Can you say growth spurt?

So Lego Boy is apparently going through a growth spurt. Friday night we went to meet Brad's parents for dinner at Applebees. As we were driving into the parking lot Lego Boy says "I want a steak!" We of course were like What???? This kid has never tried steak, doesn't like to try new things, and doesn't even like HAMBURGERS! But he insisted he wanted steak so Brad ordered him a 7oz sirloin and told him he didn't have to eat the whole thing since it was a big steak. Big for the little guy at least. So he starts eating the steak and really likes it. He then continues to eat the WHOLE steak, most of his vegitables, and the croutons off of Brad's mom's salad. I've never seen that kid eat that much! Then as we were leaving the restaraunt he said "I'm still hungry I want another Steak." Seriously! We couldn't stop laughing. Then on Saturday I made a cheesy chicken broccolli bake, he usually doesn't like cooked broccolli, and some garlic aspargus. I thought for sure the aspargus was going to be a battle but he ate all his chicken and broccolli and proceeded to eat more asparagus then either of us. I can still remember when he was three and refused to try any new foods. Now it seems he'll try everything at least once. I'm liking this change. :)

I can't believe it!

So Brad and I went to see The Watchmen tonight. Honestly I think it should have been rated NC-17. We mostly enjoyed the movie, Brad more than me since he's actually read the comics, but there was a lot of stuff I wouldn't want to watch with my parents sitting next to me, know what I mean??

So here is what I can't believe. The people at the theater that had their CHILDREN there with them. We're not talking adult children, we're not talking teenagers, we're not even talking about pre-teens we're talking about children as young as 5! I was appalled! We saw some people coming in with young kids before the movie began and my first thought was "OH MY GOSH THEY BROGHT THEIR KIDS TO SEE THIS BLOOD BATH!!! IT'S RATED R!" That was before the movie even started. The thing that made me most uncomfortable watching the movie was the fact that there were parents in the audience allowing, worse yet, encouraging their kids to watch it. As we left the theater I noticed that there were a lot more kids in the movie theater, I'm not even talking teenagers, than I had thought. It was disheartening.

I told Brad afterward that sitting in that theater I was so uncomfortable knowing that these kids were watching this and their parents didn't care. That these are the children in this town that my stepson goes to school with! That these are the parents we may someday mistakenly trust him to spend the night with in a house where apparently a movie full of blood and complete nudity (and we're not talking about just one scene but 50% of the movie) are ok to be watched by young children. I'm just floored. No wonder people choose to homeschool their children. I'm just so amazed and disappointed at the same time. I just don't know what else to say it was kind of a disturbing night.

Life this week

Life has been going good. I got an 86 on my first statistics test. I was pretty mad at myself. I mean seriously it was an open note test I should have rocked that stupid thing. I was four points away from an A. Oh well I'll have to do better on the next one. Then I had my first test in Operations Research. I did ok but I won't know until Thursday if ok was good enough.

Luke had yet another game on Saturday. It was fun of course. He's getting better though so that's good. They only have one more game and that's the end of the season. Too bad it's been nice getting to see him play every Saturday.

Not much else going on here. Hope everyone is well :)

Turkey Cordon Bleu

Tonight I made Turkey Cordon Bleu for dinner and my husband said it was great! I know he wasn't lying because he ate all of his before I was even done! We also had cauliflower mash which sounds weird but is OH SO GOOD! So the question remains what the heck happened to me? Why did I actually cook? One website: www.mealtimemakeover.com For $15 for three months they make up meal plans and create shopping lists for you. I've been wanting to try it for a while now since I thought maybe if actually started cooking something other than spaghetti we might be less tempted to eat out. So finally yesterday morning we signed up. We decided we'd experiment for a couple of months (since you have to pay for 3 up front) and see how it goes. So far it goes great!!! The recipes are easy and super yummy. Last night we had banana pancakes and bacon and tonight we had the turkey cordon bleu. The best part is we signed up for the Plan for 2 points system Wal-Mart so it does recipes that are more healthy and tell you exactly how many points each item is! It was great!!! And the shopping list tells me where in Wal-Mart to find everything and about how much it should cost. Love it so far! I'm really looking forward to the Tuscan chicken on Friday and the Lemon Pepper Tilapia on Wednesday.

Oh and the best part. For those of you with more than two people they do family plans too!!! :)

Crazy Adventrures

MAN! What a crazy day. My phone died on me this morning at work. Then on my way to class (an hour drive) I got a flat tire!!! It was actually a blow out who knows how that happened. So I turn my phone on and use the tiny bit of battery it has to call Brad and tell him where I am - exactly 20 minutes away in the middle of NOWHERE! So he's say I'm leaving now as the phone dies. Like two seconds later the county sheriff guy shows up and asks if I need help. Part of me wants to say no I'm fine I'll get it and then the smart part of me blurts out "yes!" So he completely changed the tire for me. I tried to call Brad and tell him not to come but the phone wouldn't work at all. So then I asked the Sheriff when he was done if he could call my husband and let him know I'm ok. So he dials and then hands the phone to me. Brad's already on his way so the Sheriff and I wait in our cars for Brad. Brad comes we switch cars and he continues on to the nearest town to get a new tire and I take his car to school. I'm 15 minutes late to class which honestly was great considering all that had happened. At this point the instructor is going over something they learned last week asks me what I think the answer is and I'm like I wasn't here last week I don't know. So then for the rest of the lecture every time a concept even had a little to do with what they learned last week he would say "for those of you who weren't here last week." Whatever. Luckily I caught on really quick to what we were doing and left tonight totally caught up. Then I drove home. Man I'm just glad we have our emergency fund in place. Not once tonight did I have to stress about how we would pay for the new tire. I just told Brad use the debit card the emergency fund will cover it! Guess I better get some sleep now.
