Quentin’s Mandalorian helmet

Tonight Quentin finished the helmet. He’s been working on almost since his birthday. He put a lot of hours into it, and it turned out, so awesome! I  admire the patience he puts into his projects.

Gateway Park

Tonight we went to the new tubbi park in town. A realtor paid for the night for a client, etc. It was a lot of fun and we got going really fast when we went in a big train together! Afterwards we went to Baskin Robbins and used a gift card Kester treated us to.

The Master Baker

On Sundays I try to do an object lesson or activity as part of our nightly scriptures.Last night I based the lesson off of the intro to Come Follow Me this week. Lehi's family was promised they would be nourished and strengthened in the wilderness and eventually reach their goal of the promised land, but there was still hunger, death, hardship, broken bows, and contention along the way. I held up a cookie and asked if everyone if they liked cookies. The answer was obvious. I told them the cookie was kind of like eternal life. I then got out plastic spoons and called up each of them one a time to have them taste one of the ingredients of cookies. Salt, flour, baking soda, baking powder, cocoa, vanilla… Etc.. None of them were tasty..... that is except for the sugar. And yet as we go throughout life our Heavenly Father, as the Master Baker, takes all of those hard experiences mixes them with sweet ones and is able to make something very good despite all the yucky things. And actually, the yucky things are necessary for a good cookie. We might might not understand that bitter tasting baking soda makes the cookies rise and be better… But the Master Baker does. As much as we would just love to have sweet experience after sweet experience in the end a bowl with just sugar in it doesn't bake up to be a very good cookie.

It gave me a lot to think about afterwards. God is good and there is a lot I don’t understand about this life, but I trust that He does.

Emily's Soda Springs meet & Kaylie's 1st RM Date

Today Emily had a x country meet in Soda Springs.  Kaylie drove down with me to cheer her on and so we could all go to lunch afterwards to celebrate Kaylie's test and Emily's meet.

This was her first time running Varsity.  The top 8 girls are the Varsity team, but only the top 7 run it.  She was #7 so she got to run.  She did awesome, but had a hard race and a minute where she struggled to breath so she stopped for a bit.  She finished strong at 26:13.

Afterwards we stopped at Freddy's in Pocatello and had a yummy lunch before heading the rest of the way home.

Tonight Kaylie had her 1st date with an RM.  How weird is that???  She had a lot of fun learning how to long board along the Green Belt and then going out to dinner.
