!) so we bought some shelving just for them and hope to hang them soon.  I can't wait to see it all finished!

2012

Welcome 2012!
Like most people on the first day of the new year I am excited for the fresh start!
This year I do have some "goals" in mind for myself as well as a list of things to tackle. I don't know if I will be 100%, but I will be trying to do my VERY BEST!

1. Take more pictures and record more memories.
I am going to take at least one photo per day in 2012 in a direct effort to record our daily lives as they are and the memories we are making.  This past year I noticed I took very few pictures and although it means I must have been "busy enjoying the moments" I do miss not having the photos to look back on. I hope to post them here each day on our blog.

2. Read.
I am going to make time to read (something other than Dr. Seuss and Pinkalicious!). I have a few titles in mind and I am excited!  One thing I plan to do is read the Book of Mormon in its entirety this year as well.

3. Get my house organized and decorated.
Each month I am going to pick a room and tackle it - top to bottom.

4. Play more.
Going to slow down and play Barbies with Chez, Legos with Colton, House with Paige and do some MAD science experiments with Landon!

That's it folks!  Pretty simple I think...
